I pray modern Star Wars never ever touches Kreia or Revan. Disney doesn’t have the talent or intelligence to properly portray these magnificent characters. Kreia said herself in KOTOR 2 “If you were to test your skill against a master from the ancient times, you would see we are like children now playing with toys”

There was more to Meetra being exiled than just joining Revan in the war and activating the mass accelerator. When she returned to face the music, they privately discussed how while she was standing before them, they did not feel her presence. They felt an absence that they did not understand at the time, and therefore were very concerned. Also, Nihilus in a way stopped having a goal. He was driven only by his hunger for the Force. Once all the Jedi was gone, he would on moved on to every Sith, and then everything else. He had no real desire to destroy the galaxy. He was simply trying to satiate his un-ending hunger. And yes, Kreia/Traya contradicts herself by using the very thing she hates, but it's in a sort of "means to an end" sort of deal, very much like Senator Armstrong in Metal Gear Rising. I think Kreia had a very valid point, however, conflict would happen whether the Force exists or not. So killing the Force in order to end conflict is not going to work even if she succeeded. But she would have at least made sure that every living being could govern themselves and not have some mystical force predetermine everything for them.

The Force is a pervasive, transcendental power operating within a single galaxy, fully controlling the course of wars, suffering, and most importantly, governing the will of those who are more attuned to it. As I read the comments, I am continuously amazed by the significant misunderstanding of the game's main idea. Guys, have you ever read/watched/listened to anything about Warhammer? How does their etheric space differ from the Force? It seems quite obvious to me that the struggle for one's own will in a world dominated by "something beyond that gives you powers if you listen to it" is a good thing. Moreover, manipulating those who give up on their life as long as they receive freedom -- is not as bad as converting an entire galaxy into a toy.

Wrong. Just like she said, if you believe in something you must be willing to betray it. Mitra WAS the key to the destruction of the force, not in some grand mystical way. But very literal, removing the three Jedi Masters, the others in the Triumvirate and herself. As well as the ending of the powerful dark side nexus of Malachor V. Also she sent Revan and Mitra out to fight and stop the Sith Empire out there in the dark. She WANTED the force to die, or rather she wanted to destroy and cut the cord of knowledge being passed down. Resetting it all over again, which is what happens every time. She wanted to kill the force and if she chose to kill Mitra at the end, it really would've ended the Jedi Order entirely. She didn't though, she let her live and do all the things that needed to be done. She perpetuated the echo by allowing the Jedi to continue, but the Sith are still out there. So there IS balance now. She wanted the abolition of the force, she settled for a great reset and re-establishment of the status-quo of balance. If Kreia's own gain was sacrificing herself for all that, then shit. Tell me again how emotionless and uncaring she was. It's proof that apparently cold people can care more than you do, you just can't see it. Some live in their emotions, are so controlled by it they really think their thoughts are their own. Pathetic.

It's been evident to many that the Force is a living entity. Yet, it only has complete control over some things. However, it can tip the odds towards the outcome in the long run. There is no light without the dark. So it is with the Force. It, too, can make mistakes and learn as time goes on. While trying to maintain proper balance. Ultimately, as she was dying, Traya was gifted by the Force to see and comprehend everything the Force planned for the future. She died having some understanding of why the Force acts as it does.

Kreia is the Master I was thinking of when pondering my idea for floating lightsaber techniques and designs. Which lead me to the most vicious design I could think of. Two hemispheres about the size of a thermal detonator when put together. Make them out of cortosis, separate them just a bit and inside place a spherical focusing lens around a crystal. When activated, the saber orb should be able to produce a disc from between the hemispheres. Tweak the length to desired radius. Making for small, weapons with impressive range, lightsaber cancellation, blaster deflection or absorption, can be used as a blunt instrument, or as a deadly disc shaped lightsaber.

