If humans always needed a Messiah, why did God not save us earlier?
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit; One God, Amen.
Why was Christ incarnate on earth only 2000 years ago? Humanity prior to the incarnation was in desperate need of a Savior, humans were corrupt and times were dark; so why did He not come to save humanity earlier? Why wait till then? Today, we aim to answer these questions.

Could it be because this was the worst kind of death in the history of mankind for a person to suffer. Thus the passion of Christ would produce the most salvation as possible. Hope that makes sense.

The Bible tells us that the law puts us in bondage and it kills, but grace and truth gives us freedom which is Jesus, so if the law kills, why did God use a little of humanity to get us to understand we need his grace, isn’t it unfair tho those who followed every bit of the law, those who were not offered salvation and died like that

As Fr. Gabriel mentions in the video here, God worked with us at our lowly state. He waited until the right time and the right circumstances came up so that He could come and be incarnate amongst us. Having said that, one of those things that would prepare humanity is the introduction of the law so that we might have some orientation towards the Good. We are being pointed towards God even if obliquely at first. Commenting on the passage that one should take "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" St. Cyril of Alexandria says, "Such an enactment required a person not to injure others. Supposing him to have sustained an injury, his anger at the wrongdoer must not go beyond an equal retribution. But the general bearing of the legal mode of life was by no means pleasing to God. It was even given to those of old time as a schoolmaster, accustoming them little by little to a proper righteousness and leading them on gently towards the possession of the perfect good.” St. Cyril of Alexandria, Homily on the Gospel of St. Luke 6.29. God condescends to work through the law which could not lead to life so that we might one day be able to come to Him. St. Cyril is also adamant that Christ's descent into Hades is His preaching the Good News to those who were there as St. Peter states, "He it was who showed the way of salvation not only to us, but who also went as herald to the once disobedient spirits in Hades, as Peter says (1 Pet 3:19-20). For it would not have done for this loving-kindness (φιλανθρωπία) to be shown only to some; the manifestation of the gift had to be extended to all of nature.” St. Cyril of Alexandria, Festal letter 2.8. and also, "“For the Only-begotten came into this world and gave a new covenant to his kindred, the Israelites, of whom he was sprung according to the flesh, even the covenant long before announced by the voice of the prophets. But the divine and heavenly light shone also upon the Gentiles: and he went and preached to the spirits in Hades (1 Pet 3:19), and appeared to those who were shut up in the guard-house, and freed all from their bonds. ... For in their error [the Gentiles] had need of wisdom and understanding, who in their great folly worshipped the creature instead of the Creator, and inscribed stocks and stones with the name of gods. But those who long ago did not know Christ because they lived in gloom and darkness, acknowledged him as God.” St. Cyril of Alexandria, Commentary on Luke 4,18. The Lord uses Israel to slowly bring the world away from idolatry and sin through the tool of The Law (even though the law on its own cannot give life) and even preaches to those in hades who did not know the law. In this way He is both Saviour of the Jew and the Gentile. Great question! Asking your prayers

@CopticOrthodoxAnswers I wanted to know the reason why the old testament keeps repeating itself about Israel's punishment. It been repeated over and over again about their fall under Assyria and Babylon. Isn't 1 time enough?

Why is there no secular history of a man who died walking in the streets then? Would not some non Christian have wrote about this? Seems like kind of a big deal? The Bible says many people saw the risen Jesus..

@@ProwlinStallion09 There are a number of sources and a number of books about the matter. People like Pliny the Younger, Tacitus, Mara Bar Serapion do mention Christ and the Christians the fact of The Lord Jesus' existence and death. Documents like the Babylonian Talmud includes details about the Lord as well. This is a start. May God bless you and guide you
