Yes I have this problem ( 2 young ones + a senior kitten ) . Usually doors are open and they have free access to out doors , but at the moment whilst its cold i try to close doors to keep heat in - but they just wont have it, they can all be fast asleep and most times if I close doors they will wake up and demand to go out . Drives you mad but their butler always gives in !

Our cat always tries to push open our bedroom door at night. But when he's not cuddling, he's meowing loudly in the master bath and checking the Magical Lizard Tub, hence his banishment 😂

lol i got my cat and kept her in my room during the first few hours i had her, but I have a small apartment and let her explore for a bit while I was home. i work overnights, and my first night at work (32 hours ish after getting her) I put her in my (large) bedroom, with access to food water and bathroom/litterbox . I got home the next morning and she HISSED at me . Point taken. I was nervous, but she quickly adapted to the rest of the space. And she's a giant cuddle bug, so I think it was a combination of nerves being by herself for the first time for an extended period of time (work hours), and being sequestered in the space when she had been out of it. She forgave me relatively quickly. She LOVES cuddles, but has to be on HER terms. If I bring her into my bedroom, she'll nope out of it. However, when she comes in when she wants to, she's glued to me. Appointment via zoom? Nope not nearby . Right now? Right next to me. I'm sure she'd be in my lap if i weren't on my laptop.

Our two new kittens (8ish months old, uncertain as they were born in the wild ) and they only stayed hating door, when they learned there was something on the other side. Also they are attached to the whole family so they need to check on us.

my cat doesnt really care. she has a whole room in my house. i keep it open during the day and close the door at night so the dog doesnt mess with her or the litter box. when i open the door i usually find her just laying around

@Scoobawoo.......My cat has the whole of my upstairs which I call the cat apartment and she comes and goes at will, all doors are open to her. The "slave" has learnt this is important.

We play this game when I use the bathroom when someone else is around. The rest of the time I have resigned myself to peeing with the door ajar.

When is a door not a door? When you have a cat. (When it’s ajar) (I have one, the white menace, that loses his mind if any door is closed. He even wants in closets. The princess beast could care less, she’s in another room doing her thing.)

there're certain doors that are closed to him most of the time and he sits and meows until someone opens it for him, or he paws at the gap but he's ok probably cos the rest of the house that he has access to at all times gives him plenty of space, and his own room. nah, baby gate or tall gate won't work. he jumps straight onto the top of our 1.8m tall fence and sits on top. I doubt the gates will work....but yeah, most doors are slightly ajar (using baby door jam thingy at top of door) just enough for him to waltz in so that helps with heat/cold and keeps him happy.

My kitties HATE closed doors, especially Penny. I mean, I hate closed doors too... that's why I prefer to live by myself in a studio.. one open space and since it's just me I don't have to close the bathroom door. I even keep closet doors open or remove them completely and put up a suspension rod and bead curtain.

I keep all my doors open at all times except when I'm changing the sheets on my bed, if I let my cat in, the chore will take forever. She doesn't want to play with me but wants to flatten everything I just fluffed up. She does complain but after I open the door she soon forgets.

Yes, one must profusely apologise to cat for closing door! But, only way to also keep cats ‘domain’ free from grandchildren. One raises one’s own children to respect cats and dogs territories ( younger generations do not share the same values) also, we had bigger houses when our children were young. Now down to very small place and very quick grand babies ! Apologies to cats! 🙀🙀🙀😾😾😾👵🇦🇺
