I think Diablo actually did defeat Zegion (from what I recall in vol 13), while the three demon gals couldn't. Well, it's implied this happened due to the constraints ( i.e. not hurting rimuru's cells in his body) that Diablo had in place for their bout, I sincerely believe they wouldn't be able to beat him despite of it. As a matter of fact Rimuru's cells in his body are actually tougher than his own exoskeleton. And as of vol 21 I wonder if Zegion is now stronger than Diablo even, he did beat Zelanus after all!

Zegion evolved a step above Divine Insect Spirit to Supreme Chaotic Spirit, which is the True Dragon rank for Spirits. So in the current volume of the LN Zegion actually evolves into a pseudo-True Dragon rank which is like half a step below Rimuru who is an actual True Dragon complete with a Dragon Factor.

With all three of them and without self-imposed restrictions they might've had a shot, but as of the current Volume of the LN it is entirely impossible for them no matter what they do. As for Diablo, both before and after Volume 21 he beats Zegion, though after this Volume he probably couldn't do it while still adhering to that restriction

While Diablo is the strongest subordinate in magic, Zegion is the strongest subordinate in close combat, especially after Zegion beats his father. Funny thing about the thing that hinders from going all out to Zegion (his shell armor made from Rimuru's body) was also a restraint on Zegion's part becoming a full-pledged High Spirit, equivalent of Arch Demons in Tier but also their worst counter. Other than Guy and Diablo, no other Demons in the Series will have any chance of defeating him. Just remember, Zegion is overpowered because Ciel engineered him to be so.

Yes they can. With that restriction, they are picky where to target and what not. They have numerous magics that can counter almost everything an opponent has. Ex, Carrera's ultimate skill with that gun that can penetrate even a dragon's defense, that would be lethal to Zegion or can even kill him. Same with Ultima, she just need a little opening to enter her deadly poison... There are a lot to say. Even if Zegion is a master of Illusion, The demons are not fool not to know how to counter that.

They could probably win but it would be difficult. In theory, Carrera's ultimate skill could affect Zegion since the ultimate skill is able to even break through absolute defense but take into account Zegion is a master of spacial movement and also a good illusionist so Carrera would first need to find a way to counter that. For Ultima would be similar, although her ultimate skill allows her to create an specific poison to every enemy she would first need to break through his barrier with his own strength. Testarossa would have more chances since she's very cunning and could find different ways to counteract her weaknesses like how she did with Velgrynd, but since she's pretty similar to Diablo in an aspect she doesn't take a battle too serious (unless Rimuru orders so) she wouldn't fight Zegion using all her hidden sleeves.

Yes, Zegion is powerful but primodials have been around since the beginning of their world so we should not under estimate the experiences they posses if they decided to go serious. Anyway I can just speculiate since going serious on a battle, no restrictions did not happen in the story so I can leave it just that.
