Why Chengdu J-7 Copied from the Mig-21 still Valid for China?

The Chengdu J-7 has been the most capable fighter in the PLAAF since the late 1960s, and to this day it has not been decommissioned.
The People's Liberation Army (PLAAF) Air Force recently delivered the first batch of J-7G fighters to a special squadron for training purposes. The Xi'an Flight Academy has taken over these aircraft to replace older J-7B fighters, for training.

Random Fact: The USAF actually acquired a batch of brand new J-7s back in the 1980s to be used as "Aggressor" aircraft and were bought to replace a number of older Soviet MiG-21s they acquired over the years.

The Chinese will probably use the F7 G as an armed drone in the near future.... simple and yet very effective, especially in battlefield recon and ground attack in a low tech battle space.

It's actually not a copy of mig21 a normal mig21 and j7e has less than 20% of the same parts so j7e is like a completely different jet on the inside and trust me j7e is better than any other mig21 in maneuverability. It's like ,when the Chinese makes a new aircraft they copy like 1 or 2 aircraft take the advantages from them and try to remove the disadvantages overall its kinda like a benefit for them ig not sure about their modern jets tho.

And JF-17/FC-1 going to replace this in the near future.. At least that was the plan back in 2004.. . But given there are designs fault and flaws with JF-17, perhaps that plan is currently put to shelves..

These fighters don't even stand a chance against the F-5E Tiger. Just imagine, many countries already retired and mothball the F-5E. For crying out loud, these J7 series should deserve a place in the museum.

Trust me it's better than f5e at slow speeds. And has a wayy better top speed u should nkt be comparing f5e and j7e . A more suitable comparison would be F-20 vs j7e then the f-20 would beat the j7e and even early f16s.

Have the j7g answered the long time problem of mig 21? As have always been internal engine of mig 21 tends to explode erratically whenever it reached the maximum altitude. That is why both mig 21 and earlier versions of j7 was known as "flying coffins"
