Forgot to mention a #michaelgolden story in the back. Also, Marvel Studios' Agents of SHIELD botched their version of Deathlok badly. #deathlok #richbuckler #klausjanson #keithpollard #arvelljones #dougmoench #billmantlo #johnbyrne #bobmccloud #jmdematties #mikezeck #johnbeatty #bronzeagecomics #astonishingtales #mikenasser #marvwolfman #ronwilson #salbuscema

There's a touch of Bernard Krigstein in there too, pretty awesome art.

The Astonishing Tales series was the best. One of my favorite stories from the 70s

Great vid! There's interesting ( though I'm sure unintentional ) parallels with DC's Omac which came out during the same era I believe. Both are set in the future. Both are sort of bad ass soldier-ish guys. Both are lone heroes who talk to all knowing computers.

I ❤ this character! He would make an interesting movie series. I always found him an interesting character in the Marvel Universe.😊

Deathlok was a great character. As much as I loved the original series I found the artwork and writing a little inconsistent in the middle stretch. However it got really good towards the end when Claus Janson started inking the series! Easily one of the most interesting products of that time.

Great Artwork by Buckler ! Your right, i remember seeing his signature on quite a few DC comics back in the 70s, and of course, On the F.F. , thanks for showing these great comics of Deathlok, because i don't remember him too well from thst time period

Nice review. I’m a huge fan of Rich Buckler and especially his work on Deathlok. I have both the individual Astonishing Tales issues as well as the TPB, why not.

Deathlok The Demolisher of the Bronze Age was my favorite of the 1970s Marvel era. You should do a retrospective video on Rich Buckler. I have the whole run of the series up to the Captain America capstone ending.

Me too! But it was sometimes hard to find. Plus, I was all-in with Avengers, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Cap, Iron Man, etc. So only on rare occasions those books weren't out, I'd buy Deathlok. As an adult, I appreciate the series a lot more!

NGL I clicked thinking the title said DeathKLOK, and was expecting one of my favorite bands and adult swim shows. Still interesting though.

My first exposure to Deathlok were in those Captain American issues, I really dug the character. I have some of the Denys Cowan issues and love his work on those.

Good review 👍 👏 I loved this. I have most of these stories. I guess this was too dark for an American comic book audience. Deathlok would have fit in perfectly in the UK comic 2000ad alongside Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog and Rogue Trooper. Hex (Jonah Hex in a post apocalyptic future) didn't sell that well either even though it was amazing.

The idea of Deathlok in 2000 AD is brilliant.

I have Heroclix of the Luther Manning version and the 90s one as well as a signed copy of the 90s Deathlok. He came back in the early 90s big time.

What was especially cool was that the original series, 1974-1976 were supposed to take place in the far future - 1990! So when 1990 actually came around, they relaunched Deathlok. Pretty cool

I was always a big fan of Deathlok, but his comics were really hard to find here in the UK so I mostly knew the character from his guest appearances in other titles. The Marvel Two-In-One Project Pegasus story that featured him was a particular favourite, even though that version of the character wasn't the original Luthor Manning Deathlok.

They were hard to find for me as well, in Pittsburgh. And I had about five places within bike-riding distance!

@@drewgeraci8434 There were only two places to buy comics here in Sheffield, and even then it was a 30 minute bus ride to get to them. Looking back, I was really lucky though because none of the other nearby towns or cities had any comic stores at all (and they still don't).

Well, I never cared for the premise and have never been into dystopic fiction. Could be others also dislike it.
