fernandes has always been the same player. he was only playing well because we played counter attacking football, fast paced football which he thrives off and so does rashford for that matter. it suited the team and we did alright from it. now what youre seeing is the real fernandes who has no patience in a game setting when we need to keep hold of the ball and build up SLOWLY. hes never been a possession based player and thats why we're seeing considerably less numbers now than 3 years ago. ever since ten hag has come in the playstyle has switched and bruno has tried to become more patient and not waste chances like he used to but it just doesnt work. his numbers in the last 2 and a bit years are terrible for a cam if you think about it. 28 goals and 22 assists in the last 3 seasons is appalling and thats while playing poorly in the process, you cannot argue that he deserves to play ahead of mount or eriksen, the bruno lovers dont even have stats on their side now haha. the chances created stat is a completely misguided stat as well, its rubbish.

It's like with Ajax, when Dusan Tadic was captain and ETH was always loyal. Tadic always started, even though he was under public scrutiny. Same patern with ETH and Bruno. It's a stobborn habit, or a matter of trust. It's not that ETH is afraid to lose the dressing room. It could be that Bruno is not a player that is comfortable in smalle spaces. Besides, he has to be and to stay behind the center forward (Zirkzee) as a shadow attacker, so the striker can lay the ball off to Bruno within the box and create a shooting chance for him

Like mark said about ricky using stats.. always in your benefit.. and he does the same with bruno - "chances created, chances created" on repeat and yet he is 2nd to last in the league for ball lost and last season he was dispossesed almost 700times.. 700 compared to 500 chances created the result is he cost us 200 times more than did well... he needs benching and needs to change his style to keep composure on the ball

Here's the thing: Bruno has always been this poor. You sit there and spout off cherry picked stats to support your narrative, however, you VERY easily glossed over the amount of penalties that make up his goal tally. As for chances created, he is a stats padder because of his position. You compare him to others who not only play in better sides, but who are not the lone focal points. Bruno is the SOLE link from the back to the front. Only until recently are we seeing more involvement from the CDM and wingbacks, but for the most part, everything goes through Bruno and 'chances created" is a very subjective stat. If you pass the ball off and someone blasts it from 35 yards out, that's a chance. A very, very low chance shot, but a chance nonetheless. However, it is not the same as an incisive pass in the box that plays someone in on goal for an easy tap in or cut back. One is significantly a higher probability chance. There's also a reason that Bruno has one of the worst stats when it comes to supporting the rest of the team, unlike many players he's routinely compared to - it's all selfish. KDB has competing numbers yet the City midfield creates massive chances as a whole, and he's just ONE piece of that. Now that we have different players and have a better possession based system, Bruno cannot fit it. He thrived in COVID, he thrived in a structureless club, but being the best out of a pile of shit is still a pile of shit. A "great counter attacking #10" is a joke - so he can only shine when the defense is at a deficit? WORLD CLASS PLAYER RIGHT THERE! Maybe we should play against some 7 year olds and hand him the Ballon d'Or. The fact of the matter is that Bruno wouldn't walk into any top side. Need proof? Look at the transfer market. Who was knocking the door? Saudi Arabia? What the fuck? Not any other club in England? France? Spain? Italy? NO ONE WANTS HIM. Him getting a new contract gave him an out. He should be considered fortunate and lucky. As for Rashford, he's trash. Sorry, but only trying and playing well in a contract year isn't the standard we should be accepting. I can accept a player that's had a downturn but is good enough for the club, but that's not Rashford. A player who's struggling and can be considered "one of the best LW in the world" (LMFAO) should put in a shit regardless. I give a lot of grace for players who are trying and it's just not coming off, for example Dalot when he has a bad game I can accept because he's trying and I know he'll bounce back. Rashford fucking walks around. Defensively he does fuck all. Attacking, sorry, he also does little to fuck all. He beats one man, MAYBE, and loses the ball. When the ball is on the opposite wing, he doesn't make a run on the far post. He does the bare minimum. That's not a sign of a great player going through a rough patch, he's a petulant, entitled child who wants his paycheck and to pout. These players are remembered for MOMENTS and fans completely dismiss their performances every match. Bruno misplaces so many passes and chooses the wrong option more times than not. But he's not remembered for that, because MAYBE he gets the game winning goal or assist and that's all you remember. You have excused the other 99% of the match. Cherry picking stats and isolating them for a narrative as a "positive" agenda is just spinning the argument to favor your narrative. Bruno is not good enough, he never has been for where we want to go and what we want to achieve. That's it. Hard stop. Also, you're just bashing fans who you claim won't be happy if United wins and Bruno is in the side and calling on us to be happy. So what is your take when United wins, but Bruno is still playing like shit? We can be happy with a win, but we can't dismiss players who are not performing and will arguably never perform with him in the current role. His role is too important for how this team builds up, being that focal link, yet he cannot play the way we need or want. He needs to go. He cannot and will not adapt.

Mark, Bruno is a good player. He just doesn't fit what we are doing any longer. Let's first look at his attributes. He is fearless, has an unlimited motor, is mobile, and revels in big moments. However, he is petulant and not a good holder of the ball. When we packed the box and countered often, Bruno thrived in open space as he doesn't panic nor is he going to run out of steam. Furthermore, Fred would often disrupt play and give Bruno an opportunity to attack in open space after a turnover in the midfield. Again, good circumstance for Bruno. But Bruno is not equipped to play against a low block with intricate passes, dribbling in tight spaces, or recycling the ball. With us playing up the pitch more often, we are playing more compact against more low blocks. No more Fred and we aren't forcing many turnovers in the midfield either. Last season, Bruno did benefit some from turnovers from the high press and the quick attack we want to do from that. But with Rasmus injured, the front three of Rashford, Zirkzee, and Amad aren't as effective as Rashford, Rasmus, and Garnacho last season, or even Antony in place of Rashford/Garnacho when subbed (Antony works hard on defense). With us rarely countering this year, and not having quick attack scenarios forced by a press or winning a turnover in the midfield, Bruno has no opportunities to express himself. He just hears the groaning and his petulance causes him to make more bad decisions trying to prove people wrong. We need a more consistent, intricate possessor of the ball in his position that works better with our playing style under ETH.

Bruno did not play well last season. But so did the whole team. Unlike most other players though Bruno worked his ass of for the team and was a leader when most others weren't. So no wonder Ten Hag is loyal to him. When more players come through with leadership on the pitch, Ten Hag will rotate him more.
