Cowboy Bebop is the greatest. Please Hollywood, keep your hands out of it.

Quentin Tarentino is probably the only person I could imagine directing such a movie; besides Shinchiro Watanabe
@fiilisboa8 жыл бұрын
Christian James Michelsen Sion Sono, Takashi Miike, Robert Rodriguez or even Cohen Bros would be better.
@IgnorancEnArrogance8 жыл бұрын
Haven't heard of all of those directors. Cohen Bros would be a good choice because they always know how good dialogue works, but Robert Rodriguez, despite having a good attention to style, would ultimately give a muddling effort IMO. I say quentin because his movies always have had the whole package; hell maybe even James Cameron could do something with it, they would give him the budget to do it right too.
@fiilisboa8 жыл бұрын
+Christian James Michelsen nooooo, James Cameron no. I agree he would have a huge budget, but Nolan would have the same budget, but would make a better work. although I don't think any of those two would capture the essence of the anime. Robert Rodriguez and Takashi Miike are not the best choices, but I think they would capture the essence of cowboy bebop and make a respectful work without falling in the fanboy realm. if you haven't heard about sion sono is because he's a genius of underground Japanese cinema, go check his works, it's really worth it.

I can't think of a full cast that is as deep and mature as this one. So many anime are either over the top sappy, or try to be too thought provoking. This had a perfect balance of humor and drama. For me, nothing else in TV perfects the collision of emotions and characters as this one. It is also super refreshing to see a more mature romance than all of the over the top high school romance animes, where the whole cast breaks down into tears like every episode. ugh.

I think the greatest achievement with cowboy bebop was the fact that they explained the back story of characters by using present events that are actually entertaining rather than soppy flash backs and how you can never tell where the character is headed next constantly keeping you guessing what will happen next. they reveal so little about the nain character and yet on the last episode everyone can still relate to the decision he makes because they look reveal things In a way that make the characters believable.

funnyboyi i know but I'm more of a fan of serialized shows and there were a bit too many stand alone episodes for my taste even though they were great
@funnyboyi9 жыл бұрын
they werent stand alone, the whole point of the show is that these bounty hunters have a past and that past has a way to catch up to them, which is why there were episodes tht focused on spike, faye, and jet
@IgnorancEnArrogance8 жыл бұрын
I agree. There were a handful of filler episodes in the series. They weren't necessarily bad, but they could have actually condensed certain parts of the plot so we could see Vicious and Spike grow more as characters concerning their past and the better the overall pace of the series. Amazing how they still pack so much into 22 minutes. Gateway Shuffle is my least favorite episode, but still being amazing among regular anime standards.

I love all the people complaining about how the only good episodes were about Spike and Vicious' past and how they should have gone more in depth. The thing they don't realise is that if they had have gone more in depth and cut out those little misadventures it ruins the point of the show. The story of the show is something that it doesn't straight point out to you. When you take a minute and think of it all as one movie rather than a show then it creates a beautiful story about confronting the past you'd prefer to remain hidden

Cowboy Bepop is my favorite overall series of all time. I have many other personal favorites but CB is the only show I can watch at any given time. I go through all the episodes on DVD about every 6 months because I'm always having friends that get hooked on it! I have heard of Neon Genesis Evangelon being spoke in the same breadth as Cowboy Bepop, but I haven't seen it yet. I don't think anything will ever come close to this juggernaut.
@Primelight7 жыл бұрын
A few hidden gems like Legend of the Galactic Heroes and Monster surpass it. There aren't that many though tbh.
@IgnorancEnArrogance7 жыл бұрын
I will have to check those out, never heard of them. I recently finished Samurai Champloo, and while the story wasn't as good, the style and presentation was almost on par with CB. I had a lot of fun watching it.
@Primelight7 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the super late reply haha, I only just saw this. And yes I highly recommend those. Monster is easier to get into even if it's a slow burn, it gets veryy good - a psychological and philosophical thriller masterpiece. After watching LotGH, nothing will compare story-telling wise. Another one you could try is Ghost in the Shell (1995 film and then Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series).
