The American Justice System is a lot like the Cdn Justice System: it protects the criminal/perpetrator more than the victim/survivor. It used to be the other way around. The victim came first and the criminal was dealt with properly. It happens here in Canada too (if that's any consolation).

I live in Salt lake city & had the very surreal "opportunity" of observing this woman in the flesh. Way back when Elizabeth was first found & they arrested her kidnappers, I just so happened to be a young delinquent(20 yrs old). I was in the Salt lake county Jail for shoplifting. (I long since found may way back to being a productive member of society) They had her in a cell in the pod I was in. She wasn't allowed to come out with us. She came out while we were locked down, but she walked right past my window over and over as she circled the perimeter on her time out. She didn't blink...not once, the entire time I was there. I'll never forget it. I remember her eyes seeming like marbles in a wax figure, set to a never ending forward stare. She was clearly very mentally bankrupt. There seemed to be a deep void behind those eyes. I hope they plan to keep a close watch on her, to make sure nothing concerning materializes in that void. I hope they are better at following through on her mental health once she's free, than they were while she has served her sentence. For everyone's sake.

Does anybody get that.??? This is insane. It makes no sense at all and possibly never will because victims are not assured that wants to love puts these people behind bars that they are safe for the rest of their life. It's totally ridiculous there is no responsible people in the court system these days. I never see law enforcement griping about these people being let free. It's always the common people who fight for adjust and safe word for our kids that are appalled. Doesn't anybody get tired of complaining about the same things over and over again??? And to add to the insanity of this, how can someone like this be released back into society?! The whole rehabilitation/second chance argument doesn't stand with me.