Despite her madness and contradictions, I do believe Traya was definitely on to something concerning her views on the jedi, sith and the force. The force will always influence people and events according to it's will to achieve balance, that is a fact. Both light and dark can be equally blinding in excess and upset said balance, which is why when one reigns the force will ensure the rise of the other to even the scales. This often results in galaxy wide conflicts rife with casualties and collateral damage that can last for a lifetime if not more. Not saying this makes the force evil, more like amoral which sounds a lot like Traya herself not caring if their actions are right, wrong or contradictory as long as their goal is achieved then its worth it and like Traya such a being with that mindset and vast power sooner or later needs to be stopped or at the very least put in check

@@user-zj1qp5um7e She sought to kill or mute the force, which potentially could've wiped most life from the galaxy. That is insanity no matter how you spin it. As for her contradictions, although she hates the force, she continues to utilize it and in her quest to destroy it behaves just like it. Then, in the game, she'd often flip-flop on her respones on light and dark choices the exile makes.

@@thewanderingronin5433 From what you're asserting so confidently? I must note that you primarily demonstrate a misunderstanding of the plot. We've seen what happens to people cut off from force. The entire game is about this phenomenon. The Jedi on the council, when Kreia did it to them herself, did not die. They chose to cease to exist, but that was their own will. Their bodies were still alive. All their lives they relied on something that gave them power in exchange for the abdication of will -- the Force. At some point they've became hollow ambassadors of it's desires. Chris Avellone built his story based on a flaw in worldbuilding that he saw, which within his narrative, he fashioned into a form of a chthonic monster-an invisible power that leads people's wills against each other in an endless battle that has no meaning. There is no madness in her plan. She's a radical individualist. KOTOR 2 is the deepest ode to philosophy in game development history, and it saddens me to think that people have understood nothing from what was shown on the screen.
@user-zj1qp5um7e
@user-zj1qp5um7e Ай бұрын
Regarding the "flip-flop," all the responses literally resonated with how accurately you understand her point of view. As for her manipulations, the ends justify the means for her. There is no contradiction here. Moreover, she considered most people to be thoughtless pawns by default (and she was not mistaken). Those she found worthy, she was honest with to the extent possible, as we see in the example of the exile and her apprentice, if we play as a woman.
@venkelos6996

Honestly, when not thinking of her as the Companion character in KOTOR 2, Kreia is one of my favorite elements of that game. She's been a Jedi and a Sith. She had seen the hypocrisy of both, and called both out for it. She's certainly flawed, hating the Force even as she continues to call upon it, but I like her "middle ground" view. It van get annoying when everyone just "loves" the Light, like the only bad thing it ever does is deny some people the privilege of using it, while decrying the Dark as "wrong", as if it shouldn't even exist, but never really explaining how, when balance is intended, the Light IS supposed to be balanced by something. The attribute a will, and sentience, to this energy field, and then babble about how it actively doesn't like hiw some use it, but being rather particular on whom, and again feeling rather one-sided, despite the Dark existing. Kreia is wrong, as the Vong prove, since they are the same Legends verse, and the Vong, after Zonama Sekot cut them off knew only suffering. They lived, but woyld anyone want to live that way? Still, I like how she is willing to look at the Force as partly responsible for everything. If it has a will, and chooses who can use it, then it is responsible, at least in part, for their actions, as it isn't just a mindless...Force, to be called upon by saints, and monsters. And if the Jedi and Sith were always going to quarrel, there would never be peace, so maybe it had to be taken away? Again, she's wrong, but I like that someone was willing to at least thought exercise it, and it was someone who knew the power, instead of some jealous fool who regretted THEY hadn't been chosen.

But we actually did?... The event that created a wound in the Force, malachor 5. Few survived physically, and the calamity was so intense that they had to endure it in a transcendental sense. As a result, Darth Sion, Darth Nihilus, and the Exile emerged (actually more, but..). Each of them represents a response to that dilemma. However, only the Exile chose the path of his own free will. He became the antithesis of the Force. To destroy the force she created knowledge about this flaw. About the way to free yourself from eternal conflict.

