this video is what i needed. I have a comfortable life in my current job/city... probably too comfortable. I need to seek out more discomfort to try new things and meet new people while im young. Great content

I moved to MTL like you without knowing anyone. I had tons of experience in my field but couldn't find any jobs but after months and months of job searching, I finally found something last November. Annnnnd got kicked out in March due to Covid. The struggle is real my man. Great video.

That saying "everything happens for a reason" comes to mind when listening to your story. Turns out it might have been a good thing that you came to London and ending up working at your dream company.

I keep hearing this saying from people I meet while travelling and I never really believed in it personally, but the continuing frequency of it makes me think that maybe I should 😅

Hey Lashan! What a crazy journey, happy to hear it all worked out in the end for you. I just have a question since I'm moving to Brighton in the coming months, did your BRP have your NI number on the back or did you have to apply for that separately? Also, was it very easy to set up a bank account? (I've heard its a bit difficult but since I don't know anyone in the UK to ask I'm curious about it)

Loved watching this. I related to this a lot. This September I had moved to Leeds to try and start a life there. As a European I was optimistic but what you are talking about as a non-native British person is so true. I applied every single day. After 3 months and no end in sight I had to move back home. Found a job within 2 weeks here.. Not even applying, literally just uploading my cv and being contacted.

Maybe the answer is to stop being so self entitled? Most industries are extremely competitive these days and it takes a lot of fight to get a good job. I am originally from England and moved straight to London fresh out of Uni, it was a huge struggle to get a professional job in the beginning and took a huge amount of ambition and drive. From there I have had several years of WHV in Australia, New Zealand and now Canada. I also worked and lived in China (not as an english teacher) within my highly competitive industry for 2 yrs. This all took a huge amount of sacrifice and patience and willingness to knock on doors everyday and prove myself before anyone gave me the time of day. If I was an employer watching this video (which I could be) I would be so put off by your attitude and high expectations that I would immediately dismiss you as a prospective employee.. Step back a bit, take a job below your expectations and get to know some people. Stop moaning on your KZbin channel about the horrors of London and go earn yourself the right to a good job instead.
@LashanR3 жыл бұрын
Good for you Emily! If you watched the video then you would have seen i did persevere, I did stick it out and did get that good job ✌🏽
