I feel like a lot of KZbinrs lost touch with the core community. And social media made the standard 1000hp or that shit slow. When most people haven’t even had a 500hp car. And clout took over. And once clout took over, the enthusiasm/enthusiast lost or are losing interest

I don’t think people really understand how serious this topic really is. It is really going downhill for true automotive lifestyle on KZbin. I loved the “olden or golden days” when your fav KZbinr uploaded and no matter what part they got. We were excited and genuinely happy for them progressing. But social media and or individual made it seem like all the hard to get parts for normal people was a norm and saturated the market. It’s crazy because I enjoy watching smaller KZbin channels where it’s just guys who are in a garage modding an every day car that I can afford. Big car KZbin channels with these 6 figure builds are nice but realistically I’ll never be able to do that. I connect more with the every day KZbinr who’s doing a civic si, or wrx build rather than watching a Lamborghini build.

It’s not the cost it’s the unrealistic expectation of what a build should be. There’s this expectation that a build should be super high horsepower, for most, it’s not attainable and/or sustainable even if you get there…it’s a money pit to maintain those types of builds. If we can make cool, different builds, that may not even be “fast” but just interesting, cool again then maybe the scene can be saved. I will say it all went downhill after the r35 became the standard for a car KZbinr to have or it’s boring.

Man I started my channel 6 yrs ago and it took until last year to hit 500 subs then I'd finally hit 1,000 by end of year and only my shorts do higher numbers and my full length videos numbers are garbage truck juice. Now I have to get my watch time up which isn't happening because everyone only wants to watch shorts and I'm not gonna tear up my vehicles to get views. KZbins algorithm only pushes negative content and titles that are click bait. At least you've hit certain miles stones that most youtubers will never see! I'm still at it though.

This video is so true. I haven't uploaded a video in over 2 years for similar reasons. Back when built my R I got not bad views and interactions, but when I started bringing in passion projects that were what I would say were more relatable it was the exact opposite. Unless your able to constantly bring in brand new cars, expensive JDM classics, constantly break the law, or have extremely expensive fast builds it's very hard to grow to a point to where you're able to get any thing worth financial value (if that's your goal.) I pretty much just decided to build my cars amongst myself and close friends. It's more fulfilling for me, and I get to build at my own pace. Anyways, We're still watching for you and genuine passion

I’m 26 now but I was definitely guilty of being like 19-21 thinking you can just buy everything and build a car in a weekend or two. Automotive KZbin been going down for me since late 2018 and with the takeovers just killed it all for us. No one is just not interested in car content anymore because everything is already done to honestly. For example every KZbin I seen now has a R34 GTR when back in 2013-2015 they were rare to see in American streets because they were illegal at the time.

Zosh this is how i think it’s going . We all grew up zosh life got busy some of us had kids some of are in our careers. We was able to get cheap swaps and cheap integras and civics now these things are 6k+ for bone stock . We had to cheap cars to mod at the time . I honestly think all of the showing off and unlimited resources backfired on them. I would say less is more but back in the day when KZbinrs only had like 1-2 decent car builds they would focus on, it had more sentimental value not from buying like a new car each video and have 100 cars per person. Back when Adam LZ only had the classic yellow 240, Dustin only had the WRX, Evan had the red STI hatchback and TJ hunt only had the BRZ… that’s when the channels blew up the most.

It’s a tough spot in the automotive scene and creating content people like and are interested in. But not wanting to click bait, or do clout things (like takeovers). Hopping on the next trend, having endless pockets for the next best thing and content to keep going. It’s a challenge trying to maintain, and stay motivated with it all. I Definitely have to think about some other realms to maybe get into.
