As someone who's doing ASMR on KZbin and has listened to it for anxiety and depression since 2017 this new rise just because it is popular is SO weird and annoying. When I tell people I do ASMR for work I get weird looks at first and I have to make this grand explanation that I do not mean the sexual one, the boyfriend/girlfriend abusive audios nor the weird tiktok ones. This is just another example of what happens when something becomes famous. In another video I watched about this topic ASMR was the 2nd highest searched term last year in some year before. Of course everybody wants to hop onto it...
