Id recommend some lower back and hamstring exercises! "Goodmornings" "back extensions" "forward folds" "stiff leg deadlifts". Also remember to stretch and warm up before and after going out there. You may be experiencing tightness from overactivation of muscles you dont normally use. Roll out your back with a foam roller and take care of yourself!!

Hi Candice, thanks for question. Paddle height and blade size can be a contributing factor. As can your paddling technique. A paddle that's too short will give you lower back pain as you're reaching further forward and lower. Strengthening your core muscles will help a lot to take the strain off your back. As Florjan said, stretching and exercises will help too. How about the width of the board? Mine is 34" and feels sluggish and tracking is terrible. I need to reevaluate my technique to attempt to match the "C" paddle technique.

Thanks for the comment. At 34" wide, this width may change your paddle stroke as you need to really lean over the rails to keep your paddle vertical. If you need that width for stability though, try a bigger fin in your board, or yes, try including the C or J technique in your paddle stroke. Hope this helps! Thanks, Beau

@@SUPboardermag Unfortunately the board comes with 3 permanent fins so I can’t change anything out. May consider getting a different board, but for now will have to try your tips. Thanks
