Bloodborne is a cult-game... today. It's one of those titles you'll remember with nostalgia in the future, and definitely my favorite PS4 game up to now (actually one of my favorites games ever). I felt like the kid who played videogames for the fist time, that sense of adventure and discovery, the mythos, the design, the music and the awesome characters... everything is just right!.

That's a really cool thing about Bloodborne vs Dark souls. In DS you're the chosen one, and yet, in every boss fight you're the underdog, hence the "victory achieved" displayed at the end of the fight. On the other hand, in BB, you're a hunter and everything in your way is your prey, they're not there to kill you, they're there to be hunted down and slaughtered at your hands.
@dildoballins85458 жыл бұрын
In Dark Souls you aren't the chosen one, the serpents thought this shit up to manipulate people, it's Bloodborne in which you are the chosen one, where you are the eternal hunter
@nico29paz8 жыл бұрын
I wouldn´t call it a chosen one. More like a poor soul picked at random. Just look at the Hunter´s Dream, Seeing how many hunters went through before makes you think: "Well I´m just another one of the bunch" It´s your desition as a player to become something more or not.

Chico P You are still special when compared to normal hunters since you can't die
@nico29paz8 жыл бұрын
Dildo Ballins That is true, though I dont consider it special in a good way. Dying has to be a traumatic experience for the hunter. So being stuck in a constant death cycle can eventually drive someone mad or desperate.

dood, this was my first souls borne game and it's my favorite, although I don't feel the same about bloodborne being better, I think dark souls and bloodborne are equally good, but I'm way better at bloodborne, probably cause it's a faster pace like you said, I can play and be decent at dark souls, but I'm very impatient, and don't like slow, games, dark souls is not slow btw, but in comparison to bloodborne it is, is what I'm saying, also I'd really like a bloodborne 2, but I don't think Miyazaki is continuing any souls borne games after DS3, which makes me really sad, I thoroughly enjoyed his games, hopefully he makes another series of game like bloodborne and dark souls, my hope is he combines the universes, and makes a game of that, but I sincerely doubt that will ever happen. that's my 2 cents on the matter lol bye.

Artorias in DS1 really isn't that hard, is just dodging till he makes the same move that lets hit him 2 or 3 times or just 1 depending on your weapon. Dodging him isn't even hard put 2 or 3 tries in it and you can learn all his moves and oportunities. I'd say from the DLC Manus is clearly the hardest boss fight, his hexes can be hard to avoid especially the surrounding one and Sif isn't much of a help either he (she?) will miss most of the attacks and doesn't really offer you any attack or heal oportunities since Manus will target you all the time and litle Sif dies quickly. I'd say Artorias is a more punishing boss fight but at the same time you have more chances to heal and rebalance things, Manus doesn't give those oportunities you either beat him or you try again, with Artorias you can even interrupt his charge up or take the time to heal and you can even rush him and interrupt his charge even with an arrow to the head. also Artorias attacks are slower and only his spining air slam can combo up to 3 times and that might not even kill you but against Manus? Get hit once and chances are you will get comboed and die no chance to survive. The fight itself doesn't offer much as you see a literaly Broken Artorias, no sif, no shield, no magic sword, broken arm, you're fighting whatever is left of the body but in Bloodborne Ludwig will go grab his giant ass magic sword and murder you, he may look like a disgusting beast but he will make you fear him, Artorias you just feel sorry for him and that the fight isn't in a better setting, that he uses the same moves that are easily telegraphed over and over, it's a general thing in Souls games that you have to be patient and bloodborne is almost the exact opposite of that but Artorias fight could have been so much more. Imagine you fight him before he gets defeated by the Abyss ( let's say he does have little sif with him but he decides to leave sif out of your fight with him), imagine that the result of that fight is you end up secretly wounding Artorias and that leads to him being defeated by the Abyss? Before you finally get to Manus to hear Artorias final words and he asks you to defeat Manus and halt the Abyss from spreading. you'd still find Sif and recue him ( her? the dog didn't seem to have a dick but that could just be design option but the name Sif leaves the thing open, anyway) and you're told by Alvina that Artorias was wounded during his fight with you and that led to him being defeated quickly, so Alvina takes Sif away and takes care of Sif till the present time ( now in my view of this, there wouldn't be a covenant for you to join where you fight the Great Greywolf Sif, and it turns out Sif attacks you because Sif knew one day he (she) would find the same "scent" of the man that wounded Artorias ( not really your scent but rather something familiar that makes Sif attack you for thinking you are the one who wounded Artorias and caused him to be defeated by the Abyss). So in my retelling of this events that area of the Darkroot Garden would only be accessible after you do the dlc to make things have sense. You go to the past make everything happen and your legend is carried on as if Artorias had succeded but Alvina and Sif know the truth, so in the area you won't have a covenant to join and Sif has a reason to attack you. There's no reason Sif would attack you in the present the way the game presents it to you, at least i never really understood why that would be a boss fight and not an npc encounter, but this way i'd give Sif a reason to fight you, or you can still keep the original way things are if Sif was an npc and you attack him (her) as it seems Sif was only protecting Artorias grave and you'd need to grab the abyss walking ring from that grave to defeat the 4 kings but sif wouldn't let anyone take the last thing that keeps Artorias story alive. I feel that this retelling of the events or changing Sif to an npc would make more sense. Anyway just my thoughts on how i'd improve the lore betwen us, Artorias, Sif, Alvina and ofc the spread of the Abyss.

