Another tip that might help you guys: Sometimes you can't import the video because the filename has a special character in it, like emojis or any other weird ones. Try renaming it to something more simple and it may work.

at the 1:00 mark in the video click the tool icon and go to audio codec and check the "keep original audio track" that's what worked for me

This method works! Was really frustrated since morning. Also, if you end up getting a video without audio (like me), you change the setting to the desired audio format using the setting icon near the format selection drop down.

What kills me is on my laptop I was working with mp4 files no issues... I got a newer desktop system to handle a very very large amount of files not just one like you showed... Don't work. So weird. I bet you this is only for free version too. Studio version probably works so they found a way to limit again. This is as bad as Microsoft and their HEVC issues to make you pay.

if you convert the video and have no audio, before clicking start, go to the audio codec section and check "keep original etc..."

Dude, just import through the menu and not drag and drop. Your Mp4 files will open without the STUPID step of coverting using vlc - a terrible converation option that gives you very limited options compared to handbrake.

Hmm, I keep getting a message that says "The output file already exists. If recording continues, the file will be overridden and its content will be lost." I've tried saving it to a different folder, confirming the overwrite, but nothing works. However, I tried converting the file format through a conversion site and it worked perfectly! If I hadn't watched this I never would have tried that, so thank you! Your exact method didn't work, but you gave me the knowledge to find another way.
