We do that all the time. I gave a card to a potential older model and She is now $10,000 richer on a tv program. Funny how MOST Women that are approached NEVER investigate. I even did an experiment where I had a famous model hand out cards who worked for Us. Not one called. We even did a casting call for a TV series and out of 200 cards handed out only 20 showed up and out of 20 who showed up 19 made comments thinking it was not real and all they had to do is CALL and THE companies producer who did the casting call and would answer His cell phone there. I know there are a lot of scams out there but give honest photographers a chance. Remember a LOT of producers/photographers see someone special they will simply hand You a card and ask You to call if You are interested.

Krysuna a lot of companies say they’re showing off they’re cloths, but they put you in uncomfortable clothing that’s really revealing and don’t let you wear underwear. A lot of these girls are like 15-27. You also don’t get enough money and they treat you like an object. So I mean modeling for old navy or H&M is great. But as a career or any serious more mature brands is a no no.

vince the ratboy PREACH! I’ve danced all my life not wanting to make a career out of it but just because I love it and it keeps me healthy. Our studio was mainly these types of dancers, we competed but most of us stopped competing/performing after high school or college. Cause of this we didn’t have too much pressure from instructors on how to look, but we all knew what we “should” look like and how bad we would look in our costume if we were too big. One day one of our male ballet instructor made a joke about how we always stand in the same spots for bar and imitating changed spots and said, “oh no I can’t stand over here! This mirror makes me look like a size 6!” scoffed and made a face like that was so fat and grotesque. I was 16 at the time and had been wearing a size 6 since I was 11 and up until that moment was dang proud of my size 6. I cried and refused to go back to his class again (I was already on the fence about him as an instructor, but really, I was there so that I could stay in my size 6 jeans not be fat shamed for not being a zero)

@laurenh52995 жыл бұрын
Hello World our studio only offered modern a few of the summers that I was there and I wasn’t that into it. I did ballet because it’s such an intense workout and it made my form and coordination better. My main style that I’ve continued on with through college is Tap which luckily you can do at any size. Being a very muscular person actually helps with the style of tap I do cause I typically choreograph more base notes and heavy beats. I’ve stuck with hip hop too and again, being more muscular gives me a bit of an advantage in my opinion for that style as well. It was just that I want to be a well rounded dancer and maintain good technique so those ballet classes were crucial to me. I’ve stuck to doing ballet bar on my own at my gym which is actually a better situation for me now because I have enough training to know what my form should look like so this helps me maintain form and strength without feeling self conscious about my shape

I worry for Cindy Crawford's daughter because of this. Poor girl looks sickly. In Cindy's day models were a normal slim weight. They were typically a U.S. size 4-6. I have no idea why any model has to be so thin. No regular person wears clothing that small, nor do we need to see malnourished kids modeling them. Glad you are healthy and happy.

My sister was a high fashion-model for several years. She walked with Kendall, Casa, Gisele, and for names like Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfield, and in all the Fashion Weeks. I used to brag to my friends about her all the time (and I suppose it sounds like I am now) but then she came home and she was gaunt and frail. The industry had taken a toll on her well-being. Her mental, physical, and emotional health had declined and she was not the same girl she was when she’d left. It took a while to get her back but she’s recovered ten-fold and she never would have if she had stayed with that career path. On top of that, she was meant to cover her travel expenses to and from different countries for different shows, so although she was walking alongside famous names and designers, she was making very little money herself. I guess my point is that the modeling industry may seem glamorous, and I suppose it is if you’re someone who grew up in the industry and has connections (e.g. Jenners, Hadids, etc) but it’s not why it seems. Thank you for making this video and for shedding a light on the potential damage the industry and its unrealistic expectations can have on young men and women.

being a model is such a shit job. im sorry, but i just have to put this out there. being a model seems bad for your mental health. like, your job is to be looked at. they change your personality and looks so much you turn into a different person. they make you look the way that they want you to look even if you don't like it. the photoshop is also insane. they make you look a certain way that isn't you. when you said that you were 'too big', i actually laughed. i found it funny at the fact that you have to be a certain weight and size. i understand that they want to make the 'product' look good in photo shoots and photos in general, but making a person lose weight to the point where they have to stop eating and they have to starve themselves, is not right, nor okay. modelling is a really fucked up job.

I am so much more mentally stronger and have a better and more loving self image for myself now at the age of 18 versus my early to mid teenage years & i feel like modeling just doesn’t seem like the most mentally fit for me but i applaud girls and young women who are able to do it :)

I hate the nepotism models, I hope the world stops looking up to them. So many young girls want to look like Bella and Kendall, but they don't even look like their old selves. I have never and will never buy an item from their webshop because the clothes just don't look good on women who seriuosly look sick. if I compare with nelly.com (the biggest nordic webshop for clothing) the clothes always look great because the women are beautiful and the clothes fit them wonderfully and they smile and have this shine to their skin instead of looking dead. they are still thin, but they are a size 4 or 6 not 0 or 2. they look like how you imagine a beautiful young model. not like someone who's been in a concentration camp

It's 2018 now and it's going to be 2019 soon but seeing the amount of self hatred and lack of confidence so many people have because they are not the same as societies "standards" is sad. The worst part about this is that you can never meet these standards. Like the model said even if you are naturally slim you are not slim enough. There's always going to be something because the standards they set are unrealistic. All of us need to know that we are beautiful in our own way. This is the first video of yours I have watched and I love you. You're personality is projected really well and you're sending a really good message. Thank you. From someone who struggles with self esteem, to see someone as beautiful as you admit that you have had self esteem problems due to the way others have treated you shows me that it's a problem within society and not me. You are stunning and I'm sorry that you went through those situations, eating disorders aren't pleasant at any cost. Thank you for sharing your story. You've earned a new subscriber and a 👍🏻.

