Funny enough I had the same reflection some time ago and I realize that there is no "you". Who you are is in constant evolution depending on your choices and actions, that's partially why I don't agree when you say "I should not try to be nicer because it's wrong and weird". Of course it is, it's like a new sport, you're not used to it, but if it really matters to you just keep going that way and you will find the sweetspot of how to be nice at the right moment and in the right conditions. Last thing, I HATE when you can't speak about things without people being like "woaw it's so profound", no it's just the kind of issues that many people encounter in life (as I still do and you do). So don't mind speaking about this kind of reflections you have, it's helping people in the same case.

I majored in psychology and let me tell you that when you read about a disorder, you'd find yourself fitting in that box. It's very common but that doesn't mean that just because you relate to it so much, you automatically have it. I won't go into details so let me just say that there are prerequisites and a diagnostic criteria which only qualified individuals could make. So my point is, you're probably not narcissistic. Probably. And I really really REALLY think you should go see a counselor, man. Or someone you feel comfortable to and de-stress there. I honestly think when someone says "be yourself" it means "be who you want to be". I want to be a graceful and peaceful person, so I redirect my thoughts to it. I got kinda lost in the end, about how you perceive only two patterns of thoughts from ppl, the one they will be saying you're nice or the one they will be mean. Boy, that's not how life works haha ppl can be way more than this, we can be supportive without calling you names, we can be realistic and helpful without trying to put you down.
@purplejiav20005 жыл бұрын
Dude, just two weeks ago I was having the same thoughts. It hit me because I was talking to a friend the other day about our other friends. And she would categorize them into personality traits like she's writing a dictionary definition. It got me thinking. We should not let words keep us in a box, in a character others see you on the outside. Don't let words define who you are as a person and what you've been through. We must allow ourselves to express freely without worrying if we're staying in character or not. Narcissism comes from a deep seeded insecurity and feeling insignificant. You think that once you're famous and recognized people will finally see how great you are and that everyone will look up to you. That's the reason why most people want to be famous to be honest. But honestly having had experience first hand with a narcissist. That shit ain't pretty. It does take courage to admit it because narcissistic people don't admit their own faults. He never said sorry not even once not even when he ripped out my heart and threw it on the ground.It is because they feel spiteful and hurt by not being seen how great they are. They feel like they have a right to treat other people like shit so they'd feel their pain.

I struggle with self-actualization constantly to a point where I don't know who the real "me" is. So I completely understand where you're coming from. At the end of the day, all that matters is what makes YOU comfortable with being yourself, and if that means embracing your narcissistic, piece-of-shit self, then more power to you. People will respect authenticity (even false authenticity) over two-faced people any day. Ultimately, nothing really matters cuz everyone is self-absorbed and we're all gonna die in end. I appreciate this video and your honesty a lot. I can understand what people mean by saying "be yourself", but sometimes it can trap you, as you said. People can't evolve and develop if they simply accept themselves for who they are. I have a lot of insecurities myself, and I often feel useless being as I'm disabled and have several diseases. If I was to always be myself I would never grow and learn how to deal with all that dark stuff. I also have issues with empathy sometimes, so that's something I have to work on too. We're always changing, and sometimes we have to make those changes ourselves by being out of our comfort zones and pushing ourselves.

Angel, I know you won't see this but I just started watching your videos and you aren't a narcissist. You want attention and fame, that's human. Narcissist don't contemplate other people as humans and they aren't aware of how they are perceived or how they effect others. I have personal experience with a few since childhood and they hurt you deeply. I don't know you personally, but you seem to have too much introspection of yourself and your audience to have true narcissism. I think you will benefit from therapy or studying psychology, spirituality, and personal growth. You are still young and you're trying to be better and that's wonderful and authentic.

