Why Chien Pao is BANNED in Pokémon Draft League

cool idea for a series. So for reference that 75% def from sword of ruin makes its attack stat equivalent to (120/0.75) 160. We're talking Palafin/Slacking levels (I know it varies slightly as its the defensive reduction and not a straight offensive boost)., with 135 speed...

it's actually higher. Chien pao has base 120 attack but if you take off sword of ruin in calcs and adjust the base attack to 175, thats when the calc matches to the normal pao. It's so broken

It’s a little higher because the 0.75 thing also applies to the Evs and nature, so there’s an even higher boost, making pao even more dangerous.

@@pokeinator7834spectrier is usually a coin toss from what I’ve seen, bloodmoon hasn’t been banned in anything I’ve seen, but is a menace with tera. Pao still clears both of these, generally speaking. Personally, I wouldn’t ever allow zama crowned outside of an Ubers format, but I also haven’t seen too much of it.

To be honest, I don’t think Pao is the majority problem. It’s mostly that people don’t draft pokemon that can deal with Pao. Half the games, pao just sits in the back and never has to lift a finger or people prep overly to much just for Pao and just get run over by the rest of Pao’s team. Just my opinion. I personally never had any problems vs this sabertooth tiger

@@OGalbina Low point defensive mons like My son Crocolar can wall it even without teraing, I know Coalossal in general is very good into pao, evolited Charjabug can also just wall/threaten it back also. BONKELDURR(conkeldurr) is very good into pao. Just a couple examples (I love me some lower tiered/evolite pokemon because people never respect them)

@@OGalbina Coalossal doesn't die to a crunch into a Sacred even with a defensive drop The reason Why conkel is so good into pao is because psychic fangs wont one shot it and this would never even hit because all conkel has to do is mach punch in general its the same as how conkel checks weavile tbh Both those evolite users are amazing value I have surprised so many people with both of them and even if they are weak to rocks, people can't either keep rocks on the field or even if they take 25% coming in Pao doesn't do enough damage to even break them before croc heals with slack off Every scenario is different yes. this season in the two leagues Ive been running chien-pao in one league wasn't doing anything and ended 5-7, while in the other league the coach used pao elegantly and it was his whole team that was putting in the work because people were overpreping for just pao. That pao ended the regular season 16-0
