The trick with FOV is the size of your screen, and also the shape. If you have a wraparound screen (all 3 of you reading this comment XD) then there's basically no real downside to maxing out your FOV. The reason things get harder to see when you increase your FOV is that distances aren't the same at the edges of the screen as they are at the center: it's called fisheying. On a smaller screen, you've got to be really careful with your FOV, because with scaled down aspect ratio and resolution a high FOV will make targets invisible at range. As a PC player with an 18in screen, I usually settle mu FOV at around 95, especially since I spend a decent amount of my time sniping, target acquisition is super important.

107 FOV is too high even for me on PC and I'm 2ft away from my 27" monitor. I prefer around 90, maybe 95 depending on the game. For most console players, 107 is ridiculously high, especially if playing on a TV from further away. High FOV results in everything being much smaller and things look like they're much further away. The only benefit is peripheral vision. On a controller especially, higher FOV can be very detrimental not only to visibility, but also accuracy. I recommend keeping the FOV at 80 - 95 on consoles (default is 80.) FOV really isn't that big of an advantage as a lot of console people think it is. Keep in mind that during the golden age of COD, default FOV on consoles was around 65 - 68. The visibility issue in Cold War is the result of a bunch of different things, one of them being higher default FOV (80) and players increasing their FOV further making the problem worse, large and cluttered maps, high contrast lighting/visuals, soldiers blending into the environment and everyone looking almost the same regardless of which team they're on.

Field of view, unsurprisingly, depends on how much of your field of view the screen fills up. Which is dependent on how close you sit to the screen and how big the screen is. So the sweet spot is different for every setup.

My issue with the Beta/Alpha was the fact that everyone has access to the same set of operators which means both teams have the same looking skins. With MW at least you know you are either the Coalition or Allegiance. My problem with Black Ops 3&4 was the fact that I didn't know who was on my team. So hopefully the full game actually tackles this issue.

Apparently SBMM has been tweaked to the point where they look beyond just your KD and ranking. They look at your movement, the type of weapons you use etc. they look at small details which is crazy

Been playing with 110 FOV on PC for 8 years now and never had problems with it. Even when being practicly blind on one eye I didn't have any issues seeing players in the beta

FOV is personal preference. I’d recommend using different values and finding what allows for a balance of visibility between seeing enemies far out and also having your peripherals widened and clear 👍🏼

I adjusted accordingly, when I had a LMG I had it turned up slight to move at AR speed like 105-110. When I used my SMG I went up to 119 to fly pass ppl b4 they could react. Also larger maps I kept it low!

It takes some time to get used to, but 110 is the sweet spot for me. Targets get really small though, but I use Aimtastic, to practice strafing, hitting moving targets, and reaction time. Once you get used to your FOV high, you won't be able to go back to anything lower, you'll feel boxed in. Everyone rushed in my games, everyone was a sniper, but a couple quick scopes dudes get scared, and fall back. I deal with the snipers when the get annoying. I would leave the lobby if a dude was playing like GG, and my teammates where steadily feeding him kills on a ego challenge. FFA, isn't a good game mode for rushers, I can't wait around like that.

As a PC player, back when I last played cod on BO4 I liked the FOV closer to what console is. I could see people better and my aim felt more controlled. I do however like the way the game looks and feels at max FOV, the game feels faster and more responsive to me where as default FOV feels kind of sluggish.

The fov sweet spot is maxed out.... When you have a larger feild of view you get more "intel" on your surroundings and enemies, limiting yourself is only sabotaging yourself, it's a very uncomfortable switch but once you get used to it you'll never ever wanna go back, battlefield opened my eyes to this and it works for almost all fps, you get a wider view and the sides are kinda like zoomed in so you can see farther away easier from the border of your screens

FoV is subjective, the higher the number the more distance youre able to see left and right, though everything will seem farther. the lower the number the closer things will seem but you wont have good peripheral vision as to whats on your side

FOV is subjective Thunder. You should have it as as high as you feel comfortable. If targets are too small to see on messy maps or at ranges where they can kill you with an AR or SMG then it's too high. For most people it's somewhere between 90-110, but really it's trial and error.

Everyone shittin on this beta but I absolutely loved being able to run around the maps at full speed with my SMG not worrying about some dude hearing me through the walls and camping. Even with the shitty maps in the beta I was able to move with ninja and was actually able to play my playstyle

The other thing that makes it hard to tell who is who is the fact that character models don’t seem to be faction specific. Treyarch needs to go back to faction specific character models.

I actually tried to camp but it’s difficult. I can’t camp for shit- I just love moving around in this game. Best FOV for console is *80-95*

I been saying that for a while, get rid of KD monitoring stats. Should just be all fun. Just have challenge awards, character skin, weapon camos, weapon cosmetics.

This game is a campers paradise. Especially with the score system. The higher the killstreak, the more points you will get. People will camp and get killstreaks, not play the objective whatsoever and get over 15k points while I get more kills and have 3x the objective as them. All because of camping.

I played on 100 FOV for the beta, I got used to it and I think it was the “sweet spot”, I’ll probably play around with it a little more after launch though.

It's easy with FOV, crank it up as high as possible w/o introducing "fish-eye" effect. Also seat spacing is important, usually console with (big) TV you seat further away than on PC monitor so the FOV should be lower so stuff does not appear too small on screen.
