One death many people don’t seem to talk about is Mistaké’s death. In my opinion, her death impacted the characters in the show better than most. She died to help Skyler getaway from the Sons of Garmadon.(Which definitely pushed Skyler to try as hard as she could to take over Garmadon’s power) She also helped Lloyd overcome his heartbreak from Harumi, the loss of the other ninja, and to even to go as far as to appreciate Nya even more. Mistaké is also the reason why Lloyd, Nya, Pixal, Misako, and Dareth survived the Sons of Garmadon finding them.( She was the one who brought the Elemental Masters together) All in all, Mistaké is a Very underrated character and her death deserves to be more appreciated.

I might need to see it again, but Mystake's death felt kinda weird when I saw it. Like how it was presented, she just pans away offscreen while the ninja slowly escape, with the enemies watching them. I think the impact could've benefited from being shown onscreen. Nothing too violent of course, maybe something like a shadowy oni-disintegration, or turning into stone. I dunno, but I thought they presented her death strangely on my first watch

I agree. Mystakè was someone who changed most of the plots. If she never died, then it would take a long time for the ninja to figure out she is part Oni and she escaped and it lessened the time for us to find out she was the one who destroyed the Oni titans. Now, her tea is scarce, and that added a lot to the plot of episodes like “The Kaiju Protocol” and others.

I was shocked when she didn't came back in s10. I really really liked her. She was like Wu to Resistance but less depressed and more engaged. Heck-! Just like you said, she gave up her own life so Skylor could escape and give Ninja chance of winning! Idea with her Oni origins also nicely fitted with plot and character (before s7 I was always confused how could she be an old lady when she was judging Anacondrai generals WITH YOUNG WU AND GARMADON). Nya’s “death” was very emotional and I cried when I saw this final. But bringing her back was just quick and unnecessary. 1. Nya doesn’t do much in this new season. 2. The drama is disappearing. 3. Her sacrifice is starting to be meaningless.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Garmadon's death and revival. If you ask me, his death impacted the Ninja more than anything. Lloyd in particular, especially from what we saw in Possessed. Lloyd was so lost after his father's death and Kai more or less stepped up to protect him, continuing his character arc for when he realised he was never going to be the Green Ninja. However, I'm a little mixed about Garmadon's revival. Don't get me wrong, the way he was brought back was clever, especially when the stakes were high when it was clear Sensei Garmadon wouldn't be coming back. But at the same time, knowing what happened in the Ninjago Movie, I was afraid he was brought back because he appeared in the film. Admittedly, I would've preferred to see more of Sensei Garmadon rather than Lord Garmadon because I think Lloyd has suffered enough and surely he deserves to catch up with his father. Plus, we've seen who Garmadon was before he was consumed by the Great Devourer's venom. Why don't we see more of that than the evil lord?

As long as they aren't breaking any rules, the writers could invent literally anything to take away her powers be it a magic spell, a new mystical item, or a new character who's powers is taking away elements. All you need to do is have Wu say "Nothing can take away Elemental Powers, well except for the ancient *[Insert Mystical Item here]* but that was last seen in the *[Insert cool new exotic realm here]* 500 years ago!" Boom, you've got an entire plot about the Ninja looking for a new MacGuffin in a cool new location. The story writes itself. Nya never really died but I do think she was brought back too quick. I was hoping to get more focus on Kai and Jay, the people closest to her. They both desperately need some focus and development and allowing them to grieve and showing them working through it longer than what we got could have been great. This would have also allowed us the audience felt the impact of her absence so much more than like two episodes before they went on a mission to bring her back. Honestly I'm surprised they haven't made characters dying and coming back a punchline by now like how Ninjago being attacked is just another Tuesday.

