Any band together for so long, and through so much, is gonna have issues. I think Murdoc is dealing with a midlife crisis, and 2D is more in his 'prime' as well as all Murdocs talk about it being his band (while 2-D stays the figure head of Gorillaz) So I think he beats him up and give him shit since murdoc is kinda jelly of Stu's position. Maybe that's just me though

Murdoc has always been jealous of 2d because 2d had what murdoc could never achieve; good looks, a normal upbringing, popularity, musical talent, etc. and he takes his frustration out on 2d to make him feel like the bigger person. In the earlier phases, 2d idolized murdoc because he thought he saved his life and for the fact that he made him famous, but as time went on their relationship was strained and it only got worse on Plastic Beach. But in phase 4 they seemed to have patched things up, they act much more friendly and seem to be on relatively good terms. Murdoc’s also grown a lot since then, but now I’m not so sure with phase 5. I guess I’ll have to wait and see.

I hate the Murdoc/2D ship so much. Murdoc is constantly abusive towards 2D. I've heard the argument about "he's nice to him sometimes" - so are real life abusive partners. It's just not a ship I can follow. That being said, the video itself (in terms of editing, song choice, clips used etc) is great. You're obviously good at this kind of thing! ☺

Murdoc and 2d have such an interesting dynamic and history but there’s little to no evidence that they’ve hooked up or have feelings for one another. That’s just fanon like murdoc tried to strangle 2d but ok,, IA though, i try to stay quiet about my opinions on ships bc I just let ppl do their thing. But I hate all of them so much thank you though! I absolutely love murdoc and 2d as friends though :/

I rembere the begging phases where there was no abusive shit going on, past playfull every friend banter. I personally think the ship can be kinda cute when its the earlier phases. But overal i just think there really good friends, Murdoc looks on 2d as some sort of nephew in his own fucked up way. By his own addmission hes 'practising tough love'. Which when you think about Murdocs past, e.i his dad you can really understand why he thinks love comes from abuse. Wether people want to ship it or not i just wish more people can rembere the real friendship they hold at the core and beneath all the 'Murdoc abusive' crap.

I’ve seen people say they’ve might’ve hooked up back in phase 1 bc the two went to Jamaica together, alone, and drank heavily and since around that time 2d idolized murdoc and murdoc thought 2d was attractive they could’ve hooked up but tbh I don’t think that’s enough evidence for me. It’s set up, sure, but it’s all just fanon. Jamie said in an interview a long time ago that the reason why 2d idolized him was because he thought he saved his life, not bc he liked him in that way, he’s always made it clear that their relationship is brotherly and platonic. I think it’s ridiculous for fans to say that they both only hate each other and that there aren’t any positive feelings towards one another. No, they’re friends but they’re broken characters with a long history of trauma and abuse, it gets complicated.
