Well, the Berrymore, Liu and Diaz's movie was were the tv show left off with new Angels. That movie had a returning cast member. That is why it worked. 2019 movie did not work, but it also had a social justice message with it.

Spitfirethedragon The old movies mainly worked because they were fun and the trailer was clear about this. They weren’t serious, they weren’t boring and had some great actresses and actors alike. When we watched the trailer back then, we wanted to see the movie. I watched the trailer of the new version and forgot about it immediately. Hell, when I saw the trailer a second time, it took quite some time to even remember that I already watched it.

I respectfully disagree. Were they doing an actual review of the movie I'd be right there with you. However, they're not reviewing it. They're giving their opinion on why it didn't draw in audiences. Moreover they're mostly right. The advert budget was pitiful, the I.P. is aging and very few actually wanted to see a reboot. I'm (obviously) not in this movies target demographic, but my wife and daughter are. Neither has said a word about it.

Because instead of straight Action scenes, we get pieced together stills. It gives the illusion of movement while stationary and static.
