I agree with the benefits of the rotating table for versatility 100%. Saves a lot of setup time.

Greetings from the 🇬🇧 UK. I enjoyed your film and your appraisal of the drill press. Pillar drill is the more common name for these machines in Britain. I agree wholeheartedly with your appraisal. Machines of this era are superb and ought to be saved and used wherever possible. We are lucky in Britain in that we have lots of museums both large and small that care for our industrial heritage, and many old machines in the hands of enthusiasts. It is important for us here in Britain to have this link to our past because people need to understand that the industrial revolution began and came to fruition in our country. The concept of an industrialised society originates here. When I see old machinery preserved it is a sign of appreciation and gratitude to those giants who came before us, whose shoulders we now stand on. I like your phrase "apprentice marks" I have seen plenty of those in my time and not just made by apprentices! Your drill press is incredibly well built, the ways on the column are reminiscent of what would be found on a lathe. A true beast of a machine that is clearly in the right hands now.

Love my Cincinnati 21. All my machines are “old” and honestly have more capability then most newer stuff I have a oesterlien universal mill from early 1920s and a Hamilton 16” lathe from the early 1920s. Enjoy seeing someone else like old iron

Thanks for sharing. I can see many benefits with using a camelback in the wood shop. One question though, is there an easy (or built in) way to lock the rotating table?

@@smalltownmachineshop6860 I am looking forward to seeing yours run. I've watched all the videos of it so far. Thanks for taking the time for us to enjoy. I just make shorts to share with my kids and friends and post a few of them on The Hobby Machinist forum. I love the old iron. "When Cast-iron was King."
