Thank you for mentioning that Johnny is the one who told her to do what she needed to do -- I can't remember his exact quote. Devon's tactic and the resourcefulness displayed are encouraged by Cobra Kai, so, while not looked upon favorably by Miyagi-do, it's understandable that she would do it. I guess we, as the viewing audience, are meant to feel like she cheated, but I agree with you, WatchParty. Cobra Kai has always been about technicalities and fudging or even flouting the rules (e.g., "Sweep the leg," ""He ran into your fist...He can't continue. That means you win!", "Keep the score zero-zero."), so Devon's maneuver is hardly as extreme or even technical, since Barnes himself didn't elaborate on the rules.

It’s possible Anthony & Devon sabotaged Kenny together. When the final 4 are walking out to start the race, Anthony is in the background and looks at Devon as Kenny sips his spiked water bottle. During the race, Tory says "it's gonna be hard to beat Kenny" & Anthony replies “Devon’s got this”. Then when everyone thinks Kenny won, Anthony is not clapping like the rest, but laughs and claps when Kenny craps his pants! He also smilingly says afterwards that "after what happened to Kenny, a bloody nose doesn't seem that bad" and gives another little laugh. Anthony & Devon both had motives, and they were chummy together at the school scene earlier in the episode, so they easily could have done it together.

I wonder if Devon will have a scene with Kreese in part 2 where he tells her she’s done nothing wrong, she's just done what she needed to do to be at the tournament. This also makes me wonder if Tory might talk to him about the All-Valley final, and how she didn't win. Will he try to convince her that she did win legit? In season 2 Tory says during the high school fight “This isn't a tournament so there are no rules”. So I guess she sees things in a similar way to Kreese, but only outside of a tournament. Maybe both Kreese and Tory will talk to Devon about what she did and have conflicting feelings about it. I already think Devon and Tory will talk to each other about losing their moms. Maybe this is something else they could talk about.

I typically agree with you Watchparty, but not this time. Devon is the LAST person who should be at the Sekai Taikai. They are at a tournament where the stakes are high, and Cobra Kai has heavy hitters such as Kwon and now Tory. She wouldn't last in it. Her skill level at Karate is lower than everyone involved, compared to Kenny who is way way WAY more skilled at Karate than her. If he is on Cobra Kai's side now that will be a massive loss on the Miyagi Do side now.

idk what Kenny ever did to prove he was good at karate, he was dogged by Robby, beat Hawk by cheating, got EMBARRASSED by Tory and Sam who weren’t even hitting him, and beat up Larusso who has no karate skills. While Devon took a flag from Hawk fair and square, made it all the way to the semi finals in the all valley and lost to Tory whos like the best female fighter, she also kinda kept up with Sam who has waaaay more experience than her. So her losses r against the 2 best fighters not to mention she helped Tory hold back Kim Da Eun. Only thing Kenny has is speed, while Devon has skill, IQ, BIQ, and Endurance where she literally beat him.

He also knocked down Kyler TWO times in training who at the point of Season 4 (When Kenny was introduced) was more experienced at Karate than he was and bigger than Kenny too, and yet still got knocked down by him. He got his flags taken by other students to prove it's just a skill issue on that instance. Yeah...she made it to the Semi finals against a bunch of lower ranked fighters. That doesn't really prove anything other than she...maybe has potential to git gud at Karate if she actually TRIES and stop expecting instant validation for doing the BARE minimum. Yeah she lost to Tory. Badly. As in she didn't even get a CHANCE to do anything to her. She also didn't keep up with Sam. As I stated on another reply comment, Sam was going way easy on her on that first part of the fight on Season 5. Probably because she KNEW Devon really showed she didn't have the skill to match her. When she saw that again...Devon did have potential in the Cobra Kai way it just through her off balance for a bit. After Sam called time out and Chozen gave her a much needed pep talk, the fight was insanely one side in Sam's favor. Devon suffered another major loss against another female fighter. Her helping them hold back Kim Da Eun is not the feat you think it is, especially when Kim was holding back against all three of them. Let's see...Kenny has speed (You said it). He also has skill as proven with the fact that he learned the Silver Bullet from Terry Silver of all people, might be quite possibly the BEST KK Veteran Fighter on the entire show. At least up until Daniel beat him and we can't forget the fact that he was actually the one holding his training against the Sensei battling him when he was at Cobra Kai and had Kyler as "backup". Where as Devon was actually the one keeping her training back. To the point where her obvious backup Tory had to set her straight and she didn't even listen. I will give you IQ. After all, she was apart of the debate team, but I fail to see how that helps her in a Karate fight against a skilled opponent like Kenny. Battle IQ? Lol! In what way? The type of endurance you speak of is not the same as battle endurance. Especially since never ONCE in the show has it ever shown Devon can handle major blows, in fact quite the opposite, as again her loss against Sam on Season 5 proves she really can't. Keep in mind this too...Tory has more endurance than Sam. This is obvious, yet she still got knocked out by Sam on the Season 2 school fight.

