The industry would like you to think that (maybe Fairy dust as well!) but the sad truth is whole forests are being destroyed, processed and shipped offshore to Europe. 😟

As an operator working at a pellet-mill in Arkansas. The only thing about this I agree with at all, is location. All of our industries and plants for manufacturing, are right next door to the one major black/brown community in our area. Everything from our Pellet-mill, to a Tyson Chicken, to heavy equipment retailers are all in the same area. I sincerely doubt our Pellets are that harmful compared to the literal chemical company down the road.

I bet the plants predate the neighborhoods or were at one time the only thing in that area and urban sprawl encroached on the plants.

@@RJL612 Unfortunately no. It's a historic community. Obviously it has gotten bigger and sprawl can account for some of the houses being so close. But it wasn't until the late 80s and early 90s the zoning for industrial and manufacturing moved outwards from Little Rock to help promote job growth through out the state. At the cost of higher amounts of localized pollution. Whether it was intentional or just a side effect of bad city planning, that these places ended up right next to every major brown community, is being debated.

I'm brown. I live in the South. There are all types of industrial mills on my side of town. The Northside of town, where white people live, don't have any of these plants in their neighborhood.

The plants were probably there long before any minorities lived there. I'm willing to bet Whites lived there before and moved because of the plants or other reasons. I bet it's either an old part of town or the government bought the land and built public housing.

There is no scenario where you will ever be able to replace petrochemicals if you arent able to use biomass...... As an example it is chemically impossible to produce low emission forms of ethylene (primary compound for over 80% of consumed plastics on earth) without biomass. This post gives off strong NIMBY vibes.

Plastic is far cheaper to produce than these goods and utilizes petroleum products that would otherwise be wasted. Liberal thinkers had nothing to do with its success; markets did.
