@@skeletronron7402 Don't feel too bad. The default stages difficulty is the maximum difficulty for an end game roster. In similar modes in the past the default used to be the easiest and you add modifiers to it to make it harder. This mode is just not good right now.

@@akmalrafiaa4772 the mobs in A3(and probably S3, never tried it though, since I got the medal) specifically requires a specific niche if you want your tank to survive. In a nutshell, the stages are designed for you to use medics and support, and not just brute force your way out of it. And when I say support, it's those that provide percentile traits/effects like Sanctuary. The mode is good, but I also 95% agree with Supah's take on it.

Sverdsmeltr got done dirty as a boss. He's such an interesting boss design with really unique mechanics that force you to approach your strategy in unexpected ways, but he got put in a mode where every other enemy is just a stat stick with no interesting properties whatsoever

Been playing a little over a year now, recently hit level 120, and S3 is cancer. It practically expects you to have a full E2 level 90, M3 skill, module level 3 team in order to beat it. So I just settled with clearing S2, and that's where I'm going to leave it... I actually enjoyed CC because it felt like an incremental climb, as you played the stage more, you felt more comfortable making it more difficult for yourself, and you were rewarded for it. This mode just throws you into the frying pan and, just like you said, punishes you for making use of the main gimmick of the mode. How this gamemode went through playtesting without it being shot down as a garbage idea is beyond me.

AK will never be mainstream because of it's genre

DoS sucks so much because of the elite enemies buffed to fucking Ultra Instinct. I have no problem with the boss being super hard to take down, but when I have to start the stage with Suzuran S3 and a full Mlynar duration to kill TWO samurais, it just feels like you're instead fighting 12 bosses.

thats what makes it work tho, the enemies have to be menaces so you have to spread your resources to deal with them, if they were weaker, buff army-ing against the boss becomes easier and completely negates it's difficulty

@@SimplyNexy That's exactly what doesn't make it work. They cut enemy count to 1/4 the usual number of enemies CC had, so to compensate they had to make every enemy 400% stronger. If this cramming of stats is the direction they did want DoS to take to make the mode stand out from CC, I guess it just wasn't for me, and for a lot of people, since CC lasted 12 iterations while this mode only one.

I feel like gating the later stages behind buffless clears was the worst decision they made because it's imposing a gargantuan wall on the reward potential for newer players. I was able to do C/B-3 without much difficulty as someone who's been playing for a little over a month but my utter lack of decent arts damage operators is making the knights on A-3 feel rather insurmountable.

I disagree that Design of strife was attempting to be CC, I think Design of strife was meant to be a filler activity to make the waiting for chapter release bearable for people who already cleared thru 12. instead of giving people 2 weeks of dead activity as a reward for catching up. just a 0 sanity cost event with some new maps and rewards.

CC makes your struggle worthy while DOS literally give you middle finger at the start of game. My problem with DOS is they lock reward only for veteran. IS you can play multiple time to get reward and CC even if you are new player you still can get reward or at least get enough point to get main reward but not DOS. You need to clear the stage to get point and you can't replay it to get more point

What's funny about S3 is that yes, it's not skill issue that it's hard, but another reason why it's not skill issue is because the stage feels more like a math test, there is only one answer: Ceobe. Literally every YT guide, and even my clear on that stage used Ceobe. The boss is so damn tanky nobody but buff/debuff army Ceobe can significantly touch the boss. Heck, even in kyo's guide Mylnar gets shafted to clearing out other enemies but the boss. S3 is gatekept by a drugged up dog on shrooms throwing hot knives ironically at the literal guy that is on fire already. This isn't like CC0 or 1 where max risk was gatekept by potentials, this is like Twilight of Wolumund but without the percentage towers gimmick, Ceobe is the main gimmick of DOS. DOS would probably have been a good contingency contract event, instead of focusing on buffing the enemies, it's focusing on buffing the main boss itself, like an actual raid boss. Something like Red from CC12, but if the risks on the regular avengers also affected the main boss.

They failed to made a equivalent replacement for CC, there's so much problems with this gamemode. I'd say the biggest problem is the requirements for getting the skin and full medals is finishing A3, but low-end clears definitely are not possible for A3 there's. Also a bug in the first week of release in CN where u could use to do A3 easier unfortunately its not avail in EN, the worst part is players who play both servers have to endure this bullshitery twice. Never hope to see this gamemode again.

Ye i think the problem is a bit deeper than a simple "they didn't thought it through". Most of the CC's you could clear with 1-2 6* meta ops and a bunch of low stars, or just low stars if you are smart and patient enough. This one is just a stat check which is anti Arknights spirit as it can get. Is the game shifting towards p2w? Not to mention bad pulling outcomes and stuff. It feels like all the recent pull sessions i get either close or literally worst case scenario outcomes. Efja alter 250+pulls, GG i did around 200 pulls through the times her banners are on and i got jack sht so i decided to wait for the certificate shop. Typhoon i had saved up pity of around 70, on the 4th pull i got off banner. And please drop the "luck issue" BS, why is odd manipulation a taboo topic in Arknights when A) The company heavily financially benefits if the players are somewhat unlucky. B) Its proven other companies have done it based on internal and external factors.