That's exactly what I didn't like in Dark Souls. In Demon's Souls you were a nobody, NPCs didn't really care about you, they just went their own ways until you did something that made them notice you. In both Dark Souls, you are the chosen one, you are already set from the start to do some typical "epic" and "heroic" stuff whereas in BB and DS you don't really know what you are doing. You are just trying to survive in a bleak, much darker, mysterious and interesting world.

I'm late I'm late I know (for anyone who will actually see my comment which is pretty unlikely), but I need to say that I totally agree on the part when you say that the souls games are too slow, and that playing a game like bloodborne which is all about being aggressive is very refreshing. The only shield you'll find in the game is straight up laughing at your face for even using it. The game tells you that you can't be a pussy or the fights will get significantly harder (personnal experience). You can't just hide behind something waiting for that opportunity to tank damage and strike back, no it tells you to get close and personal witg your enemy and to beat the crap out of them. The game at it's CORE tells you that YOU are the one who should be feared, not the opposite (PREY SLAUGHTERED?! I mean come on what's more badass than that). Fav game in the series 11/10, fuck everything else, I think we should build a wall around Florida instead (just kidding of course), those guys are weird (not so sure if I really mean it or I'm just messing with ya). Btw the reason the music and the background themes are so immersive and breathtaking and feel much more cohesive is because none of them is actualy made on a computer. They're all the work of an orchestra (which you should check out anyone passing by) so this is why it felt much more "special".

This Random Dude if you play the souls games afterwards you barley ever use a shield, and still destroy them, and it makes it quick. Plus Gael’s soundtrack is amazing.

The lore is what I loved most about this game. I spent hours post game just reading the wikia pages and watching lore videos. No other game lore captivated me so much. The other Soul's game didn't make me feel for the lore at all. The other games just say "these are epic bosses'. And that's it. Why are they epic? Just because you straight up say they are? But with Bloodborne, all you know is you are going into a town that is slowly going mad. That is it. Slowly you discover what is going on and you know and feel the weight of the world. Heck, there is even a fan book about Bloodborne. I don't know if the other souls games have that. I never liked the harshness of the game, or felt rewarded when finally beating a boss (in any of the souls games), but OMG the lore of Bloodborne is intoxicating.

That same friend kept shoving it up my ass about playing it. So I said wth. I'll give it another shot and till then I have not put it down. I LOVE IT!!! I just passed it a few nights ago. There's nothing opinionated about bloodborne and shadow of the colossus being artistic masterpieces. Those are just simple facts. You're right about everyone being entitled to their own opinions, but the reality is that if you don't like them or at the very least respect them for the way they are, then you indeed, don't appreciate good games.

