Braids don’t grow your hair. They help you to retain your length. Your hair will grow no matter what….the same can’t be said about length retention. Hair growth is not the same as length retention. ❤
@jowithalittlemo2 ай бұрын
Things I’ve learned: -don’t keep the same parts constantly. You’ll notice thinning in the parts because the tension is constantly concentrated on those parts. -keep your hair moisturized in protective styles to avoid matting and your parts don’t have to be perfect in the sense of straight lines, but they should be clean to avoid cross sectional tangling -keep protective styles 1-3 months to avoid over manipulation (I prefer 3 months because I can actually see the difference in my hair each time I touch it which motivates me to continue) -momma put grease in my hair growing up for a reason! It’s wonderful at locking in moisture long periods of time without costing a lot of money because you don’t use too much and you don’t have to use it often - do the bulk of detangling with your hands! detangling brushes (Unbrush is indeed worth the investment) to finish up only -if you’re a low porosity girlie like me for takedowns add warm water then a good detangling conditioner (don’t sleep on Aussi Moist) plastic cap and hooded dryer for about 15 mins and your hair will soften up a lot and allow you to take down the style easier to avoid ripping it out from frustration causing breakage! -make sure sections are even to avoid borrowing hair from other sections to finish off braids or twists this will help avoid breakage during takedown and help with thorough trims while in the style -and whatever you do PROTECT THOSE ENDS I recommend bobby pins or satin scrunches instead of hair ties satin scarf and or bonnet and oiling your ends 1-3 times a week depending on how your environment is -for a fun and cute switch up add beads this also will help if you hate shrinkage just make sure if you use rubber bands to hold them that you oil them down first

@deborahnkemjika_0124 күн бұрын
A very vital question. This is the only major challenge of braids as a long-term protective style. After my morning moisture routine, I brush my edges and flyways with my palms ✋ (you can use a mild brush), and then I wrap my head firmly with a silk scarf. I go ahead to do my house chores, bathe and dress up. By the time I'm done with my responsibilities and ready to step out of the house, I unwrap my head. This helps lay down my flyaways and makes my edges appear sleek. ☺️ Kinky wigs are okay too.

@@HettieMazv @HettieMazv Yes. 3 months is the longest time I've worn my braids for. It took that long because I was unusually occupied and not mentally prepared for my hair. Check the video titled “Best DIY for hair repair and curl definition”, it contains the special DIY recipe I used to safely take down my braids.