Yo guys. Got some theories on how the show will go. For the All Valley, I reckon there will be a tournament in the Valley, because I think its been half a year? Maybe less that Season 4 came out in the show, and we have no idea how long the Sekai Takai will be going on for, and by the length of the episodes I would say probably a few weeks to a month. A tournament in the Valley could be due. When Johnny and Daniel left to the Barcelona with Daniel giving that monologue, we see the Miyagi-Dos back in the Valley with their gi and still training. Mike Barnes, or possibly Julie Pierce, would teach the Miyagi-Dos back at the Valley and for the tournament. For the Sekai Taikai, I got a lot of theories. First one is for the leak of Miguel in the Cobra kai gi with the captains headband and Johnny on the board with the Cobra logo next to him. Now, we know Daniel and Johnny had an argument at the end of Ep 5, and I believe their relationship will deteriorate as the tournament goes on. They would want people to preform things differently, do different things, and themselves will have arguments. Or, in episode 1, at the start when Johnny and Daniel are talking about Johnny’s training, they get into a small argument with Johnny ending it with saying “When do I run shit by you”. This could be forshadowing. In the leaked video where they are seen talking infront of the massive skyscraper, Johnny seems to walk away annoyed as Daniel looks the same, more angered though. We know they will argue a lot more. I think this could reach a breaking point when they find out what Devon did, and they have a big argument, or something to do with Tory or one of their other fighters. If the Devon thing is right, Johnny could take her side with valid reasons as they argue, causing Johnny to split from Miyagi Do. Miguel becomes captain, devon girls captain. I dont think they would do Miguel dirty with the 2v2 fights and not the singular ones, which is why he would split. Hawk could possibly join too. If this happens, there would be more fights against Kwon with out Miyagi Dos rather than just a few of the main guys. The conversation Stingray gave will not go in vain, and I hope they bring the Challenger back. With the photo of Kreese looking worried, I think it’s because he sees Terry Silver returning to possibly promote or sponsor the tournament, or perhaps have a team of his own with hired people who are considered some of the best. Cool if the dojo was named Quicksilver or something. Robby wont get injured by Kwon with the blood on his face, I think thats from another guy, as Kwon isnt the only crazy big bad. There are others too, other dojos, these are the best of the best remember. I also dont think Miyagi Do will make it too far, just in fights they will succeed. We havent seen them train any skills stuff, only fighting. Also, hot take. I dont think Miyagi Do is winning the Sekai Taikai. I honestly think its going to be Kreeses Cobra Kai, or Johnnys if he brings it back.The show is named Cobra Kai. Cobra Kai has won twice before. We know the writers are prety logical, and just look around Kwons skills. Also, if Johnny does reopen Cobra kai, I dont think my theory would be the answer, I just know a fight, argument will get to him, or the Stingray thing. But with whos winning besides my Cobra Aki prediction, its hard to pick between Miguel, Robby and Kwon. Robby seems like a good choice, and I dont feel like Miguel would win inside Miyagi Do as there is alreayd Robby. If he joins Johnnys Cobra kai its more logical, or a possible draw, or disgualification which is an uncertain victory within the fan base. It all lines up. Hawk will for sure get his moment. They are seeing doing the highest kicks BTS and I think that will be a challenge or a competition. Jacob Bertrand said he had to fall off a 12 foot? Drop into dark mats, so this could be something pivitol. Hes definitely going to go crazy, not win the tournament but definitely get a big moment and possibly be injured extremely badly. For the aftermath, we will see what happens with the winner and winning team, and all the glory and good stuff they