My own experience, I beat C and B, glanced at a clear for A and did something similar to clear A, glanced at a clear for S, said 'I'm out', later came back and tried it a few times, even losing when trying to exactly follow a guide (probably not enough m3/max level), beat all the side stages...and only learned about the buff system when a friend of mine mentioned he stumbled upon it.

my alternate take is making both buffs and downsides as options, for example you want to lower their defense and you could choose a challenging downside like no melee unit spaces and the buffs and downsides have individual changes to the score at the end similar to your idea

It doesn't matter) and this is just stupid. This event hides a 3 STAR OPERATOR'S SKIN behind like, 7 bullshit stages that are impossible to clear for the only players who will actually care about the 3*'s skin, the low-rarity nicheknights or those who still have *some* use out of the unit itself. Why? For the difficulty of the event from A2-onwards, you get... Not many relevant rewards. So, even for those who clear it, the only reward that matters is the skin- if they care about it in the first place. This has been two weeks of just pure boredom in arknights, for me. I used her to clear S-1 without buffs. Putting her on the top tile on those two lone tiles on the right helps a bunch. But my strat used a bunch of specialists and casters, so I couldn't get any higher without buffs or following the meta.

I haven't touched grass and am mainly a veteran that clears with guides. This time around even the easy guides were finnicky or had operators I didn't use at all. S3 was way too hellish for me.

This is the statement I never wanted to say, but now I want to. I would rather play Stultifera Navis on E0 rather than clearing DOS. It's just way too extreme for people with things to do, like I have to do multiple academic papers, and now you give me this bullsht of a mode. Training Intervention is good tho. S-3 can go fk itself.

The fact that I have to rely to YT guides and bring out all the Big Guns OPs just to clear this event is BS. I don't mind having difficult content, but not to this extent. CC fully maxed is comparable in terms of difficulty but at least in CC you can mix and match the ingredients and still cook, but this one came out of the kitchen freaking toasted.

I just gave up on it after A stages (I actually liked it until that point), and then these S stages crushed my spirit completely, skill issue + my niche knights don't help it for sure 😅

The mechanics were interesting for the boss, but I barely beat A-3 and had to borrow a hoshi because the enemies just hit too hard, and once I got the skin I stopped. I didn't even try the S-3. I also did not use buffs because I heard they limit the rewards.

Deleted Arknights a month ago just before I played it straight daily for almost a year because I can't keep up my time playing together with my job. Aside from everything mentioned, the buffs themselves were uninteresting and generic. We know they're capable of doing amazing and interesting things with buffs. Just look at integrated strategies and how varied everything is.

I know and understand HG want to test player after years releasing broken/strong operator especially for veteran that already max every meta op but man, what is the reason of giving a gimmick if we instantly get punished from using it, at least make me took 1 buff for free

@@SUPAH_SUPAH_SUPAH No, Supah. The 150 pity guarantee is only for the solo banner, not the double banner. P.S. This is why I hate the pity changes as it confuses several people into thinking that the 150 pity is applicable to any banner.

Ye I agree. The buff system here is just stupid. Like it tells us to use the buff yet we wont get all the rewards if we use them? I would have been fine with being allowed 2 buffs before they start taking away rewards

as a long time player with a bunch of strong 6 stars i can't even beat s1 with as many buffs as possible and every guide i looked up uses minimum 2 operators i don't have lmao they never should've gotten rid of CC

man, this mode sounds like it sucks balls, i haven't played arknights since december but if they wanna integrate buffs into the game mode without losing the damned rewards, they should do it like Integrated Strategies that could give you a random buff or choosing from a set of random buff, players could adjust to the buffs they get and still get rewards

Whats funny is. This event thing reminds me why I dropped AK and started over recently. I came into AK when it first dropped. It was kinda...ehh to me. I ended up hitting a wall pretty hard and ended up putting it down for ages. I saw new content and decided to come back in fresh. Ive made it to about Ch4 and I know Im nowhere ready to try these stages(I mean shoot I figured out how to beat the weekly orodum map.) Its cool. But without the units. Its awful. Theres no 'hey newbie heres a simpler stage to get your feet wet' its 'welcome to hell motherfuckerz!!!'the whole way through. Its fun to a point. But it feels like to me,after warching a few guides and learning from them,theres veey few methods to the madness that work. Ah well. Maybe someday in a rerun I can get Cardigans skin. Its cute. But itll be fine.

The key to S3 is using the mechanics of the units to get instant redeploys on certain carry units (Mjlynar, Ceobe, Suzuran, Saria, Qiubai, etc.) It requires planning and precision... it was a little tedious. But it was also satisfying b/c you must use the boss and the eaters against themselves.

Managed to win with a team of 13 6* at E2L60M3 (no modules), and cleared it thanks to Qiubai... Investing on modules in case AK does this shit again.
