New York seeps into your bloodstream like a drug. I always say I love getting the hell out of town, but I love coming back even more. The energy can be like a an acid trip rollercoaster one moment, a medium moment with friends eating the best food you’ve ever experienced, then you step into Hudson River Park or Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the sun is setting, sailboats pass before you, it’s ridiculously quiet, the air is- how can it be? Sweet, and, at least for those moments, you can’t imagine living anywhere else in the world…That’s why I always knew Casey & Fam would return one day…New York is in our bloodstreams.

people that didn't grow up in places like NY or Boston or Philly might not get Casey, but people that grew up IN THE CITY might. it's like a sense of ownership. you know all the locals, you know which streets to take/avoid, you know the REAL train schedule (not the printed pamphlet schedules) so well that you could walk the tracks from 1 station to the next without fear of being hit. you and your friends gawk at in-jokes and call people that just moved there "tourists". that's what it is to be a townie. it doesn't help Casey's neurosis that he moved to literally the exact opposite end of the east coast/west coast violence.
@SoulEternalPeaceWarrior773 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there's nothing like East Coast hospitality. It's genuine & warm, you FEEL people out there. LA is cold, isolated & obsessed with status, follower counts, botox. In LA you are a "brand" or a product before you are a person. In NY & the east coast it's the exact opposite.
@ril3yjordan3 жыл бұрын

Casey has that syndrome where victims start to love their kidnappers or abusers. Nyc beats you up and down, when you leave you start to crave that beating. That’s my experience. I mean who loves ridiculous taxes, outrageous working schedules, dirty environment, rat infested , old subway and infrastructure, expensive tiny apartments/ noisy filthy air, rainy and cold throughout the year with no sunshine, expensive everything, bad traffic, hard to get around, never have any free time. I mean this list goes on
@Xx_Draxxo_xX3 жыл бұрын
Stockholm syndrome
@prasad5303 жыл бұрын
You just don't get it. I don't agree with all those negatives on your list, but your broader implication that there are many cons is absolutely true. However, if you have an adventurous spirit and love new experiences, NYC offers an unparalleled existence - I would argue globally, but at least in the US - that outweighs anything on your list. I want access to best music, the best food, the best museums, the most interesting and diverse people, the history, the most innovative businesses, etc. etc. Tying that all together is the pedestrian lifestyle which is really the key. To love New York, you have to love walking and being outside. Sometimes the streets are busy, sometimes they are empty but it's always better than being stuck in a car, in my opinion. New York is about serendipity, and that's beautiful. You can turn the corner or take a different street and find something new and amazing practically ever single day. I lived in NYC for ten years and gave it up recently to move to a suburban environment, and it's so boring in comparison, even if I live on a nice clean leafy street. PS - The weather is not cold and rainy all year (did you actually live there?), traffic does suck but you shouldn't be driving anyway, and it is very easy to get to all major parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan on the subway, which, yes is old, but is definitely way more reliable than haters claim.
@BIGGOODBOY3 жыл бұрын
@@prasad530 yes I lived there for 7+ years. Only in Manhattan though, and let’s be honest no one in manhatan ever makes it out to brooklyn or anywhere else. I agree it has the best museums but innovation, food, music and some of the other stuff you mentioned is all over now not just nyc. Sure it has a lot of cool pop ups and stuff like that but again everywhere else is like that too now. Cali has plenty of that, texas Florida Nevada Colorado.. list goes on.. . It was cool while I was young but not for me now I have different priorities in life. Also I do think it’s changing a lot but I don’t want to argue about that becusse you’ll probably disagree like most people thst have Stockholm syndrome with nyc. And are you kidding me it’s freezing through most of the year!! You got snow storms almost every yesr. Good luck getting to work without freezing your ass off and the hassle of walking through the snow and rain to get to your uber or subway. And in the summers it’s rainy and gloomy or humid that’s why everyone has to plan their weekends in the summer becusse they have to make the most out of each summer and the limited amount of sun/free time thst they have. I mean you can only go out to a bar or restaurant so much before it gets old. I’m happier not living there but I would visit or go for a month or something I’ll give you that. But all this dreamy talk about nyc is just an act it’s a miserable place and most people get stuck there with work and life then once they retire they can’t wait to gtfo. Or you end up staying there as a lonley old person. Plenty of them there Also if you like to be outside there are plenty other places that you should go to thst have better weather and cleaner air. Not failing infrastructure, rodents running around, loud cars around.