Wow...I clicked on this video thinking "oh boo hoo tell me why its so awful being young blonde beautiful and thin" *insert rolling eyes* but I'm glad I did watch it. Just shows how messed up the industry is. Thank you for sharing your story Annika.

If your taller, your naturally meant to be heavier than a shorter person. So 109 pounds on her would be really skinny whilst on a shorter person it may just be average.

I actually once read an anonymous supermodel' s story like 3,4 years ago, the exact details i read are a bit vague: anyways, i recall the model saying that she was extremely unhappy with her life; and how at this point she is depressed and suicidal, it has basically ruined her life in almost every sense. I vividly remember hee saying that modeling has pulled her away from her healthy friendships and relationships; how now she doesn't have any friends bc she has no interest in the people who are currently typically around her (ppl in the fashion industry). So supposedly her life is boring and has no meaning, she's super unhealthy, and she is at the worst, disastrous period in her life. She's lost a lot of important aspects and normalities her life. She discusses the common misconceptions of the industry (a lot like annika did), how it's personally affected her life (clearly), how most people now perceive her, her advice and opinions, etc. Her life is shit, and she goes on about the modeling industry is corrupt and destroyed. It was sad and emotional, im super sensitive to those kinds of deep & meaningful stories. I hope she's all right now; she seemed pretty cool and down to earth. I believe she said she was canadian, if that means anything in your potential Google search on her, which i assume many will do (like I've been doing). I've been trying rediscover the article but i can't seem to find it on any of my accounts history. And when i try to search it by typing in anything that i remember that relates to the article, I can't find it. It's fucking frustrating. This is her story and it's very interesting. Let me know if any of u think you've found it, and I'll do the same. Now for my opinion on the modeling industry: same as annika's lol! I'm too tired to type anymore unnecessary typing so enough said; i practically share the same opinion as Annika's. Loved the vid, annika; very informative. Irrelevant: I've watched this vis a bunch of times so idk but i think I've commented on this video before lmao. I tend to rewatch and reread things out of habit bc i find clues and understand things i didn't the first. I don't believe many ppl do that lol. For instance, I've reread most of the gone series novels and let me tell you, the things i notice and realize the 2nd or 3rd time around, are so dope haha! Nobody will care enough about this comment tho, lmcbo! Sorry for the mistakes lol. Omg i talk too fucking much . . . I'll stop . . . bye now! 🍻😉🤑

A lot of people say I am skinny. And I'm also poor. My mom doesn't buy everything I want. So I suggested I do some modeling gigs. I don't want to go full on. But it's a but more difficult to just find gigs. However theres been lots of stories about sexual abuse and things like that in modeling when you sign up to a company :(((

i used to model when i was 15 and i ended up quitting at 19 because it was all so stressful. my agent put me on a STRICT diet and i went down to weighing 109lbs. i got some photoshoots and did some gigs, but honestly it’s not worth it.

This is such an important video, I used to think 'i wish I could be a model' but honestly I think most of it was me feeling insecure about my appearance and wanting validation from others. I'm a lot happier now and I've now got more people in my life who like me for me.
@kelseynichole62986 жыл бұрын
and everyone who is under 5'9 don't even bother beautifuls. This business will make u hate ur body if ur not the ideal measurements. You can be super skinny and have a stunning face but if you're under the height requirement or not famous or have connections its highly unlikely to sign to a legit agency that'll get you work. This business needs to change its a joke and i saw it first hand.

I’m a model & that’s not true. I’m 5’6 , signed with a great agency & forever getting work. There is different type of modeling , runway , commercial , etc. of course for runway height matters but for commercial modeling, your height & size rarely matter (well they never have for me & other models I know in South Africa) so yeah - there are cons but there are pretty good pros too.
@SingiKhosa6 жыл бұрын
Skincarejunkie yeah I do get what you mean. I just know that I don’t do runway , and there are millions of other models who don’t - doesn’t make you a less successful model, you just have a different niche. Obviously runway needs tall ass human beings and we can’t all be tiny and tall. So yeah if you look at it that way - it can be dangerous for someone to try make themselves something that they’re not. But on the other hand - there are other healthy happy models (me for example) who eats what she wants, has an amazing agency and is doing well for herself. I guess you’ve just got to find balance xx
@lydiastilinksi93176 жыл бұрын
you’re right and I think this is so fucking disgusting. like isn’t it enough to make someone feel bad about their weight? making people feel bad about their height, which is something you have literally zero impact on, is just so stupid and useless.
@evanoble59386 жыл бұрын
This is so untrue I’m 5’7 and unless you do catwalk it doesn’t really matter... as long as you’re tallish
@randomcomment76755 жыл бұрын
Gosh I'm so happy I'm not that skinny anymore. .. And I don't want to be. There was a time when I was starving myself. Everybody was congratulating me for being so healthy... when emotionally, I was a mess. I had no energy left to laugh, sometimes not even to cry and my whole life was evolving around losing weight. Just so that I could get a job in this glamourized dangerous toxic industry. Now I lift weights, I'm heavier than ever before and I'm the healthiest and happiest I've ever been. I eat whatever I want, whenever I want, I'm active. I'm getting straight A's in college and still having a fabulous life. I'm joyful and genuinely happy. Being skinny doesn't equal happiness.
