Because their music isn't good, it's that simple. They don't make music that you'd listen to if you didn't know who they were without their battle rap career. Surf is pretty much the only one that understands how to make actual music that you'd want to listen to. Calicoe said it best against Lux "Yeah yall started this, yall the reason labels thinks battle rappers can't make songs today". Most guys like Lux, Verb, Shine, Suge, Geechi, Cal, the people listening to them are more of a fan of them as battlers so they try to force themselves to support the music. Whether you're a fan of Surf or not as a battler, his music bangs. That's the different.

Loaded Lux, Jae Millz, Cassidy, Daylyt, Mook, and many more have songs that are good. Many also ghostwrite for commercial rappers. What’s missing is marketing, promotions, management, creative direction. It’s not because they aren’t capable of making a good songs.

@@ghostfacekicker Songs nobody but battle rap fans will listen to. No one is going to pay to see that shit live nor are they going to stream it. They don't find a balance between penmanship and making good songs. Just because you can rap good doesn't mean you can make good songs. As for that ghostwriting stuff, they all make the same claims just for you to find out they're writing for some underground rapper no one also cares about lol outside of maybe Daylyt anyway. They can have all the marketing, promotion, management and creative direction in the world, if people don't feel it they don't feel it pause

I don’t believe any of this tbh. The markets for battle rap and the markets for music are different worlds. The fan bases are different. Plenty of battle rappers can and have made great music. Tsu Surf, Marv one, Pat Stay, Daylyt amongst others. People want what they want from the given individual. Mfs don’t want to see lebron play golf.

The answer is simple lol they don’t make good music. I’ve noticed this for like 10-15 years now. 99% of em don’t understand that having bars doesn’t equate to good music. They are too caught up in the technical side of rapping, forgetting that part of being an artist is entertaining

I wonder how many of the battle rappers are ghost writing for some of the music artists that you are comparing their success to? I know Daylyt and king los ghost wrote for a lot of your favorite artists. I think that most battle wrappers don't make globally successful music because they refuse to dumb down their lyrics that they are rapping in songs because they know it will be held against them in a future battle. Also, publicity is everything. If you don't have a media team pushing your music, then it is hard to get consistent views in the algorithm like Eminem (a battle rapper) and French Montana (another battle rapper) used to get.

They don't know how to switch their flows, say something the average person could relate to, and they are stuck in the 90s and early 2000s. Have to adjust to the times.

Battle rap is a genre in its own. Having punchlines does not equate to making good songs. Also the commercial landscape has moved on from the time when battle rappers like Canibus had a commercial audience, most listeners just want to vibe and don't care about the cleverness in the lyricism. i.e. the rap audiences have become dumber or prefer shock factor (raw violence or graphic sexual references) over punchlines, metaphors, similes and double entendres. Also certain rappers like DMX were astute battle rappers and still knew how to make good records, guess that skill is either lost or the style is not compatible with radio anymore. I honestly think that even DMX would struggle to breakthrough in today's market.

Why would a record label invest in a battlerapper? Chokes, controversy, losses etc. And most of them are grown. You can pay a 20 yo less, wipe their online history, make them sign awful contracts get the bag and then drop them when they lose steam.

If the battle rappers had more fans, the industry would have been beasting to sign them. This way, they can keep pushing their weak demonic agenda.
