For me, CGI isn't an issue if they're using the medium for an artistic purpose. But sadly it's a cost saving measure and every time we see it we see another chance to do a 2d work thrown away for profit.

A profit driven model will always work against animation, but I find it amazing that creative and diverse works can come out of the model in spite of this. As consumers we also have to do our part in working with animators to make the conditions for them better and also to get great projects for the IP’s and characters we love.

I enjoyed both, but boy did I get "looks just like Tangled" vibes from Miraculous Ladybug. Anyway I think it'd be funny if CGI artists all went on strike and streaming services had to bring back Paranormal Park and Infinity Train due to the lack of animated content

But both Arcane and Spider Verse are a CGI: - Arcane 3D characters on top of 2D hand drown backgrounds, 2D FX and shadows paint on top of scene manually - SpiderVerse 3D and 2D extra effects and lines added on top of it

Yes, but she's arguing for its unique style of CGI, not its use of CGI itself. The 2 don't use the same style of CGI as 99% of every other CGI film/show out there, which is the sin in current form CGI: how every CGI show looks and feels the same in their style. No offense, unless you take full offense, but did you even listen to the points she made or just mindlessly watched the video?

similar problems here as there are with gaming. "make it cheap, make it fast, bring those profits and screw the artists!" is very prevalent and I agree with your assumed sentiment "most of us want better content even if it takes longer"

I've been watching your channel for years under my daughters login. Your content is great! Its positive, it gets down into all kinds of quirky analysis. This is a channel where its okay to nerd out and just be a fan. But there is a lot of negativity out there. Its actually hard to even find a review, especially on animated projects, without first having to scroll through endless thumbnails of negativity disguised as media review and critique. I found another channel that's also tired of all that negativity. All those sites that are so obsessed that's nothing is "sleepy" enough. And their mission is making safe, more positive spaces where a nerd can be a nerd, a fan can be a fan, and nobody is obssessed about whether you are sufficiently "sleepy" or not. As a fan I would love to see some of your content on this. Your reviews, theories, fashion shows, Himbo appreciation, is always fun, interesting, and completely original. Here's a video you may find interesting. Its part of a project called The Fandom Initiative. Https://kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHm0molrm7KNbLs

IT seems like all the good CGI is either being funneled into the games industry (Genshin, World of Warcraft cutscenes, ect.) or is being taken to France where the labor rules are HEAVILY in favor of the workers. Who would have guessed that when people are paid better the end result is a better product? Heck. Even Miraculous Ladybug, for all of its flaws, has its own CG style. Studio Orange in Japan does great CG work as well.

I really miss there being more traditionally animated content. One because of the uniqueness of traditional animation, but also because, let's be honest, a lot of cgi is ugly. A lot of the time, people try to apply effects done for tradional animation cartoons onto cgi, and it's ugly. Making the mouth abnormally large when they get a fright in cgi is ugly, and this is only one instance. The show I always wished was in traditional animation was ladybug. The overuse of cgi has not only removed some of the beauty in the characters but also the backgrounds. Like you said the backgrounds with cgi tend to look the same, but in a lot of instances this also takes away from the beauty of a lot of the backgrounds. Kung fu panda does it well where there will still be magnificent back drops, but when I compare the backdrops in the original little mermaid to some of the newer animation it's really sad. The fact that my friend and I rewatched the little mermaid purely because he had never seen it and had heard how great the animation was tells you something. Cgi can be great when used, but in most movies and shows it's taking from the experience, not adding to it

The thing with CGI is, it requires a lot of prep work. 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, etc, etc, etc is a time consuming process. However, unlike hand drawn 2D animation, once the bulk of the prep work has been done, you can just keep reusing the models, rigs and textures you already made. And posing a model and interpolating the frames in between is a lot faster than drawing every single frame by hand, and thus also cheaper. I think Jimmy Neutron is a pretty good example of this. Because while that show still looked kinda bad, the reason they were able to makea CG show like it in the first place back when generally that technology was still fairly exspensive was because they started with a movie. And once that movie was made, they already had all the assets lying around, much of which they could then reuse for the tv show.

Luckily strawberry shortcake: berry in the big city isn't CGI and care Bears: unlock the magic isn't either so at least some shows aren't all chi
