Ever wondered why chasing happiness can often lead to disappointment? Join me on a reflective journey through the enchanting Tiong Bahru neighborhood in Singapore, where I uncovered a profound truth about the pursuit of happiness.
Drawing from the wisdom of this unique Singaporean enclave and insights from Rudá Iandê's "Out of the Box" online course, I challenge the common myths about happiness. Learn why true contentment lies in slowing down, focusing on personal growth, and staying true to oneself!

I remembered growing up in Taiwan, people are so close and connected, always giving each other when meeting, always being friends when you decided to, it was night and day when I moved to USA, where people are completely alienated, competing for goods, chasing material existence and cold towards each other. Boy I missed the way of the past community based living

Correct. I visited America and the people are cold, mannerless and uncourteous

I believe that happiness is acceptance, contentment and purpose. I had postnatal depression for a long time and when I was getting well I would become terrified if I had a bad day because I didn't want to go back to that dark place. However once I accepted that it was just a bad day and it was normal and natural to have a bad day I felt much better knowing it's OK to have a bad day or even a week!

Thank you for making this video. You may not know the impact this video had on me after seeing it. I have asked myself severlly: what actually makes me happy, and I feel like I am alone in that order. Treasure your new awareness, and please make journals of your journey as it unfolds . God bless you 🙏

I just found your channel and I'm interested in your quest. I think it appeals to all of us. However, I'm old and more than a bit jaded and cautious. I remember a quote I came across long ago that I wish I had paid more attention to. "Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you." - Nathaniel Hawthorne Good luck to you and all of us.

Actually, in our existence, we strive not for a happy life. Instead, we strive for a more meaningful life. The reality is that we could live a thousand years over our lifetime, and yet we still couldn't get to enjoy the things we have.

@@marccano5061 Has it gotten worse? I remember an old psychologist saying that decades ago it was typical for people in California to have to be happy all the time whereas on the East coast people would admit they weren't happy.

It’s the attitude of sharing and harmonious coexistence that’s lacking when people are migrating for money to far away places for materialism

Personal growth extremely important. But you can get addicted to it and forget that the real work on oneself is through relationships. So singlehood will afford you contentment but will never substitute the riches relationships bring, however enraging.

Justin, I can really identify with your video. I've been living in Austin, Texas for the past 18 years, and if you know anything about this place it's been ruined by the onslaught of the tech industry, and non stop construction of condos. It was ok when I arrived here, but around 2005 the town lost it's mind. The construction of more huge roads , tech, and all the pimps that come along with it,,,it's one reason I may be moving to Mexico.

Many people are moving to Mexico these days. I'm sure Austin used to be an amazing place until the tech industry moved in. Like how San Francisco was probably wonderful decades ago.

In the modern world you compare yourself constantly to others. 1-2 generations back and "happiness" was measured from a very different angle. As an adult you won't feel a similar level of happiness like when you were a kid. The key is to accept yourself 100% and embrace every moment. You are already perfect, and nothing you achieve, can make you less/more valuable ❤
