I totally understand your sentiment towards Yona of the Dawn. I have recently started Kingdom (we got it in French small flex xd), and as I learnt there are 72 volumes or so. That and also JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Those are two series I'm currently collecting and damn are they massive and expensive. To be honest, every time a series get the hardcover or deluxe treatment, my wallet shed a tear as I pre-order the first one lol (VAGABOND THIS MONTH BTW WOOP WOOP)

I often tell people when they first start collecting to only buy series they feel like they will and can re-read in the future. Why buy a book if you will never pick it up again? So maybe you don't buy a whole run of the shonen manga maybe you buy your favorite arc. I tend to buy shorter series so it's easier to re-read and or if I end up not liking it I didn't spend a ton of cash lol

I was thirsting after BOTI bc I loved Vagabond and saw forums saying Blade was the real one; I really wanted those spines, too, but I ended up waiting, then picked up the first three deluxe along with a haul… I’m definitely glad I grabbed them bc they were a good deal, and I was definitely surprised to find that I didn’t actually feel like I needed to get that set afterward; people say it has great art, but pound-for-pound vagabond bests it in every art metric, and ultimately that culminates into a more captivating and immersive experience like I said, I’m definitely glad I have the first three deluxe copies because I enjoy flipping through the big pages to look at the art for what it is, but it truly does just exist as a comparative work of just how high quality controlled vagabond was.

having discontinued manga on my shelf hurts me. A series i was reading enjoying and the it was abruptly canceled and left unfinished in America. Zatch Bell and Reborn! Ive read both series 2 times over online. And collected as many physical vols that were released and both got discontinued for America.

I highly recommend using your library before picking up the physical volumes for your collection. Apart from the Rivers Edge that my library didn't have physically just digitally (which is why I haven't read it yet) I read all or these series from my library and apart from Yona that I'm waiting for a boxset for or even omnis by the time it ends I didn't think any of these series were great. Still have to finish Blade of the Immortal digitially from my library but its not a high priority. A few series I regret buying are Yuu Watases work, she used to be an absolute favourite of mine but I bought Alice 9th and reread it (read it first from the library years ago) and it didn't hit the same, then I also picked up Ceres for cheap and haven't read it yet because I feel like I might have gone off of this mangakas work. Same with a Kaori Yuki work though I still love her work, this series just wasn't her best. Spent a long time tracking down black cat and MAR and not sure I'll re-read them either, not finished reading black cat yet, ony half way (read before from my library though)

That was such a fun read. Just a complete little story. Guess I'll have to go reread it tonight. I can see how it feels rushed though. I would've liked to have it be more fleshed out though.

Honestly the Yona take is kinda ehh. If u can collect One Piece or any of the big three, another 40+ volume ain’t bad. This is someone with multiple 40+ volumes (yes I’m in financial debt) Now for series I regret buying, 1. Goodnight PunPu. I fully read the series because I can’t leave a series unfinished, it was good at first but once it got into the whole sub plot with the Pegasus cult & that one boy it was starting to turn me off the story. Then the latter half PunPun was starting lowkey piss me off🤣. Traded the series for Tokyo ghoul & RE which was such a huge come up because TG is in my top 10. 2. Platinum End. Made by the duo of Death Note & Bakuman. What can I say about this other than WTF ? The premise while good, it was executed horribly. I still have it on my shelf because I’m such a big Obata fan that I’ve been trying to collected all his works, even the Japanese ones. Here’s the premise for phantom seer As his classmates celebrate their middle school graduation, troubled Mirai is mired in darkness. But his battle is just beginning when he receives some salvation from above in the form of an angel. Now Mirai is pitted against 12 other chosen humans in a battle in which the winner becomes the next god of the world. Mirai has an angel in his corner, but he may need to become a devil to survive.

@@DanielPeppers it's worth it, I remember in one of your videos that you wanted to restart one piece after its finished and you dont have to wait that long , so much has happened in One piece that everyone needs a reboot you cant grasp all the lore through one read, im having so much fun starting over One piece hope you do a similar marathon.

I thought you just bought one or two volumes of these series but you just bought lots of books that’s crazy. That completionist mindset really drains your wallet I think you should read the first volume of each series first and based on your impression you may continue buying the rest

No I did about a year or so ago start the first 3 rule where I only allow myself to buy 3 volumes and once those get read I commit to collecting the full series. But when I started collecting I was wild with just blindly purchasing series before really seeing if the series was for me .

Absolutely get that, I've been there with some series, With Homunculus I picked up the first Omni because there was a lot of hype on the internet about it, but while I think there are some cool/interesting Ideas. I decided that series was not for me after finishing that first Omni.