An idea I've had about where Star Wars was heading would have been the following: The force itself, tired of being forced into either a dark side or a light side rebelled against both the jedi and the Sith. At first it tried with Anakin, but that didn't work so it changed its plans. It sent a literal avatar of the force to defeat both the jedi and the Sith in their entireties. Of course both the Sith and the jedi would have to team up to address this threat. But by the end of the story this force avatar would be defeated and to the horror of both the jedi and the Sith it essentially kills the force. Not entirely as things are still able to survive, but the force is too weak for anyone to utilize it for force powers anymore. Such was the amount of the force within this avatar. Ever since the Knights Of The Old Republic games I've felt that something like this would have been a natural conclusion.

I think Darth Traya was mostly crazy and she taking her madness out on both the galaxy and the Force instead of taking reasonability for her actions. Though she was right about one thing it would be a good idea for a Jedi to cut themselves off from the Force a brief proid of time then slowly rebuild their contain to it that way the lure of darkside would at the last have a much weaker hold over the Jedi at most maybe not even any effect the last might be going a bit too far for even my more open yet grounded in reality mind.

If Kreia represents contradiction, it is because the Force itself is innately contradictory. It is an expression of all life in the galaxy, that from which all life springs and all ultimately returns, yet it allows itself to be corrupted and debased by the darkness of its own creations. This ultimately means that the Dark Side is not truly a corruption of the Force but an expression of it -- the Force seeks balance, but creates life which unbalances it, so it can equally be said that the Force seeks imbalance as well. Contradiction is the crux of human nature. Even when we cling to an ideal or a virtue with all our might, we still struggle with holding onto it. Contradiction, however, is not without its benefits -- it is by contradicting our limitations that we grow, by contradicting the limits of our understanding that we gain insight, by contradicting the limits of natural order that we invent. We fight wars to win peace, sell our lives to gain livelihoods, and strive to make impossible things possible. Kreia recognized the inherent contradictions in the Force itself and sought freedom from it, perhaps in hopes that once free of its contradictions a new path forward could be found that was free of contradiction, but I think on some level she also realized that contradiction is woven into the fabric of our very beings. Both the Jedi and Sith seek freedom, one through serenity and the other through power -- Kreia simply realized that rigid adherence to any one principle, ideal, or pursuit was antithetical to freedom, and that the rejection of both paths was necessary in order to truly become free. To live free, she had to cut herself off from that which defined and therefore limited her life -- the Force. However, she was practical enough to understand that making oneself powerless was not the answer, as it would just make her a slave to circumstance and the whims of others. To be free and powerful at the same time... that was Kreia's contradiction. She clearly grappled with it and didn't have all the answers, but those unwilling to face and acknowledge their own contradictions will truly be at the mercy of them.

Personally, I don’t think Traya is evil, she’s conflicted. While Yes, the force in a way can be evil, it has no control over who lives and who dies. It maintains balance and who gets caught up in it depends on how balance the Jedi and Sith are.

Kreia was subtly insane, and the fact that she was THE critique of The Force? Beautiful! She made so much sense that she fundamentally altered the beliefs of most of the players who... *experienced* KOTOR 2. The Force is nature, The Jedi are the guardians of nature's natural alignment, non-malevolence. The Sith are the disruption, they openly embrace the malevolent potential of The Force, call it The Dark Side, and use it as selfishly as possible. The only real weakness of The Jedi Order is their willing blindness to their dogma.

I think Kreia was correct in the idea that the force has a “will” but mistaken that it is the cause of conflict. The force only wishes to be in balance and so it “tips the scales” towards balance on occasion. The cause of conflicts are the factions that use only side of the force and push the force out of balance. I believe that Grand Master Luke understood this and (to my recollection) would encourage his trainees to use emotions and slightly tap into the dark side.

I wouldn't say it makes the force evil, the force is an assortment of concepts. I do think Traya's perspective makes sense given what the force is, although as you say destroying it probably isn't possible nor would it likely fix Traya's issue. I don't know if madness is a correct assessment of Trayas beliefs, though perhaps her enforcement of her beliefs didn't really line up with them either. I think if she had a more solid direction her beliefs could be useful in creating a more peaceful galaxy.