You are completely right, honestly I'm so relieved you said this. I tried to smile and be aware of my facial expressions when I went out, but I kept feeling upset like something isn't right. I think, "wow, I failed again at trying to change". It feels like I am stuck in my body, like I am faking it. I honestly don't know who I am; I am not a saint but I'm not evil either. The reality is that human psychology is insanely complex. The mental state of humans can best be represented by a spectrum of ranging behavioral tendencies. In the study of psychology, we have attempted to pick out the most common behavioral tendencies observed in people and sort them into neat little categories that make it easier to explain a person's personality and behavior. These categories, however, will never be accurate to the full picture of the human psyche. It's like a rainbow. Like a human's personality, the colors on the rainbow are present in a spectrum. There is, in reality, no clear line where one color stops and the next begins. Yet, as we do, we have taken the liberty to neatly arrange the entire spectrum into broadly simplified categories: ROYGBIV. This categorization is, yes, technically correct, but it is in no way accurate to the true nature of the rainbow. It gets across the concept of the rainbow, but is lacking in detail and variation. This is the exact same situation with psychology. "Psychological disorders" and "personality types" are examples of the simplification of the human psychological spectrum. These categories are useful for general sorting of human behavior, but lack enough detail to accurately depict each individual's personality. So, in short, diagnosing oneself with a mental disorder is something that should purely be left to the professionals. Psychology is something far more complicated than a list of quick-to-learn personality traits. If you desire to be more self aware, I would simply recommend recognizing your own behavioral patterns (specific things you do or ways that you reacts to situations) and, if you dont like them, work on being aware of them and trying to change them little by little.

Maybe you would benefit by checking this all out with a psychologist, having NPD I'm sure is totally fine but it's good to know why you are doing things (etc just being aware when you're saying something that doesn't have value to you but you just want that Clout). And if you're unhappy with x or y that you seem to always do then you have that ability to shift your actions or thoughts just because you're aware of yourself. Came here for learning some art stuff but staying for the chaotic energy I resonate HARD with (just take care of yourself).

I literally remember saying the exact same thing to myself "I'm gonna change and be nicer" lasted for two days properly. Now I can be myself around my friends who know that I'm joking and I think I'm better at toning it down in front of others.

its honestly really naive to think one person will be the same every second of their live, even on the same day you change (sometimes a little bit sometimes a lot) depending of the ppl arround you and the different relationships you have, you sometimes are really different to different ppl and you sometimes act differently on purpose depending on the situation, etc... and with all that change i think its still really the same person becasue we genuinely do all of those things from our within, even stopping and questioning "is this really me?" is also genuine bc its you whos making that question and your doubts and insecurities are also a part of u, i think you are allways really yourself, you cant really escape that as long as you do what you do and live for once instead of thinking "what i should do ?" , i totally agree dude

I was raised by a narcissist too, so it only makes sense that you’re going to have those influences in your automatic responses or “personality “ a psychologist fixed those tendencies for me and also got rid of my insecurities, anxiety and deep depression.

Da best is to choose what to be depending on the situation, what best fist for it, and it is not being fake, is as you said, the personality is nothing more than a confort zone, it doesn't define you. When you can choose that way, you are literally free of yourself
@matiasdanieltrapagliamansi31094 жыл бұрын
did you ever meditate? could you hear that silence, even if there is noise outside? that is your real you, only potential. From there, you can use that energy your are saving in nonesense compulsive reaction (or overthinking) in whatever expression of personality you would like, knowing that it does not define you
@matiasdanieltrapagliamansi31094 жыл бұрын
The perk is that, with that silence as starting point, you REALLY know, at least what you think, that is the best course of action in every situation. There aren't hundred Angel Ganev fighting with each other for the truth, it just appears

My therapist told me if you have the self awareness to question if you're a narcissist-you are not a narssisist, but maybe you have some traits, I think alot of people do to some extent. It's interesting to hear people open up about their dark sides, when I'm pissed off I visualise chopping people's heads off with a samurai like in kill Bill.. But in reality it would feel gross to do it.