Yeah, it's sad. To be fair though, even if the characters are brought back, Ninjago is one of the few shows for it's target demographic that I've seen allow death of any kind. Even if cooperate refuses to let the writers keep significant death for reasons, the fact the death happens in the first place is somewhat admirable. And I like the points made that not every death is undone. Dr. Julien, Trimaar, Morro, Harumi's parents . . . I'm never going to understand what the point of Cole's fall was. Beautiful moment, but ultimately pointless.
@Obi-Wan_Kenobi
@Obi-Wan_Kenobi 2 жыл бұрын
Those are all really good points, so few in Ninjago's range even touch death. Even a show like Avatar kills characters off with less frequency and with less brutality than Ninjago. And it's not even a case of the writers only allowing death because it will be walked back because there are so many deaths in Ninjago that are either permanent or were originally designed to be permanent (Pythor, Garmadon, Harumi). But this also paradoxically makes death in Ninjago even more frustrating because they can go so much further and do so much more with death but shoot themselves in the foot by resurrecting characters. Ninjago's deaths usually achieve perfect emotional impact only to walk them back later which makes them weaker in retrospect. Like you did it Ninjago, mission accomplished. So why retroactively diminish your story and impact? I mean I know why, Ninjago can't let go of core and beloved characters but still.

Even though Lloyd's "death" was cheap and poorly executed, I still really liked the scene because it's the first moment of Lloyd finally being able to choose his own destiny. Especially in the SOG-MOTO arc, Lloyd is really put through the wringer in terms of heavy issues like abandonment, questioning his identity without his power, what power even means, how it should be used, etc... To see him go through everything in the show and then affirm to the FSM that he still wants to take on the heavy burden of being the Green Ninja serves to give Lloyd's entire journey throughout the series a little bow on top (at what was a conclusion to the series). Since that Lloyd got his symbolic (if not schmaltz-y) little conclusion, it opens up S11-onward Lloyd to focus on this "becoming like his father" arc, which, thank god, they've been hinting at a villain arc for him as early as Rebooted. As far as fakeout deaths go, it was probably the only one I was okay with (also because it doesn't try too hard to revel in it's grief. I feel like deaths like Zane and Cole's wanted to have their cake (ah! unintentional Cole pun!) and eat it too, being that they want the impact of character death without the consequences. At least with Lloyd's they didn't wallow in it for too long).

Lloyds fakeout death was fine. It lasted two seconds. So many other movies and TV shows do this sort of thing. Indeed, you are right. Your point about the emotions being dulled is especially true. Ninjago, like many franchises, is always trying to 1-up itself. It wants to produce higher and higher emotional peaks that will be remembered by the viewer and the most memorable scene are often those that are surprising or unprecedented. That is why character deaths are often these most remembered emotional peaks. You feel a tremendous sadness when a character dies because it means you will never see the again and the permanence of that loss will sty with you. But when you keep killing characters, it makes character death less special. The more you do it, the more mundane and less memorable such moments are. Even worse is when you nullify those deaths, because now not only are character deaths common, they no longer have consequences. And when you keep bringing characters back, you begin to trust death less and less. It take more effort to convince the audience that this character will stay dead. Once you bring someone back, you can bring anyone back and it can get to the point where if you revive a character enough times, people will not care if a character dies at all because they know they will just come back later. Death is no longer the permanent end, it's a temporary annoyance. The greatest example of the impermanence of death the the corresponding destruction of its emotional impact has to be Dragon Ball. By the end of that series, death didn't matter in the slightest because it happened so often and it was so easy to bring back characters. It got so bad that to actually make death a meaningful threat, they had to start killing people off in the Afterlife! Now that is next level reduction of death's importance! And sadly, this is a problem I am seeing more and more in media, particularly in long running franchises because some character are so beloved that the creators bring them back even when they were already killed off. Examples in include the newest phase of the MCU and Star Wars (Maul and Palpatine) But here's the thing, you can't have it both ways. Either you have an emotional death or you keep the character. Doing both in most senecios just cheapens death beyond repair and does not make us trust it. Like Palpatine was brought back and killed again in Rise of Skywalker but I will never trust that death because I saw him blow up twice in Return of the Jedi. If he survived that, he can absolutely surviving being disintegrated by his own Force Lighting. And that's sad because now that I don't trust his death, I don't trust the happy ending of the "Skywalker Saga". Death is so broken that I am practically expecting him to come back when Disney inevitably another trilogy to -desecrate- milk the franchise even harder. It's all honestly so nihilistic, I should not feel like death is pointless or meaningless but I can't help it when it happens so often in some franchises! If they story doesn't care about death anymore than why should I? Ninjago has this problem too. I don't trust death anymore and the writers keep trying harder and harder to give each new death more gravity so you do trust it. Hat's off to them for Nya's death, it was so well executed that I entirely trusted it for like 2 weeks. It took me many more months after that before I convinced myself she would _probably_ come back but even then was not entirely sure. But now that she's back I will likely never trust death again. Because how do you do a death better than what they did in Seabound? You can't, and now I'm worried that if they actually do eventually kill a character that I will never trust it even if it does end up being permeant. There are ways you can bring a character back and still make death feel permeant and consequential but it will only work if you bring characters back _extremely_ sparingly and in _extremely_ exceptional scenarios, like this is a one time only situation that can never be replicated. But that's not what Ninjago is doing because the majority of characters have come bak from death in unexceptional scenarios. For goodness sake, they opened a portal to the Departed Realm with Traveler's Tea which is a pretty common commodity! And at the end of the day, the only result of erasing character deaths are audiences distrusting what they see on screen and a desensitization to emotional moments. In other words, the only results are the two worst thing you can do your audiences. Because if they can't trust what they see or be emotionally impacted by it, what's even the point of watching anymore? Ninjago's situation isn't THAT bad yet because, in spite of everything I said, I still do trust most of what I see and am emotionally impacted by it. But if they aren't careful, it could be as bad Dragon Ball or Star Wars. God forbid they to do Ninjago what the sequels ended up doing to Star Wars, both franchises deserve so much better.