Revan hasn't turned to the dark side yet, during the destruction of the Malachor, so Kreya opening herself to the dark side for the first time at this very moment wasn't because of the council blaming her for Darth Revan

See, this is what grinds my gears about the early Jedi; why banish a master for training someone who ended up turning to the dark side? That is like punishing a Mother for the sins of their child. Those early dogmatic systems created more strife than order

Traya rejects she’s a sith, but struggling against the reality because of arrogant feelings and accepting the distructive concequences of it is a very sith-like state of mind. Even if she thought she struggled against the Force itself, she did it in an absolute sith way that George Lucas is talking about.

The will of the force as depicted in canon is an entirely neutral existence. It simply seeks to maintain eternal balance in all things. So in a sense, yes you could interpret that as evil. It's removed from any such concept though.

The intentions behind her goal might be noble, but the outcome of killing the force would have amounted to a magnitude of evil even The Sith would never do. The force touches everything the lives, every star, every asteroid, every sun, planet and space itself; rocks, air, water, plants, animals, sentient beings, nothing can live without the force in the galaxy, and if she'd killed it, I don't think even Kreia realizes just the unimaginable level of absolute death that would've brought about. She was only thinking in terms of sentient life, but in actuality she may well have pulled the plug on the whole goddam galaxy, possibly similar to just sucking it into a black hole; there would be nothing left. Now that's evil beyond evil. Still an awesome character though.

Crazy and insane? I don't know. At best, maybe? She was definitely scorned and bitter. Just like Ahsoka and Zayne Carrick in a way. The KOTOR order blamed Kreia for Revan's fall, never even considering the remote possibility that the Sith were still alive and out there. In regards to Zayne, they placed the blame on him, rather than admit that they were so focused on getting things set with the entire order and their place in the Republic that they had overlooked some important individuals. And in doing so, things slipped through the cracks unnoticed which came back to bite them. The Prequel order found Ahsoka guilty more out of not wanting their reputation within the Republic tarnished. There was plenty of evidence against Ahsoka - though all circumstantial. But there wasn't anything real concrete, nor any evidence of her innocence. Anakin was the only one who was on her side outright. From a clip on KZbin featuring a deleted scene from that episode, Yoda also felt that she was innocent, but knew there wasn't enough evidence to prove it. Only Anakin and Plo Koon apologized to her. Some praised her actions and conduct, but no one else were willing to admit they were wrong. They followed Mace's example, saying it was the will of the Force rather than admit to playing politics. Also on KZbin is a 4-part series detailing Anakin's and Obi-Wan's mission to Utapau during the Clone Wars, which took place before ROTS. At one point, Anakin mentioned Ahsoka, and their thoughts turned towards her leaving the order. And Obi-Wan seemingly placed the blame on her giving in to her emotions to decide to leave the order, rather than admit they were wrong. That changed during the Siege of Mandalore, but he still didn't admit that Ahsoka was in the right when she left the Jedi Order. That she had every right to feel the way she did, and choosing to act on those feelings by leaving the Order wasn't a wrong decision. Or rather, it was a decision that the Jedi had no right or place to condemn her for. All three thought the Jedi Order would be there for them, but were shown the harsh truth. All three probably had every right to act against the Jedi Order. But only Traya turned to the dark side and joined the Sith. Only to be betrayed by them. She knew exactly what the Sith were, and yet she was surprised that Darth Sion and Darth Nihilus betrayed her even when she should have known that betrayal was a part of the Sith. Traya had every right to hate the Jedi and the Sith. But hate the Force like how Dalien Brock from the Dawn of the Jedi novel Into the Void did? I don't know. Destroy the Force? I know that Nomi Sunrider severed Ulic Qel-Droma's connection to the Force permanently, and maybe Traya wanted to do something like that to all life on a galactic scale. Kind of like what happened to the Yuuzhan Vong. However, as Ulic died, his body vanished like Obi-Wan's and Yoda's did. So in one sense, Ulic wasn't completely severed from the Force. And Jacen Solo learned how to sense and to a degree communicate and manipulate Vongformed creatures. So the Yuuzhan Vongs weren't completely outside the Force. Did she want to destroy the Force? More than likely yes. Could it have been done? I don't think so. I also like to say that Baylan Skoll was another Jedi who was disillusioned by the Prequel Order. He wasn't banished, but he definitely came to resent the constant conflict between Jedi and Sith. Between the light and the dark. He's on a journey he believes will allow him to put an end to the conflict between the light and the dark. Did Traya ever consider this? I don't think so. Could she have considered this? Could she have done what Baylan Skoll is doing? Yeah I can see her trying to find something that could give her a clue to doing this. Would it have succeeded? To know the answer to that question, we need to see more of Baylan Skoll's journey, including how he wants it to end. Which means we need to wait for Season 2 of Ahsoka.

