Social stealth matters to Assassin's Creed, and to Origins most of all. Find out why in my new AC video essay series, Illoominations! / loomer979 / loomer979

Hi everyone. One of the most common replies I've seen to this video is "But the Creed doesn't exist yet, so Bayek doesn't have to follow the tenets!".

This feels like some old school loomer... god the nostalgia is heavy!

I totally agree with you but I do feel like social stealth is something they developed over time. Origin is where it all began, it's not that hard to think that other assassin generations introduced this in more crouded areas of the world! I do like these videos though, well done!

Love this new series! But what if Bayek learns and uses social stealth, as he progresses through the game and officially becomes an Assassin?

Yes Looms! Definitely make more of these!! I loved your argument on social blending! I wish they somehow include it! It will be so cool!

The way you describe it makes the blending mechanic sound like it's more important thematically than it is to the gameplay. In that case, maybe removing that mechanic might not be such a great loss? Especially when given the less town/civilisation centric enviroments.

Indeed, Social Stealth needs to return, It's one of the foundational pillars of the series. The Assassin's Creed Multiplayer is one of the best games for Social Stealth.

You make good arguments on both fronts, and removing social stealth is frankly a bad call by Ubi. I'm probably the only one in the world who holds Unity as my favorite in the series, not so much for story, but for mechanics. It really pushed the "blade in the crowd" motif, and it added the 2 most (personally) sought after features for AC: crouching whenever you want, and a cover system. I'm nearly as excited for this game as I was for AC 2 back in the day, but learning that there is no cover system to speak of has diminished my expectations severely. It may seem small, but that cover system in Unity is what allowed me to sneak through 5 star, 4 player co op missions completely on my own and without using eagle vision. It was such a step forward, and a completely obvious one at that, that I cannot believe they would remove it. Even watching demos, I get worried at the lack of possibilities for corner assassinations. Check out this clip from a gameplay video

You make a great point about Social Stealth Loomer. I also get the point why Aveline had three different looks. It's a little annoying but at the same time I would like to see something like that again in future Ac: Games.

Game design talk about a game that usually gets no love for the depth behind its mechanics and just gets tossed aside and gets a "eh just an AC game"? hel yeyyy, this is probably one of my favorite videos you have made looms, honestly the only way I can see this getting better is just more polish, and like better structure of what is talked about through editing, like say after you spoke of all social stealth in each game, you give a summary of each through simple descriptive editing, just to like get a final grasp and something visually clean to look at and understand, maybe just me, anyway good jaaab loomz

As far as I understand the setting of ACO, Medjay are at the verge of extinction. Therefore I guess that Bayek is only recognized by the people in Siwa because he grew up and served his deed there. In the rest of Egypt no one knows him personally, of course, but the tradition of the Medjay has also vanished from public attention.
