Sometimes id feel my hand hurt but id still keep drawing just to post my shitty drawings to trumblr. After i finished hs i thought i could just make money with art but haha xd my level of skill wasnt high enough so from 18 years old i kinda ran away from all my problems and had like a inner life crisis. Right now im back in the game i could say and im trying to get into art school (this year hopefully). I too sometimes have this problem where i wish i could draw and play in the same time and my biggest problem is that playing games is what connects me and my boyfriend ( long distance relationship). Finding balance is hard especially when (in my case) my parents didnt really give a shit what i do with my life, they just wanted me to find purpose without offering any guidance. I can relate so much to this, addicted to lol for 5 years, still average at the game hardstuck plat 1, decided to quit and play solo games. I had so much fun playing solo games for less than a year than all those years playing lol. Eventually I got tired of games specially when I started university. Now on my 3rd year in university, my gaming addiction got replaced with productive hobbies such as working out, studying japanese, and drawing portraits. I suck at drawing, rarely enjoys it but I know if I keep doing it I'll improve even if it's a little. My advice is to quit now, think about how much time you wasted on those videogames, imagine if u spent all those times doing something productive, you would be much skilled, for example on sports or art.

I'm 30, and I kinda went the opposite direction: I've been working my ass off the last 10+ years getting IRL shit done to the point where I forgot how to properly relax, and real life milestones became like video game wins - you are excited to get there, but when you hit it, you just get depressed and long for the next big thing. I quit trying to improve actively and climb in league. I didn't quit playing non-competitive single player games though. for example the witcher 3 is so good that it really inspires me to draw and write because everything looks so good and is so well written in that game. League and other competitive games inhibited, the more casual, aesthetic and narrative driven ones really inspire me, so I guess I should keep my energy to be competitive in things that really matter irl instead of games, since I'm not a pro lcs player.

Bruh the thing about having to be the best at this one thing- its fr. I mean, for example, my whole life I've always been competitive and especially in school- for grades and shit and I'm in 12th and this year is just one big "You-can't-be-better-than-me-I gave-up-a-social-life-and-exercise-and-now-I'm-fat-so-bitch-yes,-I-will-come-first". And boy is it hard! (But I did come first and I'm just glad I chose my subjects right- my parents wanted me to take arts and I love science so self doubt is super high everytime). I do have fun when I play league, but often I don't really feel anything and it all feels like it's for nothing. I often played videogames just because there's nothing else to do. I found you on youtube and decided to make a living with art. I draw all day every day. I take all of your advice seriously. I'm reading Andrew Loomis books when my shoulder hurts too much to draw. All because of your videos. I have extreme anxiety about drawing because of my past experiences with art oriented middle school. I thought back to before I went to school and started to feel anxious about art. All I wanted to do as a kid was to create something and it made me happy. I want to bring back that feeling and I think I'm getting there. Thank you.
