With a new year upon us, everyone is talking about "detoxing" to improve your health and get rid of any "toxins" accumulated over the holidays. One popular method of cleansing the system is through "Charcoal Detoxing" - taking activated charcoal in pill form or dissolved in liquid. Not only is this practice pointless, it can also be potentially dangerous. Find out "The Sitch" on charcoal detoxing in today's video.

Yes exactly same here. And I am a gut specialist and cellular nutrition specialist. What she may not know is that activated charcoal is to be taken on an empty stomach away from foods, medication and supplements, so that it will not adsorb anything you are taking. Hence taking your vitamins and foods 3 hrs after you have taken activated charcoal. I am from Grenada! :) Had a big glass this morning...I am good to go..43yrs young and fab...lol

She's not really saying it doesn't work, she's more so alluding to the fact that it will take out BOTH the bad and good bacteria, nutrients etc. Which if done too often will deprive your body of what it needs. So using it every once in awhile is fine, but using it regularly will cost you in the end.

I'm using activated charcoal for my mother, who up until 5 years ago (she recently moved) was healthy and full of vitality. She was exposed to toxic mold for over 20 years. She was diagnosed with asthma. Then hypothyroidism and the levothyroxine they prescribed ruined her ability to function. Then shrinking brain syndrome. I got frustrated as the meds seemed to exacerbate her issues. She got fired, can't drive, gets confused playing go fish... I got tired of the symptom treating and doctors refusing to check her for toxins. So I'm detoxing her as we speak. She's only been on a diet of freshness, activated charcoal and ginger for 3 days. Going tho start milk thistle soon. No miracle yet. Praying and trusting God to guide us. I wouldn't write off activated charcoal! I disagree with these claims, and I've done extensive research. But I'm dealing with extreme, long exposure, complete medical and cognitive decline. She's on ginger, vitamin C, and I'll be introducing milk thistle tomorrow. B vitamins too..

Charcoal lowers the concentration of total lipids, cholesterol, and triglycerides in the blood serum, liver, heart and brain. In one study on patients with high cholesterol, reported in August, 1986 in the British journal, The Lancet, two tablespoons (8 gms) of activated charcoal taken three times a day for four weeks, lowered total cholesterol 25%, lowered LDL cholesterol 41%, and doubled their HDL/LDL (high-density lipoprotein/low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol ratio. Kidney International Supplement (June 1978) demonstrated that activated charcoal is able to significantly reduce serum triglycerides (up to 76%) in severely hyperlipidemic patients, and suggested that "charcoal may find applicability in the management of azotemic diabetic and nephrotic hyperlipidemia." These findings were again confirmed in a Finnish study reported in the European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology in 1989. Seven patients were fed 4,8,16, or 32g of activated charcoal per day. "Serum total and LDL-cholesterol were decreased (maximum 29% and 41%, respectively) and the ratio of HDL/LDL- cholesterol was increased (maximum 121%) by charcoal in a dose dependent manner." In another study of ten patients with severe hypercholesterolaemia the effectiveness of activated charcoal was compared to cholestyramine (Questran®). Activated charcoal was found to lower total serum cholesterol, and raise the HDL/LDL ratio on a par with cholestyramine and also reduced serum triglycerides, whereas cholestyramine raised serum triglycerides!

A few rules if unfamiliar with AC: 1. 2 hours before/after meals, supplements, or medications 2. Double the amount of water you drink in a day (so it gets flushed out after else the toxins will absorb into the body again) 3. Magnesium or some SAFE laxative. I use Epsom salt as it's cheap and pure. (To flush it out, same as the water) 4. No more than 30 days at a time 5. Find your right dosage 6. Make sure to eat non-sensitive foods and find out if anything else is hindering your health.

Informed people take it for heavy metal build up, and most people’s liver and kidneys are not running optimally. This video sounded a bit like fluff when you talked about flushing out sugar and such. I’ve never even heard of it doing that. It’s pretty obvious that it doesn’t, but what it does do is attract heavy metals and other toxins by a process called adsorption. The idea of charcoal having the opposite charge of the tocsin this magnetizing it in a sense.
@WhitneyERDN
@WhitneyERDN 4 жыл бұрын
Totally get what you're saying about adsorption, unfortunately, charcoal doesn't enter your bloodstream. It remains in the digestive track "outside" your body. So the only heavy metals it would be able to adsorb are those that were just consumed, not the ones that are stored in fat tissue.