I wish Ninjago found more ways to give attention to characters who died, while still keeping them that way. Things like Wu's hallucination in S7 or Avatar Harumi in S13, utilizing characters in ways that actually increase the impact their deaths left on the characters. Or you could simply just feature them in flashbacks, showcasing unseen moments which impacted the protagonists, and generally expand their legacies. Would've been nice if Ninjago did things like that more often, but the show struggles to bring back characters that are _alive,_ let alone dead... So it was always doubtful

I agree with a lot of the things stated to be honest.. things are getting a bit repetitive when it comes to death and bringing characters back. But, we must also take into consideration the fact that the show is targeted towards a younger audience as well…they more or less have to bring back characters that play a main role in the story (especially when it comes to Nya , as she is is the only girl ninja making her more marketable to the female population and so on). However, I appreciate that they stuck with certain deaths like Morro, Mistake, Dr. Julien and even held back and scraped the plot line of bringing back Jay’s mother. They have more meaning and make the audience wonder . I also enjoy that they did not just give Nya her powers back and made her live her biggest fear of losing them (as stated in S11). A bit repetitive again with her arc in season 1, but we saw so little of her in this season so I am hoping that the rest of the season handles her well. Zane’s first death and revival (the fact that there are more than one , makes me laugh:)))), were handled the best: stakes, change, mystery and an AMAZING soundtrack(both the sacrifice theme itself and the titanium ninja theme tied to him rediscovering himself, showing how much thought they put into it)However the following were not the greatest…especially Cole’s in March of the Oni. Crystalized should have focused on how the Ninja continue keeping the peace without Nya. Instead of a year passing between the two seasons, it should have been a few weeks and showcased how the team are coping with the loss. Kai may have gotten angrier, Jay would have gotten depressed, Zane would have turned off his emotions, and Cole & Lloyd would have kept everyones' spirits up. I found it kind of cheap to basically have a do-over of the Tournament of Elements Intro with the ninja team split up and getting back together again. Considering how much character development Lloyd got in the Oni Trilogy and how he persevered despite seemingly losing all his friends, it seems surprising that he would just leave the team and withdraw from public view after Nya's disappearance. It's way too late in the series for the Ninja to split up after a loss. I'm still mixed on whether Nya should eventually come back, but it definitely shouldn't have been in Crystalized - it is way too early and decreases the impact of her sacrifice. I feel like the writers are running out of ideas, which is why they're taking plot points from earlier seasons (ninja splitting up after someone's death, Overlord wanting to take over Ninjago, prison arc, and Nya becoming Samurai X are all Crystalized subplots that have already happened in earlier seasons).

