The problem is that boruto has no definite scaling. His opponent lack any showing. Their lack of statements and feats to distinguish how much stronger he has gotten if any. Only his borushiki self has any definite scaling. So it's pretty much unknown how strong he really is.

Boruto scales pretty well to Kawaki in base and karma forms. Ignoring that, we can consider that a much earlier form of Boruto was at least not completely irrelevant against Momoshiki and follow Boruto's growth since then. He also has a feat the 4th Hokage couldn't accomplish, such as creating a nature-infused rasengan. That feat alone puts him in low-kage level similar to Naruto with rasenshuriken. It also seems pretty clear that Boruto has been relative to Naruto since he lost Kurama, and while it's difficult to scale Naruto at that point, he still has sage mode. Add Boruto's hax with karma, and I think we have high kage level. I can't imagine him losing 1v1 to anyone in the Akatsuki who isn't an Uchiha or Pain, it becomes harder to answer after that. Now, if we include anime, Boruto slaps Akatsuki low diff based on his fight against Urashiki, but I'm not counting that.

Ao not having a Byakugan is the worst decision they could have made for his character, especially if they were going to decide to have him fight Boruto. This would have been an excellent time for Boruto to acknowledge his mother's heritage and use some Gentle Fist and for Ao to comment on remembering the fighting style. How Boruto can use his experience with Hanabi to overcome someone who has one. This could have been a great dynamic with Sarada as well, who's coming into her Sharingan. Imagine the quotes. "I am the son of Hinata Hyuga." "My eyes are better than yours!" "I've killed better Hyuga than you." It's such a missed opportunity. I do love the idea of him missing his other eye, forcing him to rely only on his Byakugan and seeing how that's changed him. Some panels really do give him a haggard veteran look and its fantastic, and I wish there was more of it in Naruto in general.

And Chapter 78 karma or maybe even base would scale above at least sage mode training Naruto. The issue with the Jonin guard argument is that you fail to mention that Kage choose the guys they trust. Ay doesn't trust bee and wants him to be protected (thus why he didn't choose him). Also they choose people whose skillsets helps with their abilities. Notice how most have a tracker shinobi of some sort on their team. Yes you MUST be useful in a fight at the highest levels but they choose guys that help them directly and are trustworthy/useful. If you look at it from that standpoint then the choices of guard makes sense for each village

It would be the 2 strongest Dojutsu vs Eachother. I'd say the Akatsuki wins if he doesn't use Momoshiki. Nagato can summon the Gedo statue, Summon animals, Summon the king of hell, snatch your soul out of your body, control gravity, throw chakra rods at you, absorb jutsu, summon 6 bodies to fight for him, shoot missiles at you and trap you in a giant ball of earth. Boruto gets clapped if it's him versus all of them or just pain. The rest of them could win based off of sheer experience and their abilities. Konan could suffocate him in paper, Itachi could drown him in Genjutsu, Kisame could easily fuse with Samehada and blitz Boruto, Sasori could spam his Iron sand, Hidan could perform his ritual and kill Boruto by stabbing himself, Kakuzu has Giant fireballs, Deidara could just send 1000 birds at Boruto and kill him, Tobi could spam Kamui and kill him like he did Konan and Orochimaru could just put a curse mark on him to make him go through pain ( no pun intended ) or just poison him. He loses in a 1v1 and vs all of them unless he uses Momoshiki.

The power scale is so different that you can’t even compare the two, Fast in Boruto looks slow in the Naruto series where you have characters appear and disappear in a blink of an eye, a destructive attack in Boruto (the giant Rasengan) looks dull in comparison to the destructive attacks in Naruto

Think I heard some where that the Boruto Novel of Boruto the Movie, considers Boruto and Sarada to be around Jonin Level. Different material and all but over all rating their base capabilties being around low to mid level Jonin is pretty good for their age and their actual rank. But yeah don't really think they can take on even Low End Ataksuki members. Karma Activated Boruto has issues he doesn't really know how to use it on his own or even properly if according to Code. But who knows unless it gives him enough of a power amp to blitz lower ranking memebers.