get. Something will go on between old man Kim Jong Eun and possibly other members, maybe Chozen, but I think he wont be involved in any fights and theyll do something to Kim. Give him a heart attack or something idk. Old hag. Mr Miyagi will be discovered as something crazy and Daniel goes crazy, Miyagi Do possibly shutting down and everyone joining Johnnys Cobra Kai or something idk im yapping on. When Johnny and Daniel are running with everyone behind them it could be after they win or something. I believe the end of Cobra Kai will be in a warehouse, I predicted before the Eagle Fang warehouse but…. yeah, but a warehouse with a boxing ring, possibly the one in the episode sleeper with the miyagi storyline. Ace degenerate or the Cobra Kai theme plays, or possibly King Cobra, as Johnny and daniel hop in the ring. They bounce around, and just like Rocky 3, they both punch eachother at the same time at a freeze frame with no contact. It will cut to a Bonsai tree with the Sun infront of it, and then the credits, no one knowing who has won,and like Creed, the new Karate Kid movie in 2025 will talk about this with Daniel saying Johnny won, but being uncertain to keep us guessing, like how Rocky said to Creed that Apollo won but said it weirdly. 1. “Deserve” is an interesting choice of words. Why does she deserve it? Is she far and away a better fighter than everyone involved? No. It proved she was willing to go to any length/was competitive. But we already knew that. 2. I don’t know why you want to split hairs/go to the wall for Devon; to justify her actions. 1.) “Deserve” is a peculiar word to use. That implies she is a stronger fighter than Kenny or has done something to earn it. The thing is why none of them ever go after them to see if they’re OK and then they were shocked and disgusted how they were on the bad side again, I mean you knew this was coming. WP, I love your commentary, but this is one of your few bad takes. Devon technically didn't break any rules, sure. But where is the line? She drugged her opponent, forcing him to forfeit, which the show itself portrays as immoral/foul play. (She hides it from Johnny). I've also seen you reply to a commentor who held Devon accountable for letting Anthony take the fall. You replied with "Well, what else is she gonna do?" which is not an argument. You can apply that to anything unethical... that doesn't make the act ethical. The lesson the show is teaching you, is how desperation, while it can drive you to succeed, can lead you to commit immoral acts that you usually wouldn't otherwise, which can hurt the people around you. Whether or not it was cheating *technically,* it was cheating in *spirit* and I can't blame the fans for concluding that she shouldn't be in the Sekai Taikai. Giving someone laxities isn't exactly a rite of passage for a martial arts tournament. Fans are also rightfully concerned that this current roster, is not their strongest at all, and that's fueling their disdain for what Devon did, even more so. I have my own new theory about this as I heard the man’s take on this… I believe Both Anthony and Devon put laxative in Kenny’s water. Barnes' right. Devon's studying the wrong thing. Demetrius too. American MiYagi-Do doesn't produce powerhouse students who've never been in Cobra Kai before. All 6 of American MiYagi-Do's best students: Robby, Tory, Miguel, Sam, Hawk, and Kenny: trained in Cobra Kai under Johnny and/or Kreese and/or Silver. Johnny trained Miguel, Aisha, and Hawk all by himself in Cobra Kai. Miguel became Johnny's 1st champion in Cobra Kai in the 50th annual All Valley. Johnny and Kreese trained Tory together in Cobra Kai. Robby trained Kenny in Cobra Kai under Kreese and Silver. Johnny trained and made a powerhouse student outta Sam in his faction of Cobra Kai which he renamed Eagle Fang for the 51st annual All Valley. Devon and Demetrius are a far cry from being powerhouse students and will rightly so cost American MiYagi-Do their chance at the sekai taikai. They both deserve to be off both teams for good for it too. Johnny's revived American Cobra Kai is the only solution now in part 2.