At this point, if Nya gets her powers back in the next season (let alone at the end of Crystallized), then yeah, Ninjago pretty much has no stakes in my eyes. But if she stays powerless at least for as long as Cole was a ghost, I'd leave a lasting impact, perhaps even balancing out reviving her so soon. But at the same time S15 is Ninjago's "Endgame", so who knows, Ninjago as we know it could conclude here. If that happens, I suppose reviving Nya for the "ending" makes sense

Despite the fact that Nya was going to be brought back, despite the fact that I KNEW she was going to be brought back, I still cried when the Seabound finale first aired. I still teared up, I still sat on my couch, processing it, having my heart break when Jay begged her to not leave him, when her friends and family all tried to convince her to stay. And she couldn't. And I cried. Not like, an ugly cry. I didn't sob. I had tears go down my face, my heart was clenching, and I giggled a little when my friend asked me, baffled, if I was crying over a Lego show. And, yeah, I realized, I was. And when I was a little kid,,, Watching Zane die for the first time way back when s3 aired, I cried. I didn't cry like I did during Seabound. I threw myself on the floor and bawled. My mom likes to tease me about it, because apparently she had to console me and then I declared to her that "Zane is now my favorite ninja!!!" because I didn't want him to be lonely or something. Just like how I felt my stomach clench when I saw Morro die, when Harumi was squished, when Cole flew off the Bounty, when Pixal was shown to have been a disembodied voice in s4, when Nya died in s6, and I can go on and on. I teared up at Zane's Final Message in s11. Rationally, I knew some of these things wouldn't last. These characters would come back, one way or another. But in the moment? I felt the feelings the show wanted me to feel. And yeah, for the overall story, maybe the constant fake-outs and stuff aren't ideal, but how the story presents them and how they're mostly dealt with before and after is what gets me more than anything. To me, it's that one moment where I feel like I might cry a little is what's most important. And, sure, the ninjago writers aren't geniuses. Far from it. I'm pretty sure I heard about one of the writers talking about how they change Kai's personality sometimes for the plot. Either way, the plot doesn't have to be amazing or impressive or mind-blowing for me to enjoy it. That's not how it is for everyone, of course, and I don't expect it to be, but for me, I like it as is.

If there's one thing you can give the Ninjago writers credit for it's how they are willing to take huge risks in the show to deliver emotional moments. No kids show pushes it as far as Ninjago does but that's what makes it so thrilling to watch. You never know what will happen next in Ninjago but you always know it's going to feel earned and impactful.

this is true. Its happened with a lot of other franchies as well, such as star wars, or Marvel, most recently with their 'What if' series. I honestly think what would fix this, is that they permently kill of either Cole, or Lloyd. Lloyd because he is taking up too much focus all the time, and Cole because he doesn't have a future, and because the future reflections are now connected to Ninjago again.
@Obi-Wan_Kenobi

Cole I understand but Lloyd? He doesn't really take up too much focus but he will take up a considerable amount since he is the main character of the franchise. Lloyd will always have more focus than any other character but his focus is not detracting from the other characters at this point. In the entire Wildbrain era, he's only taken center stage since the Ice Chapter and Crystalized but even then the other Ninja are given plenty of focus during these chapters. I just don't think it would make sense to kill of Lloyd when he is pretty much the face of the franchise, you never kill off the main character.

I'm really not digging crystalized in general but bringing back dead characters, in particular, bothers me. There's no time for the characters to grieve over Nya's death beyond 1 episode. Bringing her back doesn't seem to be bringing her character (or the people around her) in a good direction either. I would've much preferred a season about the ninja (Kai and Jay in particular since they were the closest to her and need focus) grieving. Harumi is uneccesary too. Her character ended really well and there are other ways of hurting Lloyd. The only character I think could work is the Overlord. IMO he kinda sucked before and from the trailer, there seems to be a reason given for why he wants Ninjago to be turned to darkness.

I’m not a big fan of the chess board analogy. While it can be interesting for the plot, I personally think that character death matters most for its powerful emotion: and not just the emotions of the viewer. Pain and loss draw out the human and flawed elements within each character. After each important sacrifice, we get to see how each member of the cast deals with it. Kai lashes out. Lloyd takes charge. Jay tries stay distracted. Wu blames himself. This not only adds depth to their personalities, but also humanizes them. *Loss is something we can all relate to. It’s a part of life.* It’s not relatable, however, to see all your loved ones conveniently return from their seeming demise.

