There is a strong case to be made for the 2 witnesses to be Enoch and Elijah (as opposed to Elijah and Moses) since: 1. one is a gentile and the other a jew; 2. Rapture aside, Heb 9:27 says "it is appointed unto men to die once" - which immediately excludes Moses.

I could be wrong, but I always felt like Enoch was a representation of a rapture, and Moses parting the Red Sea was a sign of Gods protection in tribulation. Jesus is coming!! Amen. God is merciful. He always forgives. Never be ashamed to take your failures to him. He is for you, not against you! God is with you in the storm. He knows your troubles, he hears you! He is for you, on your side, always! It may feel silent at times, but he’s holding you close! May the Lord return soon! We are drawing closer. He is coming! Believe and trust in the Lord, you will be saved. Period. May the Lord bless you all! Hang in there family. Stay strong. It is not easy following the Lord. We are scoffed at. We give up our earthly dreams, our fleshly desires. What the enemy offers is short lived, but heaven is forever! Life may seem or be unfair, but God is with you! Always remember that. Things may get better or worse for you, but a kingdom awaits you! Finish the race! Repent daily and carry your cross. This world is fading fast. Your troubles are temporary! I made this channel because I felt guilty for not witnessing enough, I’d appreciate any kind of support. Don’t give up! God loves you so much! So do I. The Lord bless you!!

Considering Jesus said "no man has ascended up to heaven but he that came down from heaven" (John 3:13), I have a problem with Enoch and Elijah being taken to heaven. Were they NOT men? Some say Enoch was transformed into an angel named Metatron, but the promise is not for men to become angels but even higher. We will be judging angels and they will be serving us. Some of them didn't like that and rebelled and want to eliminate us humans. But why would God make Enoch an angel? Seems like kind of a letdown for a guy of Enoch's stature! As for Elijah, I guess I need to look into it more but it doesn't make sense to me right now!

It can't be that they could be the two witnesses to return in Revelation, Some questions to ask is: 1) if they are taken into heaven, then how can unglorified bodies be in heaven where there is no sin in the presence of God? 2) if they did get glorified bodies when taken away, then how do they die in revelation if the two witnesses are killed.? Can a glorified body die? Scripture says Enoch and Elijah were taken away alive, so it can't be that they were taken away in the spirit like Paul was when he was stoned to death and Paul saw what he explained the little he saw in the third heaven. He didn't know if he was in his body or out of the body. If they are the two witnesses to return, then heaven has a place for mortal humans? This is not possible. What are they eating? Angel's food? They can't be in paradise because Jesus went to sheol to preach and witness to those in Abraham's bosem and redeem them. The two witnesses can't be in hell being tormented because they walked with God. It's obvious these mysteries are kept secret from us here on earth, and rightfully so. Not all things should be made known to mortal men regarding heavenly wonders.

@@victorolajide595 yes, men have to go somewhere after they die, scripture does say the it is appointed unto man to die once. Some will go to hell and other to paradise. Many will be raised to eternal life and others to eternal damnation. Men certainly aren't there in carnal flesh bodies like we have currently. Enoch and Elijah both never died physical deaths so they have to be somewhere. There is a possibility that they both did get glorified bodies, but then how are they killed and to lay dead in the street if they they return ? I do believe that there are many things God has not made know men.

They actually died. The book of Hebrews confirmed it when it said " these all died".....talking about the heroes of faith with Enoch and Elijah inclusive. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; so Enoch and Elijah wouldn't have gone to heaven with their mortal bodies. If they are glorified, then it contradicts the Scripture that says Christ is the first fruit of Resurrection and moreover it will mean that there are bodily men in heaven right now which contradict the last verse in Hebrews 11 that they didn't receive the promise which is resurrection without us. The correct exegesis of the doctrine of resurrection affirms to us that Elijah and Enoch died else they would have been in a glorified bodily state before the incarnate Christ which is contradictory to the position of the Scriptures. Christ glorified body is the type we would be glorified with, that's why He was the first fruit of ressurection. A careful reading and understanding of 1Corinthians 15 on resurrection would answer this question as well as the careful reading of Hebrews 11

Sir, Have you considered the perspective of faith in the translation of Enoch? Rather than this video amswering the question it purportedly set out to answer, i do honestly think more questions arise. In Hebrews 11 verse 5 we read clearly that Enoch's translation had to do with faith...."By Faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death"...so in Enoch's case we see plainly that his translation was by faith. If we follow the thought being proposed in the entire chapter 11 of Hebrews we see that it's based on the fact that the persons spoken about were taught to have engaged faith for obtaining good reports: Enoch inclusive. Again, can we really claim that Enoch and Elijah went to Heaven given what Jesus Himself said in John 3, that "no man has ascended to heaven except the Son of man who is in heaven"? Again we need to put it staraight that the experiences of both Enoch and Elijah were not exactly ascensions to heaven but essentially they were translations. I can go on and on on this but i would like to have your response to this my submission. Thanks

There are some apocrypha books I read that stated that Enoch and Elijah were taken to the Garden of Eden and being preserved there. Garden of Eden isn't heaven and is on earth, however probably in another dimension or in the spiritual world. So this would follow what Jesus said about no one but him ascends to heaven.

