my old girl Lucy had the same condition as Oberon, its an incredibly stressing sight to see because she couldn't breathe. She was snooring while awake and she was getting so stiff and ridged. She also had a cancerous lump in her neck ; being shy of 14 years i was expecting her health to decline, the only thing that got me was that she really declined within a weekend... we had a home service vet come by in her final moments, shout out to Peaceful Pet Passing in NorCal!! Lucy passed in her backyard surrounded by her grass, ball-ball and family..

Home assisted dying is the best thing you can ever do for your pet. Normal euthanasia in a vet's office is a very scary thing for them. And sometimes the process can be much more brutal and sudden, because vets don't want to be bothered sedating the pet and making them peaceful and unconscious before they give them the life-ending drug. I had the most wonderful vet who does this for a living, she was the kindest person you would ever meet. She made it a healing, peaceful process instead of a terrifying one. So when your pet gets older, start planning to find a house-call vet who does assisted dying for a full-time job, not a normal vet.

I had pharyngeal paralysis. It was terrible. I couldn't speak above a whisper and drinking liquids was a nightmare. The doctor didn't do all that tho, they harvested some fat (plenty to pick from) and injected it into the vocal cords. God bless Scott and Michael for being willing to do this for an elderly dog. I wanna move to the UK!

The UK is the best country in the world. I am Spanish and have married an English man and lived in London for the past 20 years before that after Spain I lived in Italy and Belgium. I wouldn't change the UK from any country not even Spain. Health care is amazing, they don't look to foreigners with prejudice on my opinion. If you can contribute as a normal human being they are the most welcoming people. Very open minded about everything. 🙂👌

These doctors are AMAZING, I wish we had house calls where I live in the USA 🇺🇸. Horrible where I live EVERYTHING over here no house calls plus come in ALWAYS HAVE to run thousands of tests for a very simple thing that you know for fact you didn’t need .And still send you home with LITTLE reassurance that everything‘s gonna be OK. We have mobile vets where I live. Of course, very expensive!!! But, worth it when needed. Also mobile grooming vans for people who can't get out.

No mobile anything here and the vets here charge an arm and a leg and there is only one non profit vet office in the whole of the lower mainland (Vancouver and surrounding areas) can only imagine that mobile ones would be double the price ...just to walk into my vet office it is $80. If u land at emergency vet to walk in $160

I live in a medium sized city in Florida, we're really desperate for vets that make house calls. My family has a cat who can't tolerate travel, after having been in a car accident with us a few years ago. Meds haven't helped his anxiety, which leads to him voiding on himself and injuring himself in the carrier. We have one vet who does house calls, but she hasn't taken new clients since 2019.

My old dog, Leo, had the same condition. Not as worse, and it did not get more worse, because he died of severe pancreatitis. He nearly reached his 14th birthday. But he had too many issues in sum, with thyroid disease since he was 9, to live longer. RIP, my good boy. Matiu and I miss you a lot!

My Dexter also has LP. The thing is, I don't believe it's called Larengeal Paralysis anymore. It's called GOLPP now. Geriatric onset Larengeal Paralysis Polynuropathy. It's been determined that the deterioration of hind leg function is also tied to this condition. It causes no pain in the hind legs, but dogs with this condition might end up being in wheelchairs.

We can't exactly tell Fido to hold their breath. It is seriously the same x-ray machine as in a human facility, we just time when we press the button. We watch the dog's breathing and time the pressing of the button when the dog inhales.
