Here in 2021, loving Delving Deeper and digging this channel! DD is a true gem, the way it is written is really inspiring and conveys the tone of 3lbb perfectly. I love how it acts as a window into the past of how the original was and what it tried to convey. DD parry is really op tho: plate+15lb weapon+parry means

With the D20 that went from 0-9 twice, you didn't need a D6, you just used a different colored crayon on each set of 0-9.

One page monster list is a cool thing for getting started in 5 min without having to read too much, but at the same time I love the long description of AD&D with monster's ecology, lore and other stuff. Don't you? This makes me think there are two kind of OSR games, for different palates: short run-oriented games with short monster lists (The Black Hack, Whitehack RPG, Delving Deeper) and long run-oriented games with long monster lists (basically most of the other retroclones I can come up with).

Each monster does have a monster entry of his own apart from the list.

what is better in your opinion, Delving Deeper or DCC RPG? DCC RPG seems far more interesting to me, a blast, while Delving Deeper seems way more standard.

+Andrea Rovai ~ Two totally different animals. At the price, delving deeper is a "must have" just for the reference & context alone. Even if you never play it, it gives a great look at where the game started, and it's simple enough to give a shot with almost no learning curve.

ivanmike1968 Spellcraft & Swordplay is D&D if Chainmail was kept as the combat system instead of the optional d20 that became popular later. I haven't read Delving Deeper yet but S&S hit that history bug for me. DCC is like OSR taken to Pathfinder complexity with some HackMaster 4e grittiness but none of the humour. Very crunchy game.
