I lived 3-4 years in Paris and 8-9 years in London. As someone who actually has the experience, both are dirty AF. Paris is definitely worse and THE SMELLS! Omg it's horrible. Both are amongst some of the most expensive cities to live in, in the entire world! Paris really surprised me as the French LOVE to act like they're superior and Paris is the city of love and whatever. It's the city of rats, crime, pretentious, nasty and racist people and overall NOT what they sell you. I'm sorry for everyone I'm offending but this was my experience as someone who also lived in Miami, Fort Lauderdale (Florida), Cali (Colombia), Valencia (Spain) and now Brighton (UK). I'm really sorry but France had so many racist white people I had to deal with on the street, in school and around my area. London didn't. But London has more crime. But at least the people were nicer here as a Hispanic man. France? Not somewhere I ever want to return to live. Maybe visit the south of France. Been there before and liked it. But as a visitor. A tourist. Living in France is different. Visiting vs living ANYWHERE in the world is different.

Paris is one of my favourite European cities for several reasons - the museums are incredible, the food and patisseries' are insanely delicious, my experience with the people was really positive overall and their cathedrals and historic buildings are beautiful. i think this is inevitable for cities like paris or new york. because popular culture, media and Hollywood used and praised these cities so much that they became some symbols in people's head. for example, paris the city of love. so its certain that people will have disappointments when they see insufficient sanitation services, sky high prices, insufferable traffic etc.
