i get the idea of what a hat is supposed to look like as in filling out your shoulders and all that, but i like to choose what im comfortable wearing even if it doesnt follow the norm.

I like to wear the kind that keeps the rain off my neck, shoulders and chest at the same time. A 4 3/4" brim does that for me.

Why buy a custom hat? I decided to make my own, made all the tools, learned all I could about beaver fur felt and Bob's your uncle! Everytime I make myself a new hat It costs less and less to have an expensive hat!

Only way to buy a hat!!! Put your head in a conformer and you will know why. Pure beaver or pure beaver belly still cheaper from a custom hatter, than buying a pure beaver off the rack. Support the hatters in your area.

Hats that are hard creased suck. Get a hat and shape it with your own hand over time.

@@scottjones8891 I used to wear Panama hats in the Sam Houston style because I like flat brims. But now I wear felt. The cattleman’s crease is mostly what is available, so that what I get. I flatten the brim and curl the front sides up. I do have a few hats with the Gus crease. Once the hat is broken in, it feels great. I was a little harsh on the creased brims.
