I moved to DC a few months ago because I was single and DC was supposedly one of the best places for dating in the country. My experience has been awful here, like totally awful. I’m rarely getting any matches on dating apps, and when I do they rarely respond. If I actually get someone who’s willing go to go on a date, all I hear about is how busy they are and how they have so much to do for work and can’t go out until 2 or 3 weeks out. Then they “forget” about the date and need to reschedule. Or they just play endless games and say they want to go out even though they have no intention. Assuming I actually get a 1st date these girls don’t even like to drink and are extremely boring and only want to talk about their generic government jobs. I always get the “didn’t feel a connection text” meanwhile all these girls in DC are 5s and 6s. I should be the one rejecting them instead of the other way around I’m definitely a decent looking guy who works out everyday, dresses well, and has a great job. I’ve had so much success in every other place I’ve lived. I was killing in NYC and Miami, But for some reason online dating is awful in DC.

Nah you’re right it’s bad bad. Literally have convos with my bros in Chicago every weekend getting laid with no car and a warehouse job. I say the women in DC are boreline ugly and chubby or fat, or very skinny with just issues somewhere(bad teeth, ugly hair). It’s as if all the cities dumped their ugly girls here and they all got decent paying government jobs and now think they’re prizes. I’m like Jesus bro. It’s lowkey a nightmare here.

Online dating here is indeed just that bad. And in real life the bottom 95% of us guys get the "Sorry I have a boyfriend!" line if you get within five feet of them. In all my travels I've never seen a dating scene anywhere near this horrible.

DC (the entire DMV really) is literally known as "Hollywood for Ugly People." Way too many people in the DMV think they are attractive and successful. The truth is everyone in the DMV is average or below average looking (5s and below) and has a similar federal government position, works for an embassy, non profit, or is in college. This means they are the same and this isn't impressive. It doesn't matter... men, women, white, black, Latino, Asian, lgbt etc. It's the same average/below-average looking people with government jobs or jobs close to the government and believing they matter, have dating options, or they are Hollwyood movie stars. It is the most bizarre thing to watch. I'm in a relationship, but it's sad to watch DC and it has gone downhill. This is especially true since I lived in LA and NYC before and I've been around real 9s and 10s in terms of looks, careers, intellect, and success. Both men and women in DC are delusional and severly overinflate who they believe they are, which is why the dating scene there was always rough and people stay in the dating cycle, are constantly cheating, never getting married, or divorced. Just remember that the DMV has always been known as "Hollywood for Ugly People" and it will always be that way. Not sure why people aren't getting this or believe they somehow stand out from the rest.

Wow I thought it was just me I’m tired of living here too honestly. And the few 9s and 10s you come across don’t want to be bothered or are only willing to be involved with those at their level. Ppl truly think their “average” jobs or careers is top notch smh

Agreed. Dating in the DMV has been by far the worst out of any places I’ve lived in. So many 5s and 6s having completely unrealistic expectations. Women being cold and unapproachable. People unable to find a time to set up a date because of how “busy” they are. Endless flakiness, ghosting, and women playing games. People being extremely boring and only wanting to talk about their stupid government jobs. The only decent people I’ve met here have been people who’ve moved here recently from other states.

Imagine realizing too late this area is trash for finding serious relationship and you are itching to move, but now most of your family moved here. I do not like this area at all. It’s almost impossible to thrive in your femininity here (unless you are a man). The comment about ugly ppl, lol, I’m just like, what is even the feminine aesthetic out here? It just seems to be a shaved head and oversized glasses and acting like an aggressive male. I made a horrible decision moving here and am determined to leave, even with my folks. There are good parts MUCH further out, but overall, this area smothers the spark within people. No decent art, local musicians are hit or miss, FOOD IS HORRIBLE HERE (except in maybe Georgetown). I’m over it!!
