No we appreciate Malayalam, Telugu, kanada and all language good movies. Some are just trying to say the Tamil audience is expecting only masala movies whereas even the small budget good movies do not get appreciation. Even if the manjumal boys was a Tamil movie instead of Malayalam movie then tamil audience may not appreciate it as they didn't appreciate previous low budget good movies until it was released on OTT. Apart from that I personally love mohan lal, mamooty and a few other actor movies. Even with the help of Mr. The Tamilan channel I got to know there are gems of movies in the Malayalam industry. The last time I had a good theatre experience was in Vikram that too especially in the interval scene because to be honest theatre experience is not only when all the audience scream for an actor but for the actual story like jailer . But to be honest the theatre experience is even better when you are also enjoying so much for the scene itself and not because others are screaming .

The cinematography and set work revolving the guna cave kept the Audience engaged along with the tight screenplay. The song placement was cheery on the top, giving tribute to guna movie. Overall it was a good theater experience for me. I don't care about people over hyping this movie or degrading other movies, the movie just simply worked for me 🤷🏽‍♂️👍🏽

The only reason why tamil cinema is not at the peak is bcoz most big directors except Kamal Hassan didn't take risks to make big films in the 2000's and in the 2010's. KH put his max effort to successfully complete Marudhanayagam but took risk without proper planning! If Mani Ratnam, Kamal Hassan, Selvaraghavan joined hands to make Ponniyin Selvan in the 2010 instead of Raavanan with proper planning with very big budget and released it worldwide(I COULD BE WRONG), I think maybe Tamil Cinema Industry would have reached great heights.😢😢😢

Actually Tamil cinema have been a melting pot of diversity, music innovation, acting and direction. While the rest of the other states had their own way of filming ( kerla- realism, Hindi, kaanda & telungu - glamour, and more ruled by families of movie business) Tamil cinema just welcomed anyone who had talent and became a springboard of innovative stories. This is a cinema that brought in MK Bagavathar, Sivaji, MGR, Kamal, Rajini, Surya, Vijay, Ajith. Can you tell which cinema industry of other states have produced these talents? Of course they have their own talents who never fail to appear in Tamil films and all states have always respected and admired the talent From Tamil cinema industry. The whole problem started when we stopped giving importance to writers and instead banked on directors. It’s true directors are important like , Sridar, Barathiraja, Balachandar, Balumahendra, Shankar, Mani Rathnam, Vetrimaran, Thiyagarajan Kumararaja, Cheran and so on. They both influenced innovation in cinema but also brought forth social justice to cinema. Tamil cinema is a mixture of talent, comedy, drama, realism, glamour, technical brilliance etc. it’s like you never find Tamil movies boring. It’s only when directors who loose their vision once their gotten a hit. A good example is Leo director, when he came to film industry he did a marvellous job making a simple movie with new cast members (Managaram) & decent action film (Kaithi). After that, what happened he just went behind top stars forgot his roots and now doing movies as a hero with a big star’s daughter (yeppadi urupudum)? Tell me. So when young directors who have the talent come to the Tamil cinema industry and got stardom they loose their purpose and doing things which will soon loose their talent. So when directors starts to think they are bigger than who they really are, ego goes over the top. Then the rot starts. As for the other states, Kerla, telungu and Kannada directors grew up seeing Tamil movies as their examples. Now you see all these movies from the three states, don’t they resemble pretty much the same storyline like Tamil movies which we used to take 20 years ago (e,g father angry with son not going to work, drinking together, the bromance, mother not happy with the son joining gangs, comedy filled storylines which never seen in Malayalam movies are now a norm. I used to watch Malayalam movies which more showing old Kerala (nalukettu) houses, men patriarchy over women. Very dim lit cinematography extremely slow moving acting. You need alot of patience to watch but they have social message. I could watch one or two but the same social message in Tamil movie ( Vedam Puthithu by Barathiraja) Pattaya kelapichu! How come? In Kerla film industry older Malayalam writers of those social drama movies have either died or lived on. I believe most of these writer were brilliant authors of books on social reform. The newer writers now after all that social reform has completed want to follow never ideas just like the Tamil movie storylines scripts, more youthful mixture of humour, drama and action. Howcome vijay, Surya are popular in Kerla, Telungana or Kannada, especially with younger audience? Because these young audience grew up seeing these actor, they can connect with the Tamil storylines. There are times no doubt the Tamil movies were sometimes over the top and unrealistic but they had grounded stories, balanced especially old Vijay movies which really pulled the younger audience. Remember famous malayalam directors like Priyadarshan , Fazil casted Vijay in their movies. They understood the Tamil actors talent if they were casted in good stories. So isn’t this the success of Tamil Cinema industry? Why was the native cinema industry of those states couldn’t pull these storylines? Because they didn’t hit the taste of the younger audience. I’m not saying they didn’t have their own success, today they have loads of supply of talented artists but interms of mass audience Tamil cinema always wins. Tamil cinema never hesitated to cast actors/ actresses from other states. It’s because we are open to talent. Did we see this in Malayalam movies in the 80? No why suddenly now all the movies from nearby states looks so similar to older Tamil movie storylines. Movies like 96, Tamiz or directors such as Cheran, Ram films and other similar movies of friendships,fatherhood all have been done and dusted in Tamil cinema. The young directors and writers from other states have watched these tamil movies and want to bring the similar storylines to their own audience, because they are just enjoyable to watch. So Tamil cinema has always been a forerunner of good film making and if only we start giving opportunities to Tamil writers who can do their job in making better plots, character arcs, climax are left to do their writing properly while directors just do their cinematic direction with their brilliant technical crew: Tamil cinema can bring a lot of innovation to the table with entertainment. Until then we all be looking for our old Tamil nostalgic films lookalike from other states just daydreaming how good we were once in filmmaking. I welcome more good films from other states to be shown in TN we should welcome any good talent with open arms but at the same time learn and go to greater heights in Tamil filmmaking. We all can learn from each other.

Tamil is like a second language to a significant number of Malayalis because of the movies. There are many people in Kerala who has never ever set foot in Tamilnadu or spoken to a Tamil person and still can speak fluent Tamil or atleast understand it well, but not read or write it, because they've learned it by watching so many Tamil movies. Tamil movies get the same love as malayalam movies in Kerala.