I bought this game, at release, and stopped playing after dying to the Cleric Beast, multiple times. This being my first ever souls game, I just didn’t understand what type of game it was. After Elden Ring, I FINALLY understand what the souls games are all about. I picked up Dark Souls 3 and completed it after 40 hours. What a masterpiece, in it’s own right. Soon after, I purchased Sekiro and what an amazing game. I’m still going through that one because I suck at parrying :( I finally summoned up the courage to play Bloodborne again and I can’t explain how immersed I am. It’s that same feeling I got with Elden Ring. If Elden Ring didn’t exist, this would still hold the title for the best FromSoftware game. What a masterpiece. 11/10

My favorite part about Bloodborne is the gameplay and story have to be the best blend of interaction in any game ever. You are literally a monster in a city of monsters and by the end you can be a literal god. The progression and learning curve is perfect. Especially going back to old areas with your weakest armor and weapons and having an easy time. Cathedral Ward is so cozy for me now because thats where I really learned to play the game and where every area seems to filter back to.

Demon and dark souls are phenomenal games in their own right, it's just hard to go back to the slower paced kinda halfway like turn based combat. I got worked for about 6 hours straight until i stopped playing like I was in souls with the whole wait and counter stuff. If they sped souls up just a little that whole turtle up and spear jab etc is done for it just won't work If they are rolling, jumping, strafing etc. Souls you can adjust to fairly easily bloodborne is get good or be very steady pissed and prob quit like the guy I bought my copy from 😂
@Itzsfo06 жыл бұрын
oh i love ds1, great first-half-game-world level design but honestly I still love bloodborne more, just the sense of NOT being able to hide , shield-meat-tank, the overall gothic look, and cult-feel to the game Demons Souls = flamelurker...all I can say is ...flame-lurker...the most challenging of the "souls-like" games. The title to kick it all off. Dark Souls = great first title, a modern classic, great game design, and great first half of the game-world Dark Souls 2 = great, if a bit derivative, a bit more polished, and GREAT DLC (great 2nd half of game) Dark Souls 3 = by far the best looking, and while not the best Dark Souls, still a very solid game. Worthy to play. Bloodborne = to me...this is it...the pinnacle of From-Softwares Souls-borne games...this is the best out of these 5 games, the look, the challenge, the atmosphere...very HP Lovecraft, steampunk, challenging, and the "on-edge, nerve-level" to this game...BB is my favorite game NOT just From Software but in general. As the guy says here, the dashing & aggression in this game is straight up top notch, and its more fast-paced.

9:20 it’s pronounced jail. The original Latin spelling of the word was “gaol” up until about the 1900’s, when due to literary media becoming much more readily available (and the fact that a lot of people frequently misspelled the word “gaol” as “jail” at the time) the official spelling became “jail”.

I just feel like " fucking finally, that annoying mf is dead " no actual feeling of relief or joy just more anger. Probably because of how unfair I think this game combat is. The only reason I spent 6 hours with that boss is because I have nothing but a roll to defend myself and the bosses have heat seeking attacks, you roll too early and your fucked, roll to late and you're still fucked.

If your a fan of the Dark Souls series and haven't played this due to not owning a PS4 I suggest to anyone reading this comment to go out and pick one up.. It's well worth it, Bloodborne brings a breath of fresh air to the Souls Series. & if your tight on cash Just buy used or do trade-ins for store credit, that's what I did. Now I'm off to start the DLC and then back to the Unseen Village it is for me! so far its been one hell of a ride, I'll be sad once its all over.. You know the way of how the world is one giant map is actually what made me love the first Uncharted game, it's all set on an island that you can see maps of, you can kinda guess the areas to which you're headed to, and at the end you're in this giant monastery complex that is basically a city, and you go in circles and visit the same areas like 3 times, I loved that design, i even drew a map of the entire complex and it made sense (even though Uncharted 1 was a very linear game) I loved the idea of the main protagonist and the enemy forces just stumbling around trying to find the treasure, and avoid each other. I know this had nothing to do with Bloodborne, but I just really felt like expressing myself here

I agree with most of your thoughts, the only thing I would have to add is that Dark Souls doesn't necessarily to be slow and patient, you can nearly as aggresive in a Dark Souls game, and it does make the game more punishing and difficult but ultimately more rewarding, it is just that Dark Souls heavily suggests that you use a shield and don't be greedy. For me, personally, Bloodborne and Dark Souls share the number 1 spot for my favorite game of all time, because the sum of the parts of both games make them incredible experiences. I don't mean to illegitimize your point at all, you don't need to like both series but there are certain things that you can miss in your experience if you don't finish a game or experiment with it.