I agree with you. I was kind of upset when they brought Nya back so soon after her death. It really lessens the impact of Seabound and her sacrifice. Like, imagine if they actually killed her off? Or if they killed Cole off in March of the Oni? That would be crazy and so interesting. Almost every show that I've seen that kills off characters is never brave enough to kill off the main characters, but only the side characters. This is a thing that Ninjago does, but also so does Stranger Things. Stranger Things has many deaths, but all of them are from side characters, or characters that were only around for one season. And when they actually do kill off a main character, like when they killed Hopper, they just brought him back. *Spoilers for Stranger Things 4 part 2* And when they killed off Max, they just brought her back too. I really wish they would have just killed her off. All of season 4 was a great build up to her death, and then to tease us so much, but then not kill her off, makes it less impactful. It would have been such a nice ending to her story. I do think that bringing back Hopper was a good move, since the whole Russian prison arch was so cool, but still. When I was about to watch season 4, I thought that they would only kill off a side character, like Eddie, and that they wouldn't be brave enough to kill off a main character because they never have, and sure enough I was right. At this point, I'm not even afraid that any main character is going to die next season, because they've never been brave enough to do it, and when they did, they just brought them back. Sorry for the Stranger Things rant, but Ninjago is pretty similar too. Ninjago has killed off many characters in its 11 year run, but the only ones that have stayed dead are the side characters, and when they actually do kill off a main character, they just bring them back. This not only makes the death feel less impactful and less meaningful, as you said, but it makes us not even afraid of anyone dying. Death in real life is brutal. When someone dies, they die. No coming back. Imagine if shows actually did this, and ever brought them back no matter what fans say. That would be so impactful, and make the stakes of the show super high, and actually make us super worried for the main characters because if they die, they actually die! I wish Ninjago and other shows were like this, but no one is brave enough to do it.

My problems with the "dead" people brought back in crystallized Nya: shouldn't have happened mainly because her character arc was completed in seabound. I get they need to bring her back for the younger female fans but it ruins her character rather than making her character better. (If anyone wants to bring a "dead character back" make sure that you have a reason to bring him/her back, and don't bring a character back for fans at all even for marketing.) her character is now there and feels outa place. Harumi: her character is a 50/50 (for me) mainly because you could tell more but I feel like her character shouldn't have come back (mainly because now I can't ship her and morro together) and her death make her character better. But once again there could be more to her story but they should've done something with her in the departed realm with other dead characters, still keeping the fact that she's dead and still getting to see her and other characters with out reversing their deaths. That would've made a great spin off series! The overlord: aww hell naw that dude got his butt kicked about 3 times! And plus he gonna be beat again. I mean him coming back isn't the worst character being brought back from the "dead" Over all: I'll just wait to see cryistalzed.

I never belived for a second Cole died in March of the Oni, because they already established what they think of funerals. Secondly, killing characters is fine sometimes, it doesn't matter if in the middle of the show Kai pushes one of Chen's guys into a river making him hit a rock and never wake up. It's also ok if people fall off high places, it's not so gory. But whenever they do kill characters it needs to be in some mystical magical way, but then again Garmadon slowly squeezing a robot's organs out is ok because there was no blood, Or Samokai getting vaporized because it's in the end of a season and it was flashy.

They ominously show him having no future in season 5, tease “One ninja will fall” in 10, and settling on a fakeout and a coverup by Tommy on Twitter. @Obi-Wan_Kenobi

Well I will say this, I don't think Nya's story was wrapped up perfectly. I think that when you look at a show like Ninjago, you have to ask yourself what kind of a show is it? It is the type to give characters a happy ending or the type to make characters end their stories as mere shadows of who they used to be in terms of spirit and personality? Is it the type to reward character who do the right thing with happiness, or punish them with a loss of identity? I think Ninajgo is wholeheartedly in the former on both counts, it is a very optimistic show that wants to give its heroes the happy ending they deserves. Because of this, I simply cannot see Nya's merging with the Endless Sea and forgetting her identity as the perfect conclusion to her arc, that's just too depressing. Say what you will about how well her return was executed but with Nya, I think the most satisfying and fulfilling conclusion for her story is for her to find happiness with the people she loves knowing *who she is.* I really expect nothing less of any of the Ninja because Ninjago is a story about victory, happiness, destiny an happiness. I think it says a lot about a show/franchise when you can envision the ending because the show has trained you to know it's character and stories so well that you can sort of _feel_ how the show will end. And with Nya, the ending it feels she deserves is a happy life married to Jay with some kids. In addition to being satisfying, it just feels the most natural and I do not think the show would end on anything less. That's the perfect wrap up, and I'm wiling to be it's the one Tommy has in store.

