so you are talking a lot about variety, for you does that mean you will specialize further once u are past residency or stick to general dermatology? would that allow u to see that variety, or would that be a time where you just don’t specialize any further? thank u so much for making this video, i’m trying to figure out what i want to study in college and videos like this are helping me a lot! sorry if my question doesn’t make much sense, i’m definitely a newbie in the speciality arena.

The amazing thing about dermatology is that I can structure my clinic to focus on what I'm most interested in. I love gen derm because theres so much variety in that! As of now, I have a special interest in hair, so I hope to have a clinic with gen derm but with a little more focus on hair disorders than other conditions seen in gen derm.

I was wondering if you were ever “squimish” and if so did it go away?

Definitely! It most commonly occurred in Med school when lesions had an odor and when doing a procedure on that lesion, the odor can get to ya! Just knowing what to expect in those circumstances and seeing it repetitively def helps with that. Also in general I don’t work on an empty stomach, especially for procedures/surgeries, to prevent from feeling faint.

Do dermatologists do surgery?

yep! Outpatient surgery though. Theres also a special type called Mohs surgery.

How many years to become a dermatologist?

4years of undergrad , 4years of Med school, 4 years of residency training. As a resident, you’re a physician but training under board certified dermatologist. Once you complete residency, you take boards to become board certified.
