I loved your performance, Dan. I wish they had given more time to develop Arno's story, or even made it a trilogy. It's sad that this type of Assassin's Creed is long gone (about 10 years now).

In 2009, i went with my best friend, to buy this amazing game. We were so happy, about the graphics, the city and the intro (best intro in the series). We talked about to visit the city in the future. And, we made a promise, 6 years later, he passed away. We never travelled to Italy. In 2024, I went to: Firenze, Venezia, San Gimignano, Roma and many other locations, i honored him. I was walking in Firenze with his presence in my mind and heart. I fulfilled my promise my brother, i hope to see you again in the afterlife! "It is a good life we lead brother" "The best, may it never change" "And may it never change us"

God Damn! I never thought about how unity has British accent until just now when you mentioned it🤣 It’s one of my top 3 Fav AC games believe it or not, but I would like to mention that it’s also playable in authentic French audio which would be the most accurate. But on the grander scale of things, accents are something that only Americans like to dwell on, as in reality, there’s no such thing as British accent, it’s proper English.

I loved when movies and games used to do this. Instantly reminded me of all the toy story bloopers at the end. These scenes make the game feel more alive, like the creators actually give a shit.

Dan's quote, "it is not talked about in the game", represents some of my problems with the narrative. There are great and compelling ideas, but they suffer from poor development. It seems like the narrative suffered a lot due to the tight deadlines of the game, alongside the technical problems. With proper development, this narrative could have been the deepest in the series by far.

Short Answer: Alexios was meant to Be canon, but diversity and women quota made Cassandra Canon. Proof : Kassandra should not have been able to replace Tektikles in the Olympics as it;'s only a Male event.

If you're gonna make a female lead assassin's creed then do so, and do it ina way that make sense. Not a shoehorned checkbox, not a girl boss that can ragdoll groups of men each thrice her mass, not a strong independent woman labeled that but wearing the toxic bullshit personality they'd call men assholes for having, not a Mary Sue perfect paragon, and not something that fucks history beyond tolerance. Find a realistic balance. An archer, a queen of stealth, someone that if need be trained to take advantage of smaller size to be nimble for quick time agile executions. Somewhat realistic. Someone where their position makes sense without "modernizing" our emotions from historical fiction into historical fantasy.

Im sticking to Alexios. Kassandra made a fantastic villain which I have been lacking on. A good evil psycho female villain. Saying “it’s Kassandra because we need a female lead” is weak. Especially for setting in an ancient Greece. Spartans did not have female soldiers, women were not allowed to participate in Olympics and all and all. It’s just weird that a woman would be able to take down brutes. Ubisoft knows how to write a good female lead. I loved Evie Frye to the bone, she’s my baby… but Kassandra aint the creme de la creme i’d want from a female AC lead.

this is deffo the worst reasoning for kassandra canon. A character should never be made just for the sake of representation. Everything story wise, acting wise and marketing wise was perfect for Alexios. Kassandra as canon also brings in a lot of inaccuracies history wise(something og ac fans would know was very important before all the new isu suits and microtransactions. I support the fact that there should only be a single mc and it should be Alexios(the actor did a fantastic job, unlike Kassandra's actor who while did generally well, became more favorite due to the simps). Imagine an ac game, with female mc who faces all the inequalities of the historical time period and is affected by it - Joins the order and with it rises above the notions of the fragile pillars of society that ezio mentions. Getting past the dogmatic societal ideals and just being a straight up badass. I would prefer such a female mc instead of faking it for the namesake of repressentation. While i do agree with the reason why Kassandra should be the only mc. Historically and with the events in game it doesn't make sense. Women weren't allowed to enter the olympics so why would Kassandra be able to? And this is even placed in game in a side quest were they are about to sentence a woman to death for watching the olympics. There is also a choice to pretend to be testikles and even if you play as Kassandra they'll be like aight enter. And Women we're not allowed to be trained in the spartan army. And in game we see Nikoloas a spartan general train her. And through dialogue we know that the MC was trained on spartan army training grounds. That would've not been allowed for a spartan woman in acient greece. I agree AC is long overdue for a female protagonist. But in ACO it wouldn't make sense historically. But that argument ubisoft made for having the choice there was "women don't sell" And i hate them for that. Like just get one game with a female lead in main stream games.

This is such a great video. I’m in Florence right now and I grew up playing those games. It really is incredible how much nostalgia and love I have for a city I had never been to before purely because I saw it through ezios eyes when I was younger, hooked on the tragic tale of his life.