@@kobehope501 Happy endings are not boring or uninspired, they are the sort of endings that people have loved for thousands of years. And you can still have Nya overcome her all her fears without having her lose her entire identity. As I said earlier, Ninjago is the type of show that rewards character who do the right thing with happiness, it is a very optimistic show. If you leave Nya as part of the Endless Sea as a reward for doing the right thing, it sends a message that doing the right thing means losing yourself, losing your friends, and losing your very being. That is too pessimistic a message, Ninjago would not deliver it. I entirely agree they should they should have kept her out of commission for a long time (1-2 seasons perhaps) but Nya's story was not wrapped up because while it fit her character arc, the ending of Seabound was simply far too derepressing for the outlook Ninjago conveys about life. It's not boring or uninspired to give characters happy endings, it is hopeful and that's a core component of Ninjago. Since Lloyd seems to be the main focus character of Crystallized, i'm thinking that this season ends with a big sacrifice & i'm hoping it will be Lloyd. The reason why is that it will effect the other ninja on a deeper level & it will leave Ninjago city without it's greatest protector. So if he dies & sees his grandfather again I hope this time he chooses to go with him to wherever he goes, because if he fully mastered his dragon & oni sides & defeats Ninjago's greatest threat he will find peace with himself & decides he has completed the Green-Ninja's ultimate destiny.

@Obi-Wan_Kenobi
@Obi-Wan_Kenobi 2 жыл бұрын
@@LukeNinjago Most tv shows and movies in general don't kill off main characters, not just kid shows. But it's not necessarily a problem as killing off characters is often damaging to the story. Once you kill off a character you no longer have that everything that character brings to the table, you get no more of that character's personality, their arcs, their hopes, their dreams, and their interactions with others. In most cases, you stand to lose a lot more than you have to gain by killing someone off. Plus, any popular character is part of a franchise's brand and usually the focus of the franchise's story. The story tends to lose focus and it's identity without that character which I'm sure would happen to Ninjago if they killed off any of the main characters but especially Lloyd. Even a show/book series like Game of Thrones which is famous for killing characters has a few characters that remain alive throughout the story because they are, for all intents and purposes, the main characters through which the story is being told. Without those characters, you can't tell your story as effectively. It's one thing to permanently kill off side characters or villains (which Ninjago has done) but it's a whole other thing to try and kill off the face of a franchise. Most media, be it for kids or adults, just don't do that because it's really hard to keep the audience invested and have a narrative focus when their main character dies.

They upgraded his storyline and gave him true purpose in the grand scheme of things and when he had his final confrontation with obi wan it didn't feel cheesy or bad but it felt like a calm and good way to go out. In my opinion a much more interesting arc for Nya in crystallized could be her realizing that since her powers are coming back, her connection to the sea is becoming more powerful, and she'll know she has to eventually return to it. It could be really interesting to see how Nya reacts to living on borrowed time, instead of what we got was just... Boring, and absolutely not worth undoing her perfect sacrifice. Even this idea I suggested is not better than just letting her be gone in my opinion, but if they really wanted Nya back for a final season while making her sacrifice still mean something then they could've done this.

Zane's death was the first, so I remember it vividly. I was a kid when it aired, and it really got to me. I think it works because they revealed pretty quickly that he was okay rather than stringing us along. Rather than banking on the shock of Zane returning in the next season, we focus on how his death affected the ninja. The focus is on the characters rather than the death itself.

i'm gonna say something about "death" in ninjago that people pretty much never realize: characters in ninjago never really "die", they just move to the departed realm for a different life, which means that a character can be brought back, we've even seen it in s11, with the kaiju protocol, the preeminent was brought back using traveller's tea. and for special cases like nya and zane, they can be brought back in different ways, zane rebuilt himself and eventually remembered who he was, and nya was able to bring herself back as her nrg form was tied to her powers, so if she loses them (chen's staff, aspheera's magic etc.) she can go back to being human and for the overlord, ninjago has always had a balance of light and darkness, so no matter how much the overlord is defeated, he comes back, but as a side effect, he gets weaker so yeah, death in ninjago, while it can be effective if characters aren't brought back (mystaké, dr. julien etc.) but they can always come back, be it by rituals, the realm crystal (which was destroyed in s10) or a lot of traveller's tea.

