As someone living in China, here is my anecdotal observations. In China, of course they have a huge population, but they also have great badminton infrastructure even in semi rural areas, really fully equipped places with everything you need at a high quality. Then is also a lot of places to play. I'm from a non-asian country and in my home country, I would need to travel a half hour to get to the nearest badminton place. Where I am now, I have 3 choices within 10 minutes of my apartment. And they also have really convenient means of finding places and people to play, there are easy to use apps for it. So, the opportunity to play good players at good locations is really common here. Then there are the female players, I can't comment about other Asian countries, but compared to my home country, the women here are more keen on playing in general and playing high level games as well.

Such a huge country. They simply have enough top talent to put into mixed and women's doubles categories which are less popular elsewhere.
@AndrewLi101411 күн бұрын
Not only the top talent, but the resources to cultivate said talent. India won 0 gold medals at the Olympics this year despite having a larger population than China, and that's just because not as much effort is put in to turn that talent into winners. China invests a lot of money and time into ensuring their athletes perform at the top level.

I don't see this can be applied to soccer/basketball/hotkey...........etc.....

@@lamwindwinner9119 The sport also needs to be popular. That's a given. Just like America isn't good at cricket.

I half agree with your assessment but i think this yr having that many pairs at the top for china is a one off case so the speak. as you know japan and korea are having a make over with their top pairings so thats why they are missing right now from the top of the ranking list. I also think you generalize it a little too much. The only thing i see that is separating the top pair especially Zheng and Huang is their speed. If you watch the way they dominated up to the Olympics i saw that they won in most cases by out pacing their opponents and its sort of a new approach in my opinion. They put so much pressure on their opponents by taking away time so they cant react fast enough and so they can maintain their attack. Also their defense is definitely the best there is in the game right now. its sad to see them going their separate ways after the final tournament happening right now

As China has a lot of badminton courts, they should also play pickle-ball using badminton courts. Why? because i know China can be dominant in pickleball too :)

Can’t say Zheng/Yaqiong in still no.3 as they’re not together anymore and Zheng is retired. Also it’s crazy how China could replace dominant world class players in XD (jiang/wei, feng/hunag) and WD (Liu/tan) categories. Indonesia and Malaysia lately been doing that in MD category.
