Interesting video. I'm an older guy looking back and I can say I'm glad I majored in business. It was not boring for me, it was a pretty good ride. My concentration was Marketing and I had a vibrant career in Industrial Traffic Management- the "Place" element of the Product, Price, Promotion and Place marketing formula.

My major is also in Business, however, I chose to specialize in Marketing. And this is my last year in university, however, I can tell you that it was definitely not worth it. Most of the subjects they teach in university are already outdated. You can find more and better valued information on the internet. If I would have to choose all over again, I would probably stay out of college and would go to get the real world experience.

I totally agree and I learned the hard way. Assuming you already know this but college is not for everyone. Unless you’re going to get a degree in STEM or be a teacher or a lawyer, you really don’t need a college degree. Trade certificates are just as lucrative or I’d say even more lucrative. As one famous career advisor once said, “Bachelor’s is the most overrated product in America.” Work experience can substitute for a college degree in certain fields. Military is an excellent option. In the military, they can train you to learn a technical job.

I wish I watched all these videos while I was still in high school so I could care more about my future. I always thought I knew what I wanted to do, but I just spent my life living in the moment, so I never really planned for my future. I just knew that I was going to college. I was going to go for Accounting because I loved math, but I took one college accounting class and said no. Then I decided that Business Management would probably be the best bet for me because I took some business classes in high school and enjoyed them. My parents also own a small grocery shop, so I thought I could apply what I learn to the store to improve it. I eventually did change my major to Management and HR. I went to a community college and then transferred to the closest and cheapest university. I have no college debt, a depressed soul, a degree in Management and Human Resources, and a future that is unclear. I do appreciate the no debt, but I just wished I went to a more competitive university so I would actually care. I did study hard and graduate with 3.96 GPA, but I know I could have done better in the aspects of not just studying but doing other things to support my future. So, I want you to know that you're an inspiration. You make me want to do more with my life!

4:38 Well in India, at 10th grade you have to select a group, either science or commerce, and you basically have to live that decision for the rest of your life. If you pick the commerce group, you can’t switch to the science group mid-way or vice versa. It kinda limits the students, and basically traps them with 0 opportunities, if they find out that commerce or science isn’t their thing. It’s kinda sad :/

Thon Maker Teaching English in Japan, working for an international company. For example, my university has good ties with Honda. I was able to sit in and listen to a translator do her job communicating a meeting between executives. There are many opportunities, like I’m in a CO-OP program with Apple that could lead to a full time job after graduation. When you’re in university, look for opportunities, get good at interviews and selling yourself. Best advice I can give!😁
