I will keep my diesel thanks, 700 miles range and five minutes to refill . It doesn’t mind cold weather, I can heat the cabin without a thought. Hills or headwinds don’t affect range by any meaningful amount. I can use air con in summer without watching the predicted range plummet. Battery cars are a bad joke.
@goaway3717Ай бұрын
1. I don't want a fire hazard in the garage or even next to the house outside. I can mitigate dangers from gasoline but not the random nature of when a battery is going to turn into a fire bomb. 2. Cost too much to repair. Battery replacement is far too expensive. 3. Value is no where near the cost in a bad way. 4. No matter what anyone says they are no real replacement in functionality to a gasoline vehicle. 1200 miles across 6 states in 18 hours with the current charge times and random availability of any speed of charging is impossible but casually easy with gasoline. 5. Too sensitive to temperature and in an area that regularly ranges from over 100 to under -25 they can't be relied on given range reduction in sub optimal temperatures. 6. If battery dies while in the vehicle many make you trapped and at 100 degrees outside or well below zero I'd rather not die due to the car I drive. 7. EVs are still a rich man's toy in my opinion and not ready for full adoption for everyone who currently owns a gasoline or diesel vehicle.

EVs are computers on wheels, not a good idea if you want wheels that are reliable. Computers break even when not jostling along a bumpy road, madness.

Where I am in Canada temp range is from minus 30C to plus 40C. Try heating or cooling with a battery,,,,good luck. Trouble is politicians have no electro-mechanical smarts at all. Unfortunately car companies are run by idiots too. Maybe a small simple EV for around town (golf cart 2.0) in nice weather but an electric pickup? Insane!!

EVs are now starting to arrive in South Africa. However long distance driving will still be the combustion engine task. Charging stations are far and few with electricity supply in short supply.

In the UK only one in ten EV owners are women. From what I hear of the situation in your neck of the woods I guess that figure will be one in a hundred. Who in their right mind would allow their wife or daughter to go anywhere in an EV? They are death traps even in safe places.

Those batteries may be MORE toxic than gasoline and when they DO ignite, they burn hot enough to melt titanium!😮😢

I have a hard time understanding why electric cars are more expensive than real cars.In principle, they are just a weather-protected PlayStation with four wheels and a drivetrain as advanced as a cordless drill.

They avoid them because they can’t sell them. People list used evs for peanuts and still can’t sell the. Who wants a 2nd hand Duracell?….

With a reasonable investment ICEV can last many decades. The opposite applies to BEV after less than a decade they turn into pumpkins the batteries wear out and replacement costs more than the vehicle is worth.

I’m all for ZEV - Zero Electric Vehicles. Moore’s Law states that the number of transistors on an IC doubles every 18 months. So what? That means your brand new all electric toy becomes a dinosaur in about 2 years. Enjoy them.

Forget all the other reasons for the failing EV sales, the all too real issue is the energy crisis and the rising cost of electricity. Rolling blackouts is just the beginning. With overpopulation and limited electric power supply and the high price of paying for electricity, EVs are an unnecessary drain on an already limited electric power grid.
@robertmanella528Ай бұрын
I wouldn't even want them on my sales lot,because of the fire chance!! Elon musk's new graphine aluminum batteries that don't burn will be a game changer!!!!I don't want to park next to any EV!!!!!

When Tesla replaces a battery they don’t even install a new battery they install a refurbished battery. So instead of the clock restarting it just gets moved back a bit.

All these concerns are valid, but the real deal-killer is the load on the electrical grid, no matter how well the cars are made the world just doesn't have the charging capacity for a 100% electric fleet. Before EV can become the standard we're going to need a ton of nuclear power, the only " green " option.
@danlemke6407Ай бұрын
Every one forgets that not only are parts hard to get, and expensive. There is not many places that will work on them, and even less mechanics that have experience. So, prepare to wait sometimes months to get your EV repaired. Now this is still the honeymoon period for EVS. After they become common place, do you not think charging prices will rise, and that there will be added road taxes, or maybe the town needs a new stadium, you will now be fair game for VAT taxes. So pay your money, take your chances. Most think they are doing this to save the planet, but do a lil research and you will find an EV is not carbon neutral or even close. The materials used in all the green things you think is helping the planet are very toxic and hard to produce. There is not yet much in the way of recycling, although that is bound to change. Don't have a garage or off road parking? This is not a beginners car. You must be well off to buy a new one, because they are not cheap, and most that do buy one have other vehicles.

I like to think these are teething problems which will resolve over time. ICE vehicles were developed over 100 years, they were probably not really feasible in the 1920s.