Maybe consider addressing these verses. Joh 3:13 No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. Heb 11:13 These (Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah) all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. Heb 11:39 And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, Heb 11:40 since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect. 2Ch 21:12 And a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, “Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father, ‘Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah, (

Hebrews 11:5 is explicit why God took up Enoch: “By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death.” When we examine 2 Kings 2:11, Elijah was also taken up without dying. From the texts, the sole purpose of God taking up Enoch and Elijah was so they would not see death. Some of the other attributes about Enoch mentioned in Genesis and Hebrews, such as Enoch walking with God and being righteous and being a witness, are also described of other people, who were not taking up like Enoch and Elijah were. It seems God’s sole purpose for taking up Enoch and Elijah, but no one else, was so they would not experience death, which includes the suffering and pain experienced often with death. So, there doesn’t seem to be any specific attribute of both Enoch and Elijah that God saw in them as a reason to take only them up to heaven, but no one else. It simply seems to be the sovereign will of God as a reason for taking them up to heaven.

It's consistent with scripture that Moses is NOT one of the two witnesses, because those who teach that will have to explain where scripture claims that Moses will be denied his glorified body that all the other OT saints will receive at the rapture, only to doe a second time. No. It make more sense that the two witnesses are Enoch and Elijah, who likely would not receive glorified bodies since they had never died, especially when we consider that it is appointed unto ALL men to die once, and then the judgement.

The Hebrew word for "heaven" is quite ambiguous and it is also in plural, not singular as it mostly gets rendered in English translations of the Bible, thus it is technically "heavens" but it is also the same word used for "sky" or "skies." Thus with this knowledge of the nuance in Hebrew a Jew or Hebrew reader could just as well understand the passage concerning Elijah (Eliyahu) as being caught up into the sky, not necessarily to eternity, as there is another Bible passage (you'd need to look it up) where Eliyahu later appears after this point, which would mean that he did not die at that point but was caught up like some instances in the New Testament, where the person would be taken to another geographical location, otherwise the later verse is incorrect. If one takes the time to research this with a non-English mind viewing "shamaim" as the "sky/skies" it gives an understanding that is limited by the interpretation that it only means eternal "heaven." Hebrew allows for this ambiguity, but English translators only choose ONE meaning.

God does not lie. All men are evil, not one is good. Children are taught not to lie, not to steal, not to be selfish.... Therefore, if all men are evil, all men must die. Otherwise, God has lied, which He cannot. Also, bringing Enoch and Elijah, sinners, to the highest heaven without dying places them above Jesus who is sinless, which doesn't make any sense. There are three heavens (atmosphere, space, and highest heaven). This means that Enoch and Elijah did die somewhere in the first heaven, atmosphere, and then taken to the highest heaven. Their sinful bodies were not taken to the highest heaven because Jesus is above all and no sinner can enter highest heaven without Him, who provides mercy to sinners if accepted. Now, I realize that God and Jesus are one and the same. However, God still said that ALL men are evil, not one is good and ALL men must die.

Yet Jesus Christ says in John 3:13 (13 No one has ascended into heaven except the One who descended from heaven- the Son of Man. Could it be that GOD took Elijah & Enoch to a place man can not go here on earth like Eden for instance, which still remains on earth, Genesis 2:8-14 where GOD had created it and GOD is the only one who knows where it is. For no man can enter into Eden as it is guarded both day and night. For Elijah & Enoch to have ascended up to heaven, would make Jesus Christ a liar which He most certainly is NOT. Think about it Phillip was caught-up to another place and city as in (ACTS 8) He afterwards was told by an angel of the Lord to go to the road between Jerusalem and Gaza. There he was instructed to baptized the Ethiopian eunuch; next he was ("caught away" ) by the Spirit and ("found at Azotus" (Ashdod); and then "passing through he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea" .

Gen 5:24 say God took Enoch. It had to be to Abrahams bosom because John 3:13 makes it clear no man is in heaven. In 2 kings 2:11 we know it wasn’t the third heaven Elijah went to because again John 3:13 makes that clear. This is basic common sense.

Is Jesus Christ God or does he have a God? please read and if possible acknowledge the truth. John 20:17 King James Version 17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, *I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.*

Ok, it never says in the Bible that Enoch went to heaven. For Elijah, it does say he went to heaven, but which heaven as there's 3. Also, this would make God wrong and a liar. John 3:13 No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven--the Son of Man.

Moses was in Heaven when Jesus was transfiguration, so he is one of the 24. John the Baptist was “the Elijah” of his time

To me it makes more sense if they were called up for specific roles due to their obedience and faithfulness to God rather than having them go for the sake of sparing death! I won’t give Jesus as an example cause He was to die and live again even though He was perfect. But it would mean people are deserving of death otherwise, the very thing Jesus came to take away that deservingness from us. What about the other heroes of the faith that also dedicated their life to God? And then though not documented all their sins both Elijah and Enoch, the Bible does say only Jesus was ever sinless and perfect, so…I’d think they could have a role not just spare death. I could definitely be wrong though, but I trust God is wise and has a reason, that not even we need to know, and I’m fine with that.