@@milesrieger7449 See I get that, but at the same time the point with Code is that in that fight Boruto was getting toyed with by Code cause he was interested in seeing how he performed with his Karma, hence his critique. And I think True Essance still gives Boruto a lot of raw power. And can absorb Ninjutsu. Though, would it be enough to subdue the more cunning members of the Ataksuki Duos? Like Blitzing Kakuzo and Hidan sure, or Deidra and Sasori if he avoid any cuts from Sasori's posion. Or those particle explosions from Deidra. But what of the more hax based members, like Itachi's Genjutsu. Or the more technical fighter in Pain with his 6 paths. With no prior knowlege and assuming True Essence Karma Boruto is higher end relative to them they could still pull out a win if they mange any of their win conditons if he's really caught off guard, be it Tsyukyomi and the sword of Totsuka from Itachi or that soul stealing move from Pain or maybe keep him at bay with all mighty push. Borushiki however could clear all those hurdles because not only he has an insane power increase that's proven, but also a higher battle IQ due to Momoshiki's actual experenice being in the driver's seat. So much he even innovated on Boruto's techinques himself such as the Rasendan.

Headcanon to assume Ao wasn't boosted in ability or combat efficiency by the multitude of scientific ninja weaponry he was enhanced with? I'd say so, because that was added to his body and clearly isn't just to move. That's for fighting. Otherwise he'd not have chakra blades, drones that meld and fire off his chakra in chakra blasts, or chakra canons throughout his body. I would say at a low-ball, he's equal to his former self. What I'd actually argue, is he's a fair amount stronger than that. We never got to see him do much in Shippuden, in battle. Only a little, so it is hard to judge that saying he's borderline, no stronger at all. Cap.

Someone of that calibur isn't even likely on Konohamaru's level in Boruto. We all know what he's capable of, even if he's been packed up more often than not. Why? Because of the power cliffing, that's why. Konohamaru probably wasn't sure of taking on cyborg Ao 1v1. Yet he took on an adult Jugo with likely more chakra and skill than ever in Shippuden. I would not see Ao of Shippuden, going 1v1 against a CM2 Jugo. Whether the past Jugo or especially the Boruto era Jugo. If Konohamaru can feel confident to take Jugo on as an adult, but not Ao; there's got to be a reason. We never knew how strong Ao was back in Shippuden. He never had enough showings to prove himself. I stated this, as did you. All we can do is speculate that, but his showing in Boruto has more than anything from Shippuden to show. All I'ma say, is I believe opposite of you, and I don't care to follow the other side's logic. Too headcanon, in my opinion. Like scientific technology hasn't been able to beef characters way more than before. Even in the Outers, like Garo for example. Inners got special treatment however, and were more compatible with experimentation as we've seen.

Another point to make about Borushiki is the fact that he might speed blitz Obito before he can even think to use Kamui. Minato was able to do this after slamming his Rasengan into Obito, he was sitting on the tree and recovering and Minato stabbed him and released the Nine Tails and Obito didn't have time to react and use Kamui. So Borushiki might actually just kill him because he's so fast, Obito wouldn't be able to react to him lol

But the fact that boruto could easily smack around code who has a superior version of FTG (a lot more versatile and seems to be no limit to how many times he can spam it) itachi just isn't there in speed neither is pain. I mean I refuse to believe sick itachi can handle that speed. Basically that leaves obito and I think boruto will catch obito off guard by following him into his dimension and obito will be off guard getting killed. Now if its just boruto without any reason to fight akatsuki boruto will have to retreat.

Borushiki will be overwhelmed because the Akatsuki aren’t like normal ninjas from the Boruto era. They have hax abilities just like him that can bypass strength differences. Itachi’s deadly genjutsu, and Tsukuyomi. Nagato’ s almighty push, pull, and ability to absorb chakra. Sasori’ s deadly poisons that will kill if the oponnent does not have poison immunity. Deidara’ s ultimate explosion techniques that disentegrate foes. Obito’ s space time ninjutsu ( space time jutsu is no joke, as seen with code).