Kreia was a pathological narcissist and a Machiavelian individual whose bitterness and need for manipulation are a good study for young psychologists who also happen to be Star Wars fans. Her distorted view of the Force is to be understood through her insecurities and hatred. She despised the fact that there were beings and entities stronger than her, who could rule the galaxy and achieve power that she couldn't even dream of. Psychologically, she never really recovered from having her connection to the Force severed, yet parasitically enjoyed the exile's presence and the bond that they shared so she could get drunk on the powers regained. As one of the biggest hypocrites who was also left behind by every single student she ever had, and they never turned around to give her a second chance, which tells us a lot about her dramatic personality, she openly admits at one point in the game how she is aware that perhaps she has become spiteful towards the very thing that keeps her alive because she has become to dependent on it. This doesn't only mean that she can't stand the Force, but all those around her. She freaked out when Chodo Habat offered to cure the exile and help make her whole. Why? Because she knew that he was about to plant the seeds of hope and freedom into her new pawn who would also outgrow and abandon her. She was also frustrated with everyone on board and became jealous of their much healthier relationship with the exile. I never found her to be that great of a character. She's seductive and knowledgeable, but very insecure, envious, mean, selfish and vengeful. She also has that off-putting holier than thou attitude and desperately tries to belittle everyone who dares disagree with her. If anyone is to question her lunacy, she begins to scheme against them and ruin their reputation while conversing with the exile, making them seem smaller and less significant than they are. On multiple occasions she bragged about how she did everything because she was right - not because she felt it was right, but because she decided that it was, therefore it must be seen as such, or else! That's a toxic witch right there and honestly, overrated.

Kreia was definitely onto something if you ask me, just about every conflict in star Wars canon, and legend can be summed up with Jedi vs Sith, or Light vs Dark the only common denominator throughout these conflicts is ideology on how the force should be used, while she may of had no plan she at least understood that something wasn't right with the force which all things considered in legends material she definitely wasn't wrong.

The force seeks balance within itself? But then why even have life with various levels of connection to it? If the force truly wanted balance then there is no point to life as then it could have peace and balance. By granting some people power while others with weak connections to it don’t get any it already upsets the balance of life.

honestly, i think both Jedi and Sith use the force, but completely misunderstand it. the Force is not good, nor is it evil...it simply is. the thing is, Light is born from Darkness, and Darkness is born from Light, the two are forever intertwined, and they need each other. two sides of the same coin, as it were, the Light serves no purpose without Darkness, and vice versa...

Kreia was the true hero 🦸‍♀️. She saw the force using both sides against each other in endless wars over the years and realized the solution was to cut off the thing using them. The Jedi forbidding things that are natural like love like anakin said and the sith forbidding attachment also… only craving power. They were both wrong. There’s nothing wrong with what she did or wanted to do but I don’t understand why she ended up turning on her beliefs in the end and putting her faith in the exile. The Jedi and sith would stay the same since she did… she should have destroyed the force. She’s the embodiment of a real Jedi or grey Jedi. Most intellectual Jedi/sith yet. I wish sidious and yoda and others discussed her philosophies. They probably would of hated it lol 😂 just like how they felt about qui gonn jin