Crosses the blood brain barrier and removes heavy metals like lead for instance...which like carbon (activated charcoal) is a valence 4 electron ...helping binding...correct me if I am wrong. Most of the other things in your video are correct, but emergency rooms use activated charcoal only as a supplement to other more relied upon sources for success in ridding the body of toxins in emergency cases. You explanation reminds me of an argument made to me regarding sublingual growth hormone benefits...yet the body cannot assimilate like this. Is it to your knowledge then that activated charcoal does not cross the blood brain barrier? What about bonding related benefits leaning towards efficacy of AC in relation to electron count...lead is 4 also. Usually, if I see a video that seems to have no possible benefit by maker of video giving claim AGAINST efficacy of product being discussed...I will either believe what is being said or know the speaker has competition in mind. If you answered my questions I'd feel thankful...and maybe so would your viewers. It is my opinion your assessment is wrong. The only expression I would give as most important might be interesting to viewers is fact that calcium is almost identical to lead under a microscope...and if the bones need calcium and lead is around, this is an invitation to osteoporosis. On this basis, take the charcoal perhaps three hours before you have calcium introduced into your body...as calcium needs time to settle in the intestines before it begins to be absorbed. Also be aware that calcium clogs the arteries as much as fat does...maybe even more, as some studies show. I myself take magnesium glycinate for its chelation properties and get most of my calcium from foods. I stop eating three hours before bed and take my activated charcoal before bed...then I slam water upon waking, then take mag. glyc. with multi powder with first meal an hour after the slam...hope this helps.

@@WhitneyERDN Well the metals that get shuffled from your tissues by other chelating agents like chlorella and edta will pass through your gut were a huge chunk usually gets reabsorbed and can basically retoxifiy you creating a whole host of nasty symptoms , thats where charcoal comes in helping you catch those metals and release them through your stool.Most well known heavy metal detox practitioners use charcoal in their arsenal i would venture to say that it is essential for this kind of detoxification otherwise reabsorption is almost a guarantee in most cases. Also these toxins can get stuck in your digestive tract leading to other detoxification methods to provide very poor results.You seem to have a lot of opinions about things you don't know much about.

So I dont want to be rude, but you gave no studies or links to disprove anything. May I ask, do you have a degree? And if so, in what? I'm all for hearing counter points but this seems to be just your opinion. And with regards to activated charcoal and alchohol poisoning, yes once it gets in the blood it doesnt help, however if taken AS YOU DRINK, then yes it does bind and help your body not absorb as much alchohol, thus preventing poisoning. While I agree there is a lot of fake claims, I would like to see more evidence from you and not just a pretty girl in her kitchen telling me her opinion.

She's just giving her opinion she knows no better than anybody else you can't tell somebody what's right or wrong if they have experience something positive or negative For themselves. Also it doesn't matter if she has a degree or a certificate. You've got doctors who don't know to much of anything at all About nutrition and even if they did still doesn't mean it's going to work for everybody. so it all in what you want To believe in and experience for yourself but unfortunately you get negative comments because you're trying to persuade someone from what they already believe in Or no for themselves. Funny video!

I hate to tell u little girl ur full of bs. I've given it to dogs that people thought were hours or mins from death. Just have them running around the next day playing. There is some truth to what ur saying I must agree. Yes u can strip ur body of needed metals, minerals, and vitamins if u take to much and do nothing to replace them. Yes the body needs to be well hydrated and ur bowels moving when u take it or all the bad things it pulls from ur body will just move to another place in ur body. So do understand this everyone before taking. It's very safe for cats and dogs if u think or know they have been poison. I try to give it to my dogs twice a year just because of all the bad things I know they pickup from the grass, water and everything else they put in there mouth and body. Just mix about a teaspoon per big dog (less if their small or cats) with something they like and feed it to them or mix with water in a syringe that has no needle and shoot down their throat. U will see ur dog feeling so much better.

This is overly generalized according to medical websites. It can detox some heavy metals which the body can't eliminate. Please do more research on this?

How sad, how sad when one allows ignorance on a subject distorts its proven benefits. Some of what you say may be true, but charcoal has proven to be beneficial in may ways. Your loss, but don't spoil it for others. God's richest blessings may be bestowed upon you.

Yeah, so just 'acute' poisoning? Then why is it an alternative to cholestyramine for Aubagio washout over a span of 11 days? I think a lot of people know a lot more than you do about what charcoal can and cannot do. And I've never once experienced diarrhea, vomiting, or constipation from taking it.

What about taking Activated charcoal before removing mercury teeth.
@chrisseid4431
@chrisseid4431 5 ай бұрын
I have used activated charcoal many times as a decolorizing step when purifying proteins from yeast expression systems. These chromophores are considered as toxic by products of yeast and the charcoal works very well. Therefore it makes sense that small molecule impurities and toxins produced by bugs in your gut could be bound and removed by the activated charcoal. As far as removing alcohol and absorbing sugar this is likely rubbish. Only small molecules can get into the pores of the charcoal where they get trapped.
