People are so stupid about suing and blaming it on the community when it's that persons fault

I went thru the tunnel when i was a student at Chaminade back in '86. & when i returned for a family vacation around '89. The 1st time very scary because u DON'T know how far to swim & the entrance is just a body size hole in the ground. The locals just said "swim straight" ... So i did & it was very simple. However, if a person PANICS i see how it could be dangerous. The 🚽 toilet bowl on the other hand is NOT really dangerous at all. U jump in when the water is up. & then u wait for it to refill to climb out. It WON'T "flush" u out to sea.

I was last here in 1981 or 1982. Back in the day, Hanauma Bay was the "in" spot for my parents to spend a weekend. My father and his Navy mate would drag food, beer, amenities and diving gear down that long road - sometimes being lucky enough to ride down on the propane-powered trams that took you to the bottom of the crater wall. The walls of the toilet bowl were VERY slippery too. Once you got in, it could be tough to get out. I still remember those days like they were yesterday. I was 12 years old and the king of the world.

It is sad that they closed it off. Personal Responsibility People!!! The duck pond in the town where I used to live was fenced off because some numnut parent was not watching their kid and he fell into the pond and almost drowned.

Pretty soon every cliff, beach front, mountain, hills, anything that can sprain your ankle will be fenced off.

So after the person ignored all the warning signs they were still able to sue for hurting him/her self when jumping in - what a joke, it was the persons own fault.

The decision for the state/city/county to close Toilet Bowl began it's path to reality following the Sacred Falls tragedy of 1999. The sad loss of life that day, and growing state/city/county liabilities, prompted the closure at Sacred Falls and other "dangerous" locations. All trails leading to Toilet Bowl are posted closed and there is a security guard posted full-time at the bowl to turn away trespassers & alert police if needed.

How about signing a waiver stating you know the risks and your signature states you will never sue any level of the government for your own stupidity if you are injured and any request for a first responder will result in full reimbursment to the muni and not charged to the local taxpayers? It's a good start.

Like many people I too spent time in the toilet bowl in the 70s & 80s - very safe (unless you try to dive thru the inlet). Was there last month (2019), & several lg rocks near the inlet have broken off & fallen into the bowl. Still safe away from the lg rocks, but not as round & gentle as it once was . . .
@GovernorWatts5 жыл бұрын
When I was there in the 1990s, one of my friends dived through that "keyhole" rock tunnel, which might be the inlet you're talking about. He survived, but I didn't go anywhere near that thing.

@Redrally Funny question coming from somebody with the nickname, Redrally. To answer your question, watch the video again...or I'll explain it again for you. The place had signs posted that entering it was a dangerous area. It was dangerous to dive into the toilet bowl, etc... So fools see other risk takers doing it and figure it must not be too dangerous. Then they get hurt and suddenly it is the state's fault so they sue. yeah, the state should do more to protect them from tehemselves

Hey next time you are in hawaii, why dont you try the haiku stairs? There is a huge crater you can jump off when you get to the top. hopefully since this video was posted almost five years ago, perhaps you have grown up a tad and can appreciate danger. I lived on the islands for years and you have to be smart about some things like the toilet bowl, large mountains with uber skinny trails and unsafe lava tubes.
@misterle70262 жыл бұрын
Appreciate danger? Like locals riding motorcycle, mopeds, and bicycle without helmet. Or riding behind a truck bed? Let people enjoy their lives. There are dangers everywhere, how many people you see drive drunk, speeding, or texting while driving.
@rileyparsons402610 жыл бұрын
out of the many people who have went here the only people who have died were normally at fault which are very few i believe there is only one such case at this exact location, there are cases of drowning all over this island if your afraid of it don't go.

Democrats! They are the one who make a bunch of restrictive rules. I did toilet bowl several different times. No problem. In Oregon, at the Ogden Overlook near Bend, there is a large park with a short stone wall at the edge of the deep canyon. It's quite breathtaking. Until recently it was possible to drive and park very near the overlook. Not any more! Seems a Democrat visited and when he opened his Prius car door, dual poodles made a run for a bird. The bird flew out over the edge with the stupid designer poodles on the make. It wasn't pretty. It took about 7 seconds for the poodles to hit the bottom. (They unsuccessfully attempted the flying squirrel parachute trick) Anyhow, the former poodles owner sued to get the parking area moved much farther away. The county barricaded the area for cars apparently to give time for future poodles to gather their mental faculties.
