17 years ago, I was a World Vision sponsoree from 1st grade to 6th grade. I remember getting these school supplies and attending group events facilitated by the organization to bring kids and parents together in the community. One thing that has stayed with me throughout this time is how the organization opened my eyes to what was once unknown to me that the world is so much bigger than what I knew. This was when access to internet and a phone was only for the wealthy. Writing a letter to my sponsor in the USA was one memorable aspect of being part of World Vision. But the best part was actually getting a response from them telling me about their lives and the pieces of advice they shared with me and I always looked forward to getting those letters from my sponsor. The organization helped me learn the endless possibilities in life and shaped me in ways that would have not been possible had I not become part of it.