The reason whythe overlord keeps coming back is because he is the natural darkness for ninjago At least that's my theory

It's weird to see a video about how death doesn't matter is a problem, and being a Dragon Ball fan in which that's just the norm in most cases. Still, this does make me want to watch Ninjago again as I haven't watched it consistently since Season 4, and that show was my childhood

think Pythor's revival worked pretty well as he could feasibly survive being eaten by the great devourer and he continues to play an interesting role in seasons 3 and 4.

I think since crystalized is the final season of Ninjago before the new series in 2023, it makes Nya and Harumi returning a bit better since I'm certain the status quo would change at the end of the season in a way that wouldn't be possible otherwise. Or if I'm being honest, at least Harumi's return matters. I'm very uncertain about Nya.

Zane’s death was the most heart breaking then he came back. After that the deaths where common and we knew they would come back (most) Going back to Zane’s death, without it season 4 would of not happened the way it did as they really went on that island for Zane and to get him back! An example of a real death. It is said once when another character died. For example Zane’s father died and we hear Cyrus borg say “I am sorry for your father” or something like that. It was said once or twice. I know he was a side character but I think that people like him should have been recognized or something as he did do a lot. Going to another topic. When Nya went to the ocean. People where devastated but again. Wow. Next season she’s back. Surprised. But that also did play a role in Ninjago. Like it shown us that when Zane, Nya or others get lost/ die / disappear the ninja just don’t know what to do and don’t think they can make a team without that person so they just leave each other. This shows that everyone is involved and loved. This is what matters honestly. Edit: Let’s not forget how Borg is the coolest father that dosnt care about rule breaking

When it came to cole I never viewed him as being dead, not because a lack of stakes, but mostly because he has a small fragment of the element of creation. If the dragons were supposed to actually fight the oni since creation opposed destruction to me, it made sense they and their element would have a resistance to it.

Let's count deaths of characters who were "reborn" or found to not be dead: Pythor, Overlord, and Zane in season 3, Garmadon in season 8, Cole and Lloyd in season 10, Zane in season 11, and now Nya and Harumi in season 15. I'll excuse the Overlord coming back in Crystalized as counting as a death because Rebooted made it pretty clear that the Overlord can only go dormant but cannot be completely destroyed.
@diabolicald4027
@diabolicald4027 2 жыл бұрын
While I do agree, the thing is with some of the examples. First off, why does everyone say Nya died? She just fused with her element, not died. For Harumi, we never actually see her death, plus it is possible it is the video game version she still has her memories somehow and with everyone cubed coming back she probably did as well. For the overlord, we obviously didn’t see the end of him after season 3, the prophesy said the green ninja would defeat the dark lord. ( while I agree the stupid scroll weren’t completely accurate, I do think they have some meaning. I also agree that Cole and Lloyd’s ‘deaths’ were kinda cheap. But Cole’s had a somewhat decent reason for Garmadon’s arc and the story progressing. Lloyd’s was mostly for him to meet his grandfather which wasn’t necessary but it was a good viewing experience for me. I do feel if either Kai, Nya or Jay died, it might be more impactful, maybe Cole but since he was already a ghost they would probably just give him that treatment again. And with Nya being the arguably weakest member of the team now, her mortality seems like a greater threat. These are just my thoughts but I do think they have some merit. (Also I think Lil Nelson is the new master of water, he is fighting with the ninja so he must have some power or they would never let him fight and his outfit is purple and light blue. Purple representing his past status as the purple ninja and the light blue for the water ninja.)

Also a question I had while rewatching a few of the older season currently on the end of season 4 but in season 3 the golden master AKA the Overlord it's shown to be made out of the four weapons which no one can handle which is why Zane was damage and samuki died by so how is Lloyd able to hold the armor with out a scratch or any affects garmadon can because he evolved himself to do so but Lloyd a human is capable of doing the same could it be some poor writing or are they setting something up no one knows but I just noticed it while watching rebooted I'd like to hear everyones thoughts in the comments